Urgent I need a good lightweight website to have my raspberry pi auto-refresh on every 30 seconds for a stability test at work. Something with updating content constantly so it's obvious when it's stopped working.

The main site does but that particular page won't. [editline]12th May 2017[/editline] Also it's too much page. I was looking for something a bit more widget-y. Something that'll look nice sitting on a monitor for a week.

You know, I wasn't among the first to upgrade from XP to 7, but once I got used to the new taskbar it was perfectly fine and I never had serious complaints. Upgrading to Windows 10 even at this late a point and after using it professionally for months it's still the worst.
What exactly are you trying to do here?
My boss had me put together a raspberry pi zero w that just sits on a page and refreshes it. Forever. He wants me to stress test it by leaving it sitting doing that for a week. So I'm trying to find a nice website that updates often enough it'll be obvious if my setup stops working. So far I've just got it sitting on Google News, but that looks too much like a website and not enough like a kiosk.
I was listening to music and Windows 10 decided it was a good idea to update the Intel sound drivers.. and tell me a reboot is required to start using this device. REALLY. Either that or it broke and it's just telling me I have to reboot to fix it. Either way, what the hell.

See:
i noticed this: https://files.catbox.moe/qjg0e9.png (program is mpc-hc) when a program tries to set itself as default, windows tells me to go to "settings > system > default apps" even though that location doesn't exist anymore with the creators update because it was moved to "settings > apps > default apps"
Microsoft feels like a software company where all the software engineering is done by interns
Near-monopoly status due to a lot of programs refuses to work with anything but Windows or hacky WINE shenanigans allows them to be absolute dicks and get away with it.
Windows 10 is so schitzophrenic and inconsistent and aggressive and constantly changing that I still can't bring myself to put up with it. Both computers I've used it with were far happier under Windows 8.1 or 7.

Uh oh. Looks like there's another bug found in Ryzen.
Almost immediately since the Ryzen CPUs became available in March 2017, there have been various complaints about problems with Windows XP in a VM and with running 16-bit applications in DOS boxes in Windows VMs. After analyzing the problem, it’s now clear what’s happening. As incredible as it is, Ryzen has buggy VME implementation; specifically, the INT instruction is known to misbehave in V86 mode with VME enabled when the given vector is redirected (i.e. it should use standard real-mode IVT and execute in V86 mode without faulting). The INT instruction simply doesn’t go where it’s supposed to go which leads to more or less immediate crashes or hangs.

The workaround is simple—if possible, mask out the VME CPUID bit (bit 1 in register EDX of leaf 1), which is something hypervisors typically allow. Windows does not require VME and without VME, XP can be booted normally on Ryzen CPUs, at least in a VM.

Uh oh. Looks like there's another bug found in Ryzen.
Eh, in the grand scheme of things, that doesn't affect most people. It's an FDIV bug, not a F00F bug.
Eh, in the grand scheme of things, that doesn't affect most people. It's an FDIV bug, not a F00F bug.
They shipped a broken implementation which either means their test suite never caught it, or they decided it's not worth disabling it in microcode or the CPU itself. If the test suite didn't catch it, I have trouble trying to think of a use case where that would actually come up. It's such an arbitrary set of things you have to do in order to hit it.
Finally changed my avatar.
Hey remember when Linus was bitching about spending so much money to buy some RED cameras and the accessories? Well..
It's such an arbitrary set of things you have to do in order to hit it.
From how I read it, if you run server 2003 in a VM it insta crashes as soon as the display driver loads. Someone running that seems a lot more likely than XP, even if both are now EOL.
Just got off a phone interview for a job at Elgato Gaming. Fully remote, with a few flights to SF a year. Pay in general is much better. Will do another call monday, but it seems like I basically got the job. I'm trying not to hype myself, but everything about it seems so perfect.
What position?
Basically first response social media support and general help. The shit I do in youtube comments already. But now I'd be paid.
Basically first response social media support and general help. The shit I do in youtube comments already. But now I'd be paid.
That's always a nice move, going from doing something for nothing then getting paid for it.
That's always a nice move, going from doing something for nothing then getting paid for it.
Considering they even use a guide I made for their HD60 Pro, and send it to customers to help them. I'm an ideal candidate.

At that point those who manages it knows they have to be thorough with testing before deploying hardware upgrades.

I guarantee you not a single person was looking at buying a Ryzen because they were planning on writing a brand-new program running in 16-bit virtual real mode, let alone one using weird extensions to V86 mode. Are there people who still need that? Yes. Are they looking at buying a Ryzen system? Probably not - remember, the only Ryzen chips out right now are desktop ones, the Naples chip is due later this year. And even if they are, well, there's a workaround, there could be a firmware update to fix it, and they pretty much have to have a functional hardware system already. It's the smallest of deals.
I haven't had any issues with W10 yet but I won't be upgrading my families computers from W7 any time soon. The UI is understandable, no big problems have stood up (for a common user) and I simply upgraded from W7 - no driver issues or anything. I can't see what a common user has to be doing to fuck up the transition from W7 to W10 - the MS Office suite works fine, the user stuff works fine as long as you don't connect it to your Microsoft account and everything is almost where you expect it to be. For a poweruser though, W10 still seems to be better than W7: more fun things and you can remove the unneeded or obstructive crap with some registry fixes.
