It'll also probably only be used in Windows Store games meaning very few people actually have to care
Windows is a pretty open platform, but the kernel is not, and has a 300USD entry ticket. They can protect a game like its a system-service, and potentially raise the entry barrier for cheat development to rootkit levels.
It'll be borderline useless and only available for Windows Store games, nothing to worry about.
The windows store in general is such a joke. It's like the Android store circa 2010.
god, this is one of my fears at my job :v:

At my workplace you have not popped "your cherry" until you've blown up your first power supply.
It's typically followed with cheering from around the workshop. :v:

It would be nice if it was functional enough to be used as a delivery platform.
Imagine .... a world where applications big, or small. Are updated by one system and don't fucking nag when you boot them.
Talking more about ThreadRipper in that intel i9 thread makes me want to actually put my R7 in my server since it supports ECC ram and then get a 16 core threadripper.
Ryzen has such low end power use, Thing sips power on idle, perfect for my always on server. Messing with blender made me want so many more cores.
Those are some confusing as fuck, expensive as hell, looking motherboards.
X299 is a complete mess. Linus is right about Mobo manu's having a hard time making it work. Can have 16, 28 or 44 lanes, from 4 core 8 thread, to 18 core 36 thread. And then some CPU's only support dual channel four dimm, so some slots might just not work. Where as some might offer 8 dimm, dual channel. Some do quad channel 8 dimm. It's Crazy.

Do it.

Dual channel memory and 16 lanes are really the only difference from x99 out of the things you listed. But yeah, I don't know what Intel is thinking with all their shit lately.
Some of the motherboards showcased have to have a little LED on them to help you understand what parts of the board are enabled at any given time :v:

That's a bit worrying.
Article is only speculation, it's not like developers can't do things like this already.
At it's core, it's opt-in/out telemetry for video games, which has already existed for many years
Screencheat has forced telemetry on what maps you play, kills you get, and a few other analytics, it's also an outsourced service.
No one can tell what game monitor is going right now, I'm sure people will figure it out.

But some of those SKU's can only support four dimms from my understanding. So someone has to know they can't use some of their slots, right?

You can run in test mode (which I'm sure most cheaters won't mind doing).

I note that you apparently have no qualms about using software from
Microsoft, despite them being convicted repeat monopoly abusers:

Might I suggest that you contemplate those facts, perhaps in conjunction

However, I'm not sure if that's going to make you feel any better. Sorry.

Already did, I really like that reply :v
Would a NUC be a better solution than a full fledged mini-ITX HTPC? I plan to run Kodi exclusively on it. I currently have a RPi3 but I find it a little slow when navigating the menus. I've tossed together a build for a HTPC with a small SSD and a Pentium but its very expensive compared to a tiny NUC. I just want fast navigation in Kodi, is a NUC fast enough for that?

The 300 USD Certification is not even an option, you sign contracts with microsoft you'll break and the CA does background checks.
But disabling DSE, disabling patchguard, and then trying to convince the Anti-Cheat everything is secure and "OK" is already happening.
And it's like trying to hide a debugger or hide emulation, thousands of ways besides just the WinAPI to find out.
But real-time protection is important, and is something that remains hard, simple cheats with low distribution are often a hard problem to solve.
And you put the bar pretty high with real-time protection, only microsoft can really provide.
But The real scary shit starts .... and 3rd parties wouldn't do this (at least not for years).
But microsoft would and could, require Secure Boot to be fully enabled/functional to play online.
And at that point the OS can proof to the game-server, the whole stack from the UEFI all the way down to a shell extension, is signed code.

Did you use too much? Ya just want a real thin layer across the entire surface.
I'll re-do it tomorrow , also the fan doesn't work which might mean that wire got snapped as well. Never give your laptop to a 'service center', they only had one job (to install the ssd so i can keep the warranty), they broke the keyboard in 2 spots and used some extra strong double sided tape to tape it down. Now I have to go hunting for a replacement keyboard or try to fix the cable...
Make them pay for a new keyboard and fan instead. Though, I might blame your worse temps on the fan not working rather than the thermal paste.
Turns out they went bankrupt a week ago
I'll try and fix all this tomorrow, hopefully I won't have to search for another keyboard
They're generally not that expensive, you can find replacement keyboards for plenty of common laptops for like $15
Now I have to learn CSS for work :suicide: .Can someone buy me that mug?
