you make me sad
That was arguably true before vista's second service pack, but now XP and Vista perform about the same, and Windows 7 marginally outperforms both.
Are you joking? Have you ever seen vista run on 128mb? Or windows 7? Yet I can install windows xp on computers with 128mb of ram and 300mhz processor.

disable aero and superfetch, and vista runs fine on a system with 512 MB RAM and an Pentium III. XP doesn't run well on a system with 128 MB RAM and a 300 MHz CPU either.
also NT 4 runs like a dream on a system with 16 MB RAM and a 100 MHz CPU. By your logic, it's better than 7, Vista, XP, Linux, and OS X.

Superfetch? And ya it does. I've done it. It wasn't fast enough though, so I put on win2k. I'm talking about my IBM Thinkpad 600E.

nothing runs "fine" on that
and linux, well ok. but i'm in it for practicality. you can't say that my choice to use windows isn't practical as it leaps and bounds in the areas I need it to
Actually, a 1 GHz Pentium III and 512 MB RAM is within the minimum specifications for Vista. Enjoy that little bit of information.

Linux vs. Windows is all about preference. Windows vs Mac is all about preference. Mac vs Linux is all about intelligence.

The only reason anyone should use windows is to game, and would you really be gaming on a laptop with 512mb of ram?

Saved that quote.
I like how the conversation went from "ricer accessories/cases" to how well OSs run programs/performance on hardware.

i'm confused by which you're implying is the intelligent choice as I don't regularly use either of those operating systems
I used to game on a destop with 512 MB RAM back in the day I pwnd n00bs in cs 1.6, quake 3 Arena, and UT'99
I used to game on a destop with 512 MB RAM back in the day I pwnd n00bs in cs 1.6, quake 3 Arena, and UT'99
Ahaha, I knew a few friends that did that to.

I was gaming with 512mb of RAM until 2 years ago, then I got 2gb of RAM :buddy:

Linux is the intelligent choice, it's free, and you can easily make it look like a mac if you wanted to (very easily, there is a script that does it automagically)

at the time, 512 MB was a lot of RAM. Something like those guys with 8 GB now.
I was gaming with 512mb of RAM until 2 years ago, then I got 2gb of RAM :buddy:
then I sold that computer for $500

I'll show my desk as how it usually looks. I tend to clean it up before posting...
and most of the people that do it are younger people that live with their parents and have no say-so over what OS is installed on the system.
also, we took up like two pages with this discussion.
