Done. Both systems now have a valid system install AND are networked. I hope you are happy. [photograph of OS X "About this system" page]
Imagine having a connection like this :)))))) [t]https://s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/rsstorage/ShareX/2017/04/cmd_2017-04-03_23-46-57.png[/t]
Whenever I run ping tests, I do the same thing to my router at the same time. Had loads of issues in the past with my router just doing random shit and throwing me off. But these days it's definitely comcast. Whenever I praise their engineering, they fuck me over.

Is there anything special that needs to be done to connect eDP to a DisplayPort input? I tried soldering a DisplayPort -> HDMI female adapter to the eDP A lines on the Thinkpad X220 dock connector, but was ultimately unsuccessful in getting it to work. I confirmed all the connections were solid with a multimeter, and I did get a heartbeat out of it (screen would flash black for a sec like it usually does when I connect a new screen when the adapter was powered, but would do nothing when the adapter was unpowered). Config1 and Config2 pins were grounded as they should be, the only pins I didn't connect were two of the extra ground pins. Pin 20 is connected to the adapter, but I'm pretty sure that's necessary as the adapter wouldn't be powered otherwise. I also tried pulling some of the DOCKED pins on the dock connector low to try to fool the Thinkpad into thinking it was docked (I reasoned that perhaps the eDP outputs for the dock would only be active if docked), but no dice. I ended up just desoldering what I'd done and closed it back up. Any ideas for future attempts?
Content! We have content, right here on our own forums.
Garry's mod must be re-released under the GNU GPL public license to become free software if it does not it is DOOMED to failure. Me and many others have had enough of using non-free software in order to play this game. Garry's mod should be released as FREE software, in order for this to happen the ENTIRE game source code should be given to any person who purchases the game so you can edit it. Furthermore the Valve Source engine should follow the same actions and move to the GNU GPL public license so we edit the source code. I've had ENOUGH of the horrors of propertery software on my computer, it has MALICIOUS features that could be running in the background. This has to STOP, garry's mod infringes on your human rights to freedom of software and this has to END. I want to control the software that I put on my computer, not the software to control ME.
Never thought I'd see RMS himself on our humble forums.
I highly doubt GNUsource runs on an open source bios.
If any kid was like me back in the day, I would have it in a million subdirectories to hide it from my parents because it's a screenshot of a game I shouldn't be playing
And back in the day, my dad introduced me to "violent videogames", but they were all in english so I actually started to learn english bit by bit when I was a young bab. Dad also introduced me into modding. And this all led me to being a Software Engineer. Feels pretty good.

So a client didn't realise they had volume freight on (as opposed to flat rate) and charged 29 million in freight instead of $1600. It's invoiced too. Probably a good thing the customer wasn't set up for direct debit or that would have been much [del]funnier[/del] more serious.

Speaking of crypto, we were joking that since our new monitoring software can bulk push remote installs for a whole site we should push crypto for places that refuse to pay for a competent backup solution
How does everybody here feel about the Mastodon meme? (OStatus based federated Twitter clone that just got a sizable user influx because Twitter's pissing everybody off again) I don't really think it'll go anywhere, and I kinda hope it doesn't, because it's not really built to sabotage moderation (which is what I really want from federated networks) and there's no way people are gonna switch twice, but I have to admit the UX (and being free from Twitter's monetization efforts and bizarre "improvements") is nice.
never gonna go anywhere People stick with twitter because of the sheer amount of users it has, including publications. The ability to share a news article and have it bounce around RTs until it reaches your and your friends' timelines so everyone can get informed or laugh at it is something you can't get with Mastodon. I'm sure everyone likes to think they control their twitter via choosing who to follow, but a lot of twitter is retweets and reactions to external tweets. If you just wanted to shitpost with friends, shoving all of them into a discord or telegram server is much easier than making them sign up for a twitter clone.
The only time I've seen one social media site successfully usurp another based on the same formula is Facebook with MySpace, and I think that's largely thanks to social media not being nearly as widespread as it is today. [editline]4th April 2017[/editline] On a semi-related note what in the ungodly fuck is it with social media sites and other similar kinds of sites (e.g. video sharing sites like YouTube) constantly making radical changes to their fucking UIs Update it aesthetically sure but so help me God if I have to make one or two more clicks to do what I could previously do with less you have made a goddamn mistake
can I buy one of those hard drives :v:
These drives all have at least 20000 hours. They're nasty but leaves me with an upgrade path from 250gb spinning rust to 256gb SSD's.

My Logitech G700s replacement arrived. It's basically a brand new sealed one. Sweet. Now I have a backup dongle and usb cable (and mouse).
Why would you need that many?
I wanted to make a chain mail out of it but realized it is a complete waste of time and resources.. Also it was found in the e-waste bin at a hacker space, what else am I supposed to do with it?
Sell it on eBay, unless you have a direct need for ~5000 22kOhm Resistors.
