There was a pretty good thunderstorm last week.
I was expecting wrath of god levels with all the warnings (there was even a county wide alert using the emergency system on TV) so I set up at the window to watch, and there was a few good bolts and not much else
On top of this last winter being the worst I've ever experienced living here. Ever seen lighting in a snowstorm? :v:
It might've been different over the river or it might just be too far back for you to remember but the '95 (or '96? I forget which year exactly, it has been kinda 20 years, lol) ice storm here in Portland was definitely worse. We had like 8" of snow covered with a crust of 1/2" or so of ice. The tree in our front yard was so covered in ice we couldn't even get out the front door because the branches were so weighed down. Speaking of thunderstorms though we had what had to be the loudest thunderclap I've ever heard earlier. Woke me up from a dead sleep when I had both my AC and a fan going drowning out noise.
Win 10's icons are one of the few things I actually prefer over 7 lol [editline]13th May 2017[/editline] they aren't really flat either; they're either isometric or head-on and all very clean looking.. the main problem with them is they're very different from legacy icons (which are still hidden in many corners of Win10) [t]http://i.imgur.com/XkKoOB7.jpg[/t]
What I really like about Windows icons is that they are sometimes really accurate to what you have. i.e. the Dell mouse on my parent's home computer or the Dell display. The icons were bang on accurate and I realized it's someone's job to make icons for products.
Psst. Give Manjaro a shot.
I'd recommend Antergos over Manjaro because Antergos is literally just an easy installer for Arch while Manjaro maintains some packages of its own.
I'd recommend Antergos over Manjaro because Antergos is literally just an easy installer for Arch while Manjaro maintains some packages of its own.
Manjaro just holds packages back like one week for a little more stability testing. If you're gonna go with Antergos you might as well just do vanilla Arch.

Ultrawide vs triple monitor? What would you guys go for? I have a triple monitor setup right now but I want a more elegant solution (no bezels, less cables, more sleek looks in general)

I rarely use nvidia surround to merge them. The Dell Bezels are THICC so it is probably playing it's part in that
btw I'm in france and the weather is much more comfortable here than it is in Denmark where it's super windy all the time. But I guess that's why we make so much coin on wind energy... [editline]14th May 2017[/editline] Also I got to use an FS5, I felt so at home since the firmware is really similar to that on my NX100. The super slowmotion feature is magical.
The aftermarket battery I got for the X220 wasn't properly balanced, so it's been shutting down at full load. I think it's finally starting to balance out after some cycles, but I'm not going to call it done yet. But I'm mildly surprised about the Turbo Boost, the CPU is listed on ARK has 2.6 base with 3.3 max. It's hovering around 2.9-3GHz under constant heavy load. [t]http://i.imgur.com/PQbB13c.png[/t] The fan's definitely eating up a lot of battery. Also, as I was writing the protection on the battery pack just finally kicked in around 10.7V and the laptop shut off, definitely still ways to go...
Dude the weather is actually super nice today, you're totally missing out. That said, last two-three weeks have been some windy ass shit.
We had heavy snowfall earlier in the week over here where I live, and I live really far down south in Finland. You can actually get here from the Gulf of Finland. Weather's been shit. But I'm going to say that in a month, maybe less, you can pretty safely go out with shorts.

At least for me, that's a lot more screen space than an ultrawide. Oh and when video editing, I can have one of the displays act as a TV play-out (it just plays whatever is on screen, but full screen).

So I went to apply that patch Microsoft released for the NSA backdoor fiasco and apparently there was a bunch of other updates waiting as well. Is there seriously no way to tell Microsoft to shut the fuck and not ever try to download specific updates? It wants to update my nvidia drivers but in doing so it will break them because the Microsoft ones blow chunks. I had the same issue on my shuttleX. If I let it update to the WDM Nvidia audio drivers the audio would not work at all.
Not trying to play into the thinkpad meme but can anyone recommend a thinkpad or thinkpad clone, it can be an ivy bridge or something that old
T430 is Ivy and a damn solid machine
Over the last week or so I've noticed my CPU chart looking more like this: Looks like W10 is more seriously locking most stuff to one CCX, Even overwatch will do it. Interesting.
Windows 10 seems to do this weird thing where when in idle, the screen turns off and after a long time (lets say an hour), it will never wake up/get the screen to turn on again. Peripherals and such don't wake it up so the only way is to either wait (forever) or restart the computer.
You sure it's not going into hibernate or sleep?
Yup, the computer affected is still physically on. Peripherals are still lit up and everything. The power options has it to never sleep, but it will turn off the display after x number of minutes.

A few days ago, I put my PC to sleep but the screens plugged into the GPU were still lit up. That was weird.
