I was struggling with this the other day trying to sign an .apk, but the store password had an exclamation mark in it and my terminal wasn't having any of it.
Ended up just changing passwords on it, but good to know how to escape it. I thought surrounding it with quotes would be good enough.

Speaking about this and related to my group project consisting of a group of absolute fucking morons, some fresh content just came in.
So I've bitched about the guy who's just horribly incompetent before, right? If you don't know who I'm talking about, imagine a person in their final semester of school, who has no idea what AJAX is, searches everything on Stack Overflow, has no idea how Git works, and in a year group project has only committed about 10 lines worth of code. I'm not joking. Here's his last - and only - change in the last 2 months:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/xczfzwl.png[/t]
(Made 2 weeks after we decided to not enforce password requirements except for minimum length.)
That's not even what I'm here to bitch about today. Yesterday we were scrambling to get the app uploaded to the Play store and we had a bunch of issues with it that I had to go through and solve. 2 hours later, signed APK generated and uploaded to the Play store. Done and done, now our Android testers can test!
I let everyone know my progress in Slack as I was going along, and my last message today - at 9AM - reads: "I fixed all the issues with the app and uploaded it to the Play Store. I will let everyone know when Google finally says the new app is published"
At 3PM, he sends out a message saying he is going to start working on the bugs in the app and generate a new APK.
...
I have dealt with a great deal of incompetence this semester but this takes the cake. It's a group project, you're a senior-level CS major, and you can't even fucking read a few messages on Slack? Holy shit.

I have two remote PC's on two different ISP's in different states which do the same thing. They're even on faster connections.
Using the latest rclone 1.36
Sometimes it will only ratelimit for maybe 15minutes and finally begin uploading, but if I don't want to get throttled to hell and back I have to manually make sure I send new data and don't let it check the directory. Even if I don't get ratelimited, sometimes rclone will show 0% and 0kbps for all transfers for a few minutes at a time before suddenly starting back up again.
Uploading though the UI seems slightly better in the last few weeks.
I've kept Gsuite because the UI is more powerful than ACD for productivity. I plan to use Drive more for delivering my content to clients. But for also double the cost of ACD it certainly performs like shit. And I can't believe I'm getting such bad performance for a supposedly much higher end system. I'm even using my own Drive API credentials.
I mean you can see here when uploading just images, it has so much fucking dead time between uploads that it averaged a super low throughput. https://i.imgur.com/9EIsEC1.png For photos I tried 4, 8, 12, 16 transfers.

Best news I woke up to all week.
Don't like Unity, Like Gnome. Don't like the fragmentation between Mir and Wayland.
Now this has all been solved. Now they can focus on improving existing solutions rather than reinventing the wheel.
Huge ++ for my case.
Did anybody like Unity?

Yes, it's quite pleasant, and I know several others who like it as well. Guess GNOME is fine too, but it's not as nice..

I mean I never much liked Gnome either once better DEs came along but I've never, ever seen the appeal of Unity.
It's different, but you get used to it and it's really nice tbh
Ehhhh I'm really not a fan of big, in-your-face GUIs, and Unity is the biggest embodiment of that behind Windows 8 Metro.

I'm in my final year of a bachelor's CS. Group projects are the worst. I had a similar experience a few months ago with a member of the group that didn't pay attention in lectures, did everything last minute and spent the majority of his seminars browsing the Kung Fu Panda fandom wiki. Not sure how he got through the first two years of uni.
You make me sick .
I was a person who never really had a problem with Gnome Shell.
Easy to use, Works out of the box, and can be customized.
I do see why people do not like it, but that hasn't stopped me. That's the good thing in OSS Development. I'm a simple man. As long as I get a terminal and a good looking UI with minimal fiddling, I'm happy.

Maybe try generating your own API key, the dev keeps getting Google to increase the API limits on rclone's default key but it can still affect you. Info at the bottom of this page on how to do it.

They made a lot of enemies with MIR instead of focusing on a convergence compatibility layer for Wayland.
And Unity is a acquired taste to put it mildly.
Would've been better off laying the framework for adapting various DE's using Wayland to also work on mobile, atleast then they wouldn't be seen as SystemD 2.0

Nvidia continuing to fuck up product names.

Titan XP: Service Pack 1
Titan
Titan Black Edition
Titan Z
Titan X

Titan Xp
people were paid to come up with those names.
Oh my god. The saga of incompetence continues.
This one is short and sweet, though.
We got our app on the Play Store and sent to our testers.
... The sign up functionality did not work at all. It would never hook into the code to send the credentials to the server.
I made the mistake in assuming everything was tested, but this was clearly not.
not your fault if you couldn't call it by the right name. it was never Titan XP, it was the 2016 Pascal-powered TITAN X.
