i actually bought the signature edition on launch day didn't have any issues
I wish I was as lucky :frown: Vista BSOD'd my computer (ASUS P5E board, C2D E6600, 4GB DDR2, 8800 GTX I wanna say?) at the time every hour on the hour until SP1 came out. It was the weirdest fucking thing. Holy shit I was 12 when I had that machine...what a beast. All because my dad built a machine he didn't really need the power of. :v:
Oh fuck I'm on firefox now, it's been years
Oh fuck I'm on firefox now, it's been years
Just before FirExit too
I didn't have too many issues using Vista, then again this was after SP1 came out. I remember watching all of those Shopping Channel product videos talking about Vista and such.
So all of the "upgrading to Windows 10" articles online should really use an update. Apparently you can use the media creation tool to just upgrade to Windows 10, no longer the need to make a bootable USB drive.

I might be really late but does this creators update I just installed really do anything cool other than just some drawing crap?
My mom wants a tablet to supplement her phone and whatnot. Very casual use and such, figured a Samsung Galaxy Tab A would be good for her, especially related to the price/quality ratio. Any thoughts ? It's incredibly casual usage which won't go further than watching videos, playing occasional games and checking email, so 260€ (counting extra stuff like a sleeve, a screen and a powerbank) sounds very reasonable for it.
Been like that since day one.
He means none of the articles mention it actually DOES the update. The name of the program just makes it sound like all it does is make bootable Windows 10 media. It took me off guard. I downloaded and ran it and a few windows in I realized "oh shit, this is ACTUALLY the update!"
I might be really late but does this creators update I just installed really do anything cool other than just some drawing crap?
windows ink has been in since rs1

It's just not worth using because upgraded installs of Windows are always unstable as fuck because Microsoft can't figure their shit out.
Not really, overall W10 did a really good job with upgrade installs, especially from 8.1
Yeah and that's been a feature of the media creation tool from day one. My 7 - 10 upgrade went smoothly, despite a hardware change making the installation of 7 very unstable.

AMD's products in general stir things up on reddit, youtube comments and places like that. I don't have anything against AMD but it just happens for some reason. It's almost like the pc mustard race vs consoles "discussions"
Yeah and that's been a feature of the media creation tool from day one. It's just not worth using because upgraded installs of Windows are always unstable as fuck because Microsoft can't figure their shit out.
I can understand that if you are running an old Windows 7 instance where you already have shit setup and installed but if your install was like mine and only a day old with nothing configured or installed yet the transition is flawless. So an experiment was tried today. A machine running the Symbolics TCP-IP stack and a telnet server were setup for the purpose of exposing 80's era enterprise tech to the modern internet without a firewall. Almost immediately portscrapers found it. The telnet server process crashed after six minutes of chinese bots trying to connect. The Lisp machine halted a minute later because it ran out of paging space.
Been like that since day one.
Then why does almost every article that talks about upgrading from Windows 7 to 10 either involve installing specific updates and waiting for the popup to show up or using the Media Creation Tool and making a USB drive do the upgrade?

There is a lot of misinformation and half truths when it comes to this stuff. But yeah, this is how I upgraded from 8.1 to 10, so its been possible since release.
Good to know, I wish I knew it earlier because at some point I tried the "update Windows 7 to latest and you'll get the pop-up" and "make bootable USB drive and install off it" when trying to upgrade a Windows 7 machine to Windows 10.
Installing updates is still important to the procedure, as it will fail if it isn't mostly up to date, but that's really only a problem if your doing a fresh 7/8.1 install or haven't been patching.

Also did one using a shitty c2d not knowing you can buy a high end Xeon for the p5 motherboards with the pin mod for better price to preformance.
Servo got some windows builds today. It's interesting using a browser that's still in early alpha [t]https://tenryuu.blob.core.windows.net/astrid/17-04-14_01-40-31-browser.html_-_Servo.png[/t] The footer :neat:
