I managed to crack the lens cover in my m7 somehow and now that provides additional cooling for the camera so no pink tint for me
But the battery is dying and usb cables fall out of the port when you look at them too hard

Set up my Windows server with CMD over SSH and sftp.
Finally, a remote access tool that doesn't take three years of powershell experiance to set up

That was back when phones were viewed as tools for communication or working on-the-go.
Now they're marketing hyped fashion statements.
[SP] RIP horisontal QWERTY slideout keyboards [/SP]
Finished adding a new feature about an hour after the build completed (meaning it won't be released for 2 weeks) and a client called up excited that it was done but that was all shattered when she found out about the release schedule.
They are two hours behind us so I guess I'll just patch them a fix tomorrow morning after the update has deployed because whatever.
Development work complete. This will be in the next update, released in the next 10 business days.
They get one of these emailed but so many times people either call or email us hours later asking why something is still broken.

I wouldn't get a slide out keyboard phone either..

Honestly, I never found 4 MP all that limiting. It just started to show it's age a lot faster when higher MP sensors caught up in low light performance.

Shit OS and also manages to make the specs of my Desire Z still seem acceptable in comparison.
I just wish Android wasn't crammed full of tracking and that SD cards didn't get beyond nerfed due to clinging onto FAT32, but thankfully there's third party ROMs for those problems.
There's nothing saving THAT from stagnation like Windows phone suffered from.

I honestly disagree that Meego is a genuinely shit OS. It's dated and not a real option now but it's well built and can natively run Debian for Arm packages
Had to borrow my brothers One M7 last year for a while, and just god damn that pink tint! Also battery was pretty trashed as well, below 20% would result in it dying under any semi-high load
I have fond memories of my One M8, it was a pretty good phone and a great update to the M7. Pity HTC has no idea what direction they want to go these days.

Shame AT&T absolutely fucks everyone who wants to use custom ROMs. I can't wait to jump ship to T-Mobile.

As someone who's about to make the jump to smartphones and stuck with AT&T (have mercy on this dumbphone pleb), what exactly does AT&T do to those with custom ROMs? (Assuming this will be the only way to root a Galaxy S8 Active)
Every AT&T phone I've had since the One X has a locked bootloader and AT&T never allows you to unlock it, even when there's an official method to do so.
For example, with my Moto X 2014; After Lenovo chopped support after only a year, they set up a program to allow people to unlock their bootloaders and use custom ROMs if they wanted. However, it was still subject to the carrier allowing it. AT&T did not allow it, while even Verizon did.
I have an LG G5. LG has an official program where developers can unlock their bootloaders through them, at the cost of waving their warranty (which is to be expected). However, like before, it's still subject to the carriers allowing it, and as far as I know AT&T is the only carrier that does not allow it.
Even back in the day when I had a One X - I had an earlier One X model where the bootloader could be unlocked officially, but then with a later model revision of the One X, AT&T stopped letting HTC give unlock codes to people with AT&T phones.
If there's an unofficial exploit to unlock your bootloader then of course AT&T can't do anything about that, but when there's official methods they absolutely will not allow it. And obviously without an unlocked bootloader, custom ROMs are not an option. Furthermore, exploits to unlock a bootloader seem to be non-existent for many phones; even popular flagships. Nobody seems to be willing to put the time and effort into finding an exploit for a single model of phone when unlocking your bootloader is as easy as just not having AT&T.
There might be some shitty off-brand phones sold through AT&T that don't have locked bootloaders but I'm pretty certain nearly every flagship phone has a locked bootloader.
Oh lol just buy an unlocked phone

I couldn't justify dropping $400 on my LG G5 outright instead of doing the payment plan just to get root/custom ROMs :v:
The Moto G5 Plus seems awesome and is unlocked universally and it's cheap enough to actually buy outright, but I got my LG G5 a while ago, long before the Moto G5 Plus was announced.

Ah, I've bought my last 4 phones outright. It's definitely my preferred method.

the only thing keeping me on it is spotify not counting towards data. not even 5 days into my cycle and i've already used 8gb of data from spotify.

AT&T coverage in my city is actually pretty god-awful whereas T-Mobile is pretty decent :v: Verizon has the best coverage here but fuck going to Verizon.

My new unlimited data/talk/text with AT&T is my sweet spot for sure. I did still have unlimited data and 700 minutes through Verizon up through 2015 but it was ungodly expensive.

Yeah obviously it wouldn't work out now, but with my limited experience, it was way more fluid than Android at the time (on worse hardware), and had some really cool UI ideas - swiping really worked well imo.

hell fuckin' yea I do
Holy fuck, I hate being on the support side of things.
I am a full stack .NET developer but we are contractually obligated to provide support to our clients, which of course is not unusual. But whenever error messages come up, they have to pull in members of the development team (usually me) and figure out what's going on.
Twice in the last week, our largest client has deployed only their custom code to the servers, and both times, shit stopped working. Naturally, they blamed our system. I ask them to check some things and lo and behold, the error is originating from their custom code, and it was working before the custom code deployment.
Why the fuck these fucks are testing in production is beyond me, but I'm getting sick of our system getting blamed when literally the only change is their custom code. And, both times, the error is because of something they have been doing wrong that was very clearly untested.
If shit is working fine, and then stops working after changing one thing, you wouldn't normally blame everything else, right?
Editing 4K GH5 footage on a laptop: terrible laggy idea.
