Honestly, buying something that old seems pointless since a lot of modern features most likely aren't even supported and there's little to no benefit over a cheap managed consumer switch of today.
A 3750 is still plenty relevant to today and supports a new enough version of IOS to be useful for learning.

He didn't mention anything about wanting to build a ccna lab.
They're not even EOL'd yet and Cisco is pretty aggressive with those timelines.

You don't have to build a lab to learn some basic useful Cisco skills. It's not even like the tech has changed a terrible amount for what he'll be using it for.
That's about the same price we'd pay for in NZ give or take 20 bucks~.
Meanwhile I could get 1gbps for "call for quote" aka more than you have
[editline]15th March 2017[/editline]
Probably thousands upfront to have fiber run to my house + hundreds monthly after
It's for personal and lab use. If it was purely for lab, I could have gotten a 10/100 switch for a lot cheaper.
Just a heads up HP and Dell switches are a good bit cheaper, work well, and have Cisco-esque syntax on the better models.
plus HP switches light up like fucking christmas trees

Why would you ever buy Cisco hardware if that wasn't your goal?

You don't if you mail in your ballot either :(
Assuming you have mail in ballots where you live, of course.

I was trying to make a joke. Didn't work.
Jesus trying to link my twitch account to my Xbox is a huge pain in the ass. I had to reset my password because it kept erroring, then once I reset it, it continued saying unknown error everytime until eventually it finally loaded and let me enter the damn code.
Why would you ever buy Cisco hardware if that wasn't your goal?
My point exactly, he didn't indicate at all that that was his goal, so it seemed weird to get a Cisco.
While I agree with your statement that a regular switch would work for my use; you gotta consider that outside of studying for Cisco certs, some people just like to dick around with things. A little much to jump to conclusions mate.
But cisco switches are terrible and you could get many nicer things for the same money, so the only reason to go for Cisco is the CCNA.
So as I went to go pick up the switch, there was three guys all arguing about the PoE version that I wanted at first. One guy needed it for his business, other guys who bought it was using it for CCNP.
He was all red faced and pissed about no one responding to his buy offer on eBay, for both the switch the two guys bought out and my switch.
That was fun to witness.
Why did they argue, if it was sold on ebay, the buyer gets it?!
now we just need webp support in firefox i guess.
Similar avatars, same IP, posting at near the same times, is it really that much of a mystery??
Back on topic, great maybe I'll be able to drop that apng extension one it hits Chrome's dev channel.

They ain't THAT horrible, also:
I knoooooow, but I could only find good Cisco switches local to me. I didn't want to pay the $50-300 that most eBayer's are charging for shipping.

Why did they argue, if it was sold on ebay, the buyer gets it?!
He apparently made the OBO early in the day yesterday, to which they never responded to, and the switches were sold late last night and early today. It was just bad timing for the people who bought those specific switches through Buy it Now to be there when he was getting pissy at the seller for being slow.
