Decided to try being a True American Gamer™ today and bought a bag of doritos and a bottle of mountain dew. Can't say I'm a fan of either, the mountain dew just tastes like sprite/7up that someone's dumped two tons of sugar into. The doritos are supposed to be spicy I guess (sweet chilli pepper) but they just taste kinda bitter with an aftertaste of like vinegar or something, 3USD thrown out the window

"Sure I'll try dualmining with Ethereum and Siacoin." GPU hit the power limit. GPU hit the thermal limit. GPU fans hit the RPM limit. Eh...
Fear not, for I have set right what went wrong with Twitter's latest UI update.
Out of all the things I've added to my ThinkPad, this one's the best in the middle of July. [t]http://i.imgur.com/PwvYuSz.jpg[/t]
What it is / what does it do?
USB fan
USB fan
oh shit i thought the white thing is just glare from the desk or something. It looked just like a weird plug, maybe an antenna ors.
I had one of those, my problem was since I could re-record as many times as I wanted, I was an absolute perfectionist I spent maybe 20 minutes trying to record a 90 second response because I'd just reset every time I stuttered a word or lost my train of thought
That wasn't possible with this one. I got 30 seconds to prepare and only one chance to record.

Took side panel off my desktop. Dualmining 6C below the thermal limit with 62% fan speed, 150-155W. No throttling. Fuck side panels.
Took side panel off my desktop. Dualmining 6C below the thermal limit with 62% fan speed, 150-155W. No throttling. Fuck side panels.
That just means you have insufficient airflow inside the case.

We sold them last year and the novelty is great, but it spins at such a high rate that the parts wear out too quickly. [editline]17th June 2017[/editline] We recalled them back to the manufacturer as it was more of a cost replacing them than what they were offering us back for defective units.
That just means you have insufficient airflow inside the case.
Aye, I haven't got any way to increase the airflow though. Well, I could take a dremel to the front panel, but that would not end well.
Expect that thing to break within a week. I've legit left it on my 20Ah powerbank for days without problems. First time eBay shit actually turns out to last more than a few days?
Huh, surprising. Guess our store picked a shitty manufacturer.
"Sure I'll try dualmining with Ethereum and Siacoin." GPU hit the power limit. GPU hit the thermal limit. GPU fans hit the RPM limit. Eh...
Speaking of ethereum mining. Power limit was only at 80%, fans were under 60% and temps were around 60 so I figure why not see how high it goes. Took 175 on core and 350 on memory just fine. Turned core up to 200, miner crashed and anti virus flagged it as a trojan. The same miner that had been running flawlessly for like a week and a half is suddenly a trojan because of overclocking. Computers are great and make lots of sense.
Is it normal for a desktops CPU temp to be almost 90C and GPU at around 60C when playing 3D intensive games i.e. GTA V? Or should it get more cooling? CPU usage is around 60% when in game, CPU is i7-7700 running at like 4GHz according to Task Manager. When idling, CPU does 60C. Everything is air cooled.
I'm in Seattle right now raiding my favourite recycling center for goodies. RE-PC sold me some new wireless cards and a firewire hub. Then I saw this mound of fucc. Fucking mechanical keyboard fanatics. They took all the keycaps off and junked the far more valuable keyboards. :disgust:

When idling, CPU does 60C.
idle temp for desktops with a stock cooler is usually lower than 50c, and with aftermarket it's not uncommon to be in the 20s. You're most likely thermal throttling if you hit 90C doing things. Not like it's gonna catch on fire or anything, but consider remounting your cooler with fresh paste. (Sometimes programs misreport temps though, like AMD CPUs do in Speccy, so I would check any motherboard utilities / AMD overdrive / inside the BIOS)
Apparently this compact desktop (miniATX?) I am using has laptop DDR4 RAM. Is it any worse than desktop DDR4 RAM or is it basically the same in terms of overall performance? Since it's one of those compact desktops, I can see how using that kind or RAM type for a desktop would save space on the motherboard.

My i5-6600K at 4 GHz doesn't even hit 90 in prime95 maximum heat mode with the GPU maxxed on air. Granted i5 vs i7 but prime95 is pulling 95W through the CPU and I'd be surprised if GTA V can even get it to 60. What cooler are you using?

Because 60C at idle is bad.
Oh compact desktop memes. Yeah that's probably normal then. No airflow in those things.

I just realized that the mining algo for Ethereum just hit the limit where you can no longer use 2GB cards for mining. So even when I get my PCIE riser, I won't be able to use my 270X. Maybe I can find an alt coin that's still doable with it...
But why
Because I don't pay for electricity
