Sipwicket content:
I'm extremely disappointed in him for uploading this, I expected better.
The amount of conjecture in that video was painful
You'd think a guy whose hobby and now career revolves around computers would have at least an inkling of an idea about how non-trivial creating an AI that replicates a human consciousness is. Why even hide such an AI? What purpose does that serve anyone? This isn't MGS Peace Walker :v: [editline].[/editline] 8-Bit Guy really needs to get off this kick of no-research videos or those dislikes are just gonna keep on growing in number
Non-steamapi games with launchers just get tracked for the time the launcher runs for some. Really great for the refund policy steam has...
Especially great when the launcher has stuff to download after first launch on a slow connection...
Like I've said before. I don't call 8-bit guy a tool for no reason.
8-bit guy needs to stick to talking about how they did color on monitors before VGA and other shit like that probably
Like I've said before. I don't call 8-bit guy a tool for no reason.
Do you happen to know any better Youtube channel for the sort of stuff he's good at? Like his explanations of Commodore graphics or the retro tech reviews or even just the teardown/rebuilds. I've been meaning to find a channel to replace him, never found one (since Youtube's discovery is ass and a half).
Unfortunately no. I have not seen anyone better than him when it comes to him mind you on occasion you swear he's reading straight form Wikipedia. I mean, LGR is pretty cool, but he's game oriented, so once you stray off the software path he gets pretty confused about he's talking about.
I really like Techmoan. He reminds me of me, because he is and admits to be an amateur but still gets into the electronics and shows his research. His Commodore repair video is some of the most relatable stuff I've seen on youtube. I don't think there's anyone quite like him for software, though. LGR maybe, but for higher-level stuff there's an untapped market.
If I ever get into Hi-Fi equipment, it's going to basically be directly because of Techmoan
It's irritating that there are still (afaik) some holes in your ability to regain control of windows. If logging off from ctrl+alt+del can instantly close everything you should still be able to do something if a game hangs and refuses to let any other window be rendered.
"So, Skynet isn't evil" ohhhmygodd 8bitguy. it sure sounds awful but just stick to what you're good with
Just did a college cybersecurity competition in my region (SE USA) and my team won it, beating out Clemson, USC, and a few other schools. Was a defensive one, so we had a bunch of Linux/*nix VMs and windows boxes running various parts of a site with DBs and services that a Red Team of pen testers was attacking the whole time, as well as a Endian firewall we could use. We actually threw the hackers a bit of a curveball by strictly restricting outgoing traffic, fuckin' them up when they tried to plant reverse shells on our boxes.
I think I have a bad tape in my library. Whenever tape CG0022 is loaded into a drive it fails whatever it is doing and the drive flags code 4 (Microcode or tape drive problem. Tape drive determined that a microcode or tape drive hardware failure occurred.) Looks like I'll have to rebuild my working set from an older backup.
Just did a college cybersecurity competition in my region (SE USA) and my team won it, beating out Clemson, USC, and a few other schools.
Having been around many USC students and fans (it's my home city) that's honestly not saying a lot :v:
The amount of conjecture in that video was painful
So much of it goes beyond mere conjecture and into outright conspiracy theory territory. It's legitimately pants on head retarded.
So much of it goes beyond mere conjecture and into outright conspiracy theory territory. It's legitimately pants on head retarded.
I skimmed through it and here's the timeline of what i saw, very Alex Jones-esque. Description of artificial intelligence from 1930s examples with computational brains A description of a brain through a peanut butter and jelly sandwich analogy A scene from Terminator Thus "skynet is not evil" Enough said.
Shut down my webhosting of like four years from namecheap. Need to keep the email domains up though. Any recommendations?
Hotel internet sucks. This 2/2 connection was such a bitch to work with but at least it was free.
If I ever get into Hi-Fi equipment, it's going to basically be directly because of Techmoan
Techmoan already puts my setup to shame, and its all I really need these days. (Unit and speakers connected to a PC) I mean I could get a CD player but what is the point?
I don't have a DVD drive in my computer so I got a CD player for 10€ at a thrift shop, it had been played for less than 24hrs and the price of a new on was 200€ :v:
Hi-Fi components are cool, but really all you need these days is an amplifier... You don't even need that if you've got active speakers, but a proper home stereo will always have passive speakers if you ask me.
Over the ear IEMs are far too comfortable, I've had these in from 7:00 til 22:30.
I keep catching myself looking at the dates of my backups. The last time I ran a backup was July 2016 so I keep freaking out that I've lost almost a years worth of work but then I remember the server hasn't been running for almost a year so I've lost nothing.
Shut down my webhosting of like four years from namecheap. Need to keep the email domains up though. Any recommendations?
You could set up a mailserver yourself, but it's usually a pain in the ass to set up, and pretty much all antispam software sucks. To keep it easy and to avoid most spam, i recommend getting a hosted solution like Google's GSuite or Microsoft's Office 365 (GSuite is probably a lot better, i'm only familiar with Office 365 though).
You could set up a mailserver yourself, but it's usually a pain in the ass to set up, and pretty much all antispam software sucks.
ISP blocks mail to stop spam both solutions will end up costing me more than what I paid for with my hosting provider by about 400%
I use GSuite for my mail and I absolutely love it. I set up and manage email for my workplace using MS Exchange. For the love of god, don't selfhost E-Mail. The amount of pain and shit you have to handle is not worth it at all. Not even close.
As I've said before, selfhosting is almost never worth it. Run.

I'm just using Namecheap's private email service, it's only $10 a year.
