there's always threads on /g/ about cmd windows popping up being a scare factor
but I read one reply with some legitimacy behind it
I replied saying that I get the same thing too, but every hour
MSOffice have a background script that fires off every hour, but it's not actually running as a background process,
and that they are usually listed in task scheduler. It's a good place to look
I delete it every time I update, office insider builds
Feels bad when all the domain admins are unavailable so despite getting a new PDA installed for a client they can't actually use the thing without a new FTP account.
PDA? FTP? What is this, the nineties?
PDA? FTP? What is this, the nineties?
it's the new way [sp]pentium[/sp] likes to be

We offered them the Android version that's much nicer and the hardware doesn't cost $3k but it "wasn't corporate." Someone below them saw the Android version later and asked why the fuck they weren't using it. I think it's FTPS at least though.

Then there was a merger and we had to update 30 of the fuckers over 3G in bumfuck nowhere at ~30 mins per unit.

That's the one I've disabled, is it hitting everyone else?
The timings seem different but that doesn't mean it's not so
This morning has been going quite well. Replying to lots of tweets, some folks are a bit frustrated. "FUCK ELGATO"
lol
It's like when a parent tells their kid "USE YOUR WORDS" People get frustrated because they get no response. The moment you reply they calm down.
When you're too lazy to manually type in a long password into a computer right in front of you so you RDP to it from your laptop so you can copy and paste from documentation...

It managed to show itself at work this afternoon for one of the girls downstairs.
Thirteen minutes past every hour the window popped up.

I submitted feedback about it using the integrated feedback form months ago
Obviously no fucks given
Seems at some point I told Google my name is "wow" because when the Google Apps invoice comes out that's what my name shows as. I have no memory of doing this.

Replace the commas after your name with a exclamation point for a whole new meaning
So I got a tmobile mini-cell for my office... of course it needs 3 ports forwarded in order for it to work.
I have no choice but to contact the... helpdesk... for assistance, but I have no idea what the thing's IP is. I have its mac address, but i'd prefer to have everything I need so I sound more knowledgeable to the HD and thus have a higher chance of them helping me with this.
The thing will benefit literally anybody here that uses Tmobile. Can't help sprint or ATT customers and this used to be a Verizon building so they don't even need help.
Advice?

I disabled it and I haven't had the problem since.
Bunch of people on reddit said the same thing.
Anyone know if there's a way to set up port forwarding in an android or iOS phone being used as a tether? I want to run servers from home because our buddy keeps fuckin it up.

You could probably do something fancy with iptables.
You get a public address on your phone? We have CGNAT over here.

Is it on the same network as your workstation?
Can thermalpaste get old and lose efficiency?
Over the course of 1.5 years I have been tearing apart my thinkpad t420 at least four times to blow air out of the vents and put on the same thermalpaste I've been using for years.
For the first few days/weeks it seems to be okay, but after a while the idle cpu temp is ~46-49 °C and under performance heavy apps or even small games like gzdoom can make it go 79-86 °C with the fan spinning like crazy. Occasionaly the cpu is throttling too. The fans are okay, and after a few hours I can feel the warmth of the hdd throught the palmrest.
I know it's summer, but it sucks that I can't really play games with this sandy bridge i5 + nvs 4200 combo. I'll probably need to build a new PC if there's no solution.
Yes it can, you should check the state of the thermal paste about once a year. The factory applied ones also really suck for some reason, even the cheapest chinese ones tend to do a better job.
edit: make sure to properly clean the contacts with alcohol and try a different type of paste this time, also make sure the copper that makes contact with the cpu has no dents or scratches in it because that can lead to worse temps
this also reminds me, I should replace the paste on my laptop but it's still under warranty, I guess I'll wait for a month or so and then just clean the inside
Is it on the same network as your workstation?
Doesn't seem to be. Had to plug it in next to the printer because I needed window access for the GPS antenna. I wrote down the MAC from the box and sniffed for it on my subnet but got nothing.
Suppose I could hook my personal laptop to the same switch the mini-cell is on and sniff for it there...

Do you think that could help my system? It started slowing down even when doing very light workloads or ~8 Chrome tabs.
I've been running into some problems with games lately. They start up fine, but as soon as I get into gameplay, framerates go from 60 to 1 and I cannot figure out why. It doesn't seem to be overheating, and it is not that game requirements are too high (it happens in Half Life). I tried the Windows 10 Fresh Start thing, didn't change anything. I tried fresh drivers and everything. It's a Dell Precision M6600 with a Quadro 3000M.
Check your temps with something like HWMonitor, you're either overheating, hitting a power wall, running out of memory or waiting on disk I/O
Speaking of thermal paste, I feel like I have to delid my i5 3570k because it idles so high compared to when I bought it. Seems like replacing on the IHS might help.
