Pentium can fix Xp, but he can't fix photobucket
no one has to deal with his personal machine, but whenever photobucket is used for hosting public images, everyone here has to deal with a broken website
In order to bother dropping off a box of drives with a death threat, you'd probably have to at least live close by. Like, in the country at least.
Going back a few pages, I only see a few people with Canada on their flagdog.
And there's only one in that set that I've seen shitposting towards Pentium in a while.
And there's only about 450km distance between locations, so if one had family a bit up north, it would be feasible to take a small detour whilst going over.
I'm not gonna say I'm sure about my guess but it kinda seems possible.
If I lived in Canada I sure as hell wouldn't drop of a box with death threats, but after this I would totally drop some hard drives on the porch.
Probably an amiga fanboy that did it.
RIP pentium
Let's all do an investigation (read: witchhunt) I'm sure it'll go well /s
I'm down.
Wait I already did it.

I know where he lives, but I'm not going to Canada just to drop HDD's off.

A likely story

I said one logical thing in this room and five minutes later I'm already shitposting

No, and that's matrix, where they bridge their freenode room to their own protocol. However you can just use an irssi plugin to connect if you enjoy the irc feels
It's better than discord because it's open source and has video comms (via riot.im) : ^)

Riots interface isn't that great though, feels too minimal and small
Honestly, the most that's gonna happen in this case is have a police report filed right into the archives. It's pretty obvious this is a joke and the police won't be pursuing anything further.
Tbh it's worth it just to get a paper trail going in case anything escalates or continues.
My server processor came in... two weeks later than when I originally wanted it.
Do I give the guy a neutral eBay review for shipping me the wrong unit at first?

I'd say no. Mistake happens and it sounded like the seller did his best to correct the mistake.

I'll be passive aggressive with my positive review then :v:
My rule of thumb is positive as long as I eventually get the item, it is as described, and if there were delays the seller communicated things to me.
I find it a little silly that the seller should give the buyer a review though. The buyer should have automatic metrics along the line of timeline of payment, accuracy of payment (credit card failures or PayPal holdings), refunds, etc.

These "buyer metrics" are kept track by PayPal/eBay internally. Your account can be suspended if these statistics suggest you are determental to the marketplace and community
If it gets to me on time, in good condition and its what I bought I tend to give positive.
If any of those are not met I'm that person who gives negative or neutral.
One guy didn't send me my item for 3 fucking weeks then got pissy at me for bitching about it, reason why I knew he never bothered to send it was that the damn thing came by special the day after I said I'm taking this to ebay.
Some people are special.
Yo Pentium for real I'd report that honestly
I'm pretty sure the person who did it was joking but they had to go and be a huge creep and take the joke too far by sending a death threat with it. And then there's the slim possibility that they're not joking and we can't discount that slim possibility because of the death threat.
You can tell the police that they're probably joking but you want this on-file just to be safe.
[editline].[/editline]
Also if the sender is reading this and you were indeed just trying to make a joke, please have a little more tact in the future. Sending a message like that over something this silly on a forum is obviously a joke, but sending it to someone's doorstep with their real name and address? Totally not cool.
If it had a username or an alias that could be traced back to something here or in another place that Pentium posts, it would have been somewhat acceptable. There is nothing in that letter that can even give hint to who would have done that.

Wait, you're green too now?
On topic, I recently had to replace the keyboard in my Thinkpad. So I look for the keyboard FRU on ebay, and because I have a fancier backlit model it is $10 more expensive, I'm okay with this. I find a seller with the price I expect (as in, the same as everyone else) who sells a keyboard under the exact FRU with a correct photo of what I'm looking for and has free shipping.
So okay, I bite. I wait a week and it arrives, which should have been 2 days but they lied about what postage service they use. But whatever, it's free, I can let that part slide.
So I open it to throw it in my laptop and... the keyboard layout is wrong. It's a french canadian layout for a start (Gross.), then I discover it's not backlit (the thing I paid extra for). And then I try using it, and it feels cheap. Because it's not one of lenovos manufacturers. So it's a bootleg keyboard sold under a completely wrong FRU.
So the fun part starts in actually dealing with the seller. I ask for a return, I detail the situation completely and even provide comparison photos to what the correct FRU looks like. I make sure to specify that I paid extra for this fru and that the photo the seller used is a lie. What I get in return is... complete trash responses trying to do whatever he can to avoid acknowledging anything and giving a refund. Example: "Hi customer. Our this keyboard is with big enter .You old keyboard is with small enter key.But it can fit.Pls install it first to check if it can work well.any result ,pls let me know.waiting for your reply."
They clearly didn't even read my message. So I keep pushing, and after many messages and attempts to avoid dealing with the issue he caused, I say that if there is no progress here for something that is very clearly a bullshit sale, I'll ask ebay to step in. This works and he refunds me and tells me to ship it back.
I then made sure to give him the lowest possible rating and describe the lie in my description the best I could.

Lets not kid ourselves here. Ebay substantially favors the buyer in all disputes. You have to seriously be fucking with things to get banned, and even when you do, it's not hard to create a new account. Ebay doesn't give a fuck about the sellers. They only ban buyers when they are wasting substantial enough amounts of employee time to actually cost Ebay money.

That happened to me once with a phone.
Bought an Xperia Z3 from ebay, thinking it was the global unlocked version (D6603) based on the description and model number given in the listing. It was the japanese market variant, which had no band support for use in the US.
Fought with the eBay seller for about a week before they just said, in terribly broken english, to send it back for a full refund. Of course, I had to pay for the shipping. They never updated the description.
