What they should be doing is supplementing CSS, letting admins reduce their amounts of custom rules. Implement features you see commonly used that are essentially CSS hacks with actual implementations. Shit like proper notification bars, text accordions in the sidebar, etc. As it stands right now it sounds like what they want to do is make a new redesign, remove critical and highly-used features and forget whats important about your core feature-set. It's almost like I've heard that before...
Yeah it's pretty stupid that they're doing the "one or the other" approach and not just adding the new stuff to supplement CSS. There is absolutely no reason they can't do both. Will be a sad day for /r/ooer though.

Our report on chef watson was a success and the class and professor actually fucking laughed at my slides alternate endings
Every major website trying to be modern?
I was thinking Digg specifically.
I was thinking Digg specifically.
It also works with Youtube as best alternative example.
It also works with Youtube as best alternative example.
In my experience, Last.fm works pretty damn well as an example, and same for so many people I know and have seen. The new site is awful, I gave up on it entirely. Example, my old profile. https://www.last.fm/user/wingless185p Scroll right. All it took was a shitload of spaces. That easy to break.
It also works with Youtube as best alternative example.
Did you people forget about Labpunch?
Did you people forget about Labpunch?
'least that's self-admittedly a WIP.
It also works with Youtube as best alternative example.
Tumblr and Twitter as well
Got my RPI3, this thing is pretty cool. I'm surprised at how well it runs in general, and especially with Kodi. Seems like it could function as a very light weight general use PC instead of being specialized for something. Does anyone know if it's possible to cast to it somehow? Chromecast like?
I know! I'll start my own website! With blackjack... and hookers!
Labpunch has custom css

We use a closed source system to manage our site. Today, we got an update and it removes passwords from our session cookies. Yay! But not all is well. We have a replacement system thst creates session ids and all it does is create a random series of letters (20 alpha) We already had 3 collisions of people accessing each others' accounts.

I'd prefer to keep the password-complexity requirement but in the form of entropy estimates, not arbitrary rules.
Seems pretty good to me. I'd prefer to keep the password-complexity requirement but in the form of entropy estimates, not arbitrary rules.
Agreed complexity requirement really should be kept in, if you don't force people to choose reasonably good passwords they'll just go for something simple, I'm strongly in favour of random password generation rather than allowing the user to choose a password. Also increased password length to at minimum 32 characters (not forced of course), PayPal really piss me off with their tiny password limit and no pasting.
Part of the guidelines per the article is having a new password checked against a list of common and compromised passwords
A reasonable idea, although I'm not entirely sure how it'd work, I imagine each website / application would have their own dictionary or maybe a shared one, it doesn't help though against brute force attacks on a weak password that is not in the dictionary.
How many characters/bytes is the session token?
20 upper/lower alpha
A reasonable idea, although I'm not entirely sure how it'd work, I imagine each website / application would have their own dictionary or maybe a shared one, it doesn't help though against brute force attacks on a weak password that is not in the dictionary.
It's mostly just to prevent users from using "catastrophically common" passwords, particularly ones that would technically pass some complexity requirements ("Password123!" is on my list of banned passwords, don't remember where I got it from). Just blocking the top hundred passwords covers like 50% of users, and returns diminish greatly after that.
How long do you think it will take to understand and control Active Directory. Shit's good to have on a resume [t]https://tenryuu.blob.core.windows.net/astrid/17-04-26_20-04-45-rn-2066_-_Remote_Desktop_Connection.png[/t]
Group policy is honestly my favorite part of active directory because makes managing large groups of PCs easy as fuck, but its also the part that has the most nuance, especially if you are managing an existing network with poor documentation. Protips: When using security filtering to selectively apply policies to certain users within OU's, make sure sure the policy allows Domain Computers to read the policy. It won't apply otherwise. If your user policies aren't working (or not working as you expect), check if loopback is enabled in a different policy and set to "replace". You will thank me later. It makes user policies computer specific, which is handy in certain scenarios, but really annoying for others. GPResult and Resultant Set of Policy are your friends for troubleshooting. And GPUpdate when your impatient. Computer Policies only apply on boot. User policies only apply on login. And are updated every 90 minutes (give or take a few random minutes) by default, GPUpdate or reboot. Before you make a write a script to do something for a policy, CHECK IF IT IS ALREADY IMPLEMENTED IN GROUP POLICY. For the love of god please do this. For example, you do not need to write VBScript to map drives to users anymore. Otherwise you run into the the "network that has 100 different VBscripts that reinvent the wheel and you must manually read through because the documentation is fuck you". And built in stuff tends to fail more gracefully than scripts. Also for scripts, please use Powershell when you can. VBScript works, but its painfully verbose. Its also on its way out for Windows administration, its really mostly there for legacy purposes. Also for Active Directory, although you won't always have it, installing the Remote Server Adminstration Tools makes life easier. Then when you want to manage AD stuff and Windows Server, you don't have create an entire remote desktop session to a domain controller.
Gotta have a Windows Pro license on the computer to install RSAT, but yeah it's a godsend. Its the perfect compliment for my Pfsense/dns server and my test VM on my desktop. [editline]26th April 2017[/editline] I'm gonna be starting my practicum for school in a bit, wonder if the company will allow me to use RSAT. I swear I cannot open Active Directory Administrative Center or Active Directory Users and Computers off domain.

The user account that you run RSAT on must be able to authenticate with the domain controller (or whatever other server).
Houston, [t]http://i.imgur.com/o9hXZ5S.jpg[/t] everything's just fine. Need to finish backing up my old laptop before I mess with this though. The only defects I've been able to find so far are the mentioned small chips at the top of the bezel. The battery is probably shit but I was expecting that, will have to test it. Seriously though, I had to stare at the thing for 5 seconds until I could first see where the bezel had chipped, they're so small.
puts the switches in upside down doesn't think to just swap vcc and ground on the switches, leaves them upside down 8-bit guy please
