Good friends don't let friends buy ASUS hardware. My driver that controls the heatsink fans isn't working and I can't fix it right now because the fucking website to download an updated driver is currently down. My CPU is at 60*C and I have no idea when the website is going back up.

The only reason why I even got the motherboard I did was because it came with a 1080 at a discount and all the other 1080s were sold out.
Found out my real problem: For whatever reason the default settings in my BIOs (which was reset some time ago) had my CPU fan disabled :what:
Oh true I forgot the ridiculous cost of electronics in non-US countries. I would have being subjected to that :v:
I've been trying out windows 10's new night mode which emulates lower color temperatures later in the evening. It's alright except for 2 problems. You instantly know when it's triggered because it changes color in about... oh... like... 2 seconds. Instead of like half an hour.
Secondly is how it applies the colors, it doesn't pull out blue light, it overlays some sort of color so all reds and pinks and oranges are super saturated. It's distracting.
Cleaned my computer out, temperature is doing better but I still have no way to control the speed of the heatsink even if I try to set it in the BIOS, nevermind about the tempurature it just shot right back to 60 lmao

I have a CD too, but the software crashes on startup after installing it. I don't know why people opt out of a CD/DVD drive when building a computer because having one has saved my shit countless times.
Software?
Ahh ai suite?
Also what are your opinions on getting my firstnamelastname.us as a domain for my professional facing email? For job seeking and employer communication stuff.
Depends
Gmail is usually seen as professional
As long as your alias isn't some fucked up shit and not hosted on goat.si you're fine

Mine switches over in about half a minute, it did used to be two seconds on the insider.
My real bug is that it will actually traverse the whole spectrum before snapping back to the defined level
It gets really red
[editline]21st May 2017[/editline]
I think the time taken depends of its toggled on manually, or by automation based on location / sunset

I did it manually a few days ago, but now it's automatic.
It is typically more comfortable, but it's implementation needs adjustment definitely. I think it should take atleast a fewminutes.

Yeah, while its functionality is pretty nice, it's implementation does require more time. I remember it coming late into the builds, but I would have expected more work on it by now. I'm hoping it gets some more love by the next update.
It really is a bare minimum effort
Until it's as good as f.lux I think I'll pass on it
Until it's as good as f.lux I think I'll pass on it
No point downgrading if you're happy
I don't even use f.lux
I don't even use f.lux
It's really great if you're a late night browser.
F.lux/similar are fuckin great. It's shame the default settings are so strong, though. People try it once and they think it's like looking through a glass of juice then never try it again, when really all it needs is a slight tint for most people.
[editline]20th May 2017[/editline]
whats F.lux?
Tints your screen warmer so you don't burn out your eyeballs looking at your screen in the dark. Apparently also helps with sleep cycles since bright screens can throw your body's internal clock off.
whats F.lux?
Changes your screen colors to accommodate the time of day, reduced eye strain at night.
[editline]20th May 2017[/editline]
Also the reducing of blues helps mitigate the effect screens late night have on causing sleep issues from what I've read.
[editline]20th May 2017[/editline]
Damn ninja
It's really great if you're a late night browser.
All the time, but I typically turn on the room light and desk lamp in my room when I'm using my computer later in the night.
I don't even use f.lux
I should start using it again.
[editline]20th May 2017[/editline]
I wish I could get it on my phone, but it's not worth the hassle to root it.

Also, this obviously isn't an intended effect, but my LG G5 developed some pretty bad image ghosting issues when I got it, but interestingly enough applying a slight tint with Twilight fixed it. I don't get any image ghosting anymore so long as twilight is active.
When did this happen!
Twilight has existed for a couple years to my knowledge :v:
The last time I looked into getting something like f.lux, it required root. It's definitely been a year or two though.
Also what are your opinions on getting my firstnamelastname.us as a domain for my professional facing email? For job seeking and employer communication stuff.
Namecheap private email host for sure if you want to go that route. I pay $10.99 a year for my domain and email inbox.
I personally did first@last.TLD (Nicholas@wirth.pro), but y'all were like "lol that's too cocky" when I mentioned it months ago. Imo it's nice but as Scratch. said, GMail is regarded as a clean looking address host.
I have first.middle.last@gmail for my personal email that's on my resume. I now have brett@sircrest.tv for personal stuff related to my freelance stuff for youtube/twitch, was thinking of maybe doing another to replace my first.middle.last.

Yeah I've already got levelog@levelog.land through name cheap as my primary email for general shit. And a Gmail for older and some important stuff, resumes too.
my professional email is xxxhotcumslut69xxx@pornhub.com

the main issue with using Twilight is that it really just kind of applies an ugly overlay if you're not rooted. It's not a 'true' night mode and looks pretty bad. But I guess it works.
I'd always thought the idea was to increase color temperature 樂
Try Sunset Screen if you haven't before, it has lots of options
Low temperature = red
high temperature = blue.
So lowering the color temperature on a screen would make it warmer. If your screen as color temperature options, 6500 is considered typical white, 5000 is warm, and ~7000 would be bluer.
The kelvin scale on cameras is used in terms of compensation. You'd set it to 2000 if the light was warmer, to counteract the warmth. If the light is bluer like daylight, you set it to a higher kelvin, like 6000k.
I believe it comes from how metals or fire in general glow during heating. dull red is a lower temperature, but as you increase the heat, it turns whiter.

Looks perfectly fine to me as long you don't go too heavy on the tint. You don't need much anyway; I regularly forget it's even on. But if I turn it off suddenly it feels like looking into the sun :v:

Interesting, I am in the market for getting my own custom email address and that would work just fine. I was also thinking of building a website for freelance video work so I dunno if getting both would affect anything.

If you were to start an email hosting service using that domain you'd probably get a lot of users. And increase the likelihood and magnitude of offers for it, too.
Just an idea.
Or if you can't be bothered you could just offer it to that Cock.li guy. :v:
