G500 has bad built quality on top of sensor not being great on cloth. I think it's much wiser to get a G400 than a G500. I don't know much about the sensei but if it has the same sensor as the xai it won't be great on cloth either.
How is the build quality bad and how does it not work well on cloth? I'm using mine on a steelseries qck and it works great.
How is the build quality bad and how does it not work well on cloth? I'm using mine on a steelseries qck and it works great.
I've had two. The first one got a loose sensor after a few hours and it rattles like a box of chocolates. Second one worked longer but it still felt like a rattling brick. Even though I always liked a heavy mouse. The deathadder and xai are lighter but just feel much more solid. I have the qck too. If you haven't tried other mice you will probably not notice that the g500 has acceleration and just isn't very precise on the qck. Compared to the deathadder though it's easy to notice the g500 is inferior.
Do i get the death adder or the freaking g500, also which one would be better for bigger hands?
I have humongous hands and I have a Deathadder. It's perfectly fine.
Do i get the death adder or the freaking g500, also which one would be better for bigger hands?
Well I'd recommend the deathadder but you wanted on the fly dpi buttons. The DA doesn't have those. But you could assign for instance middle mouse wheel button to on the fly sensitivity switching. Both the g500 and da are good for big hands, I got pretty big hands too. Wouldn't get the sensei if you want a mouse for big hands. If you don't mind the issues I mentioned about the g500 above go ahead and get one, many people seem happy with it but I would never recommend one. You could also check some reviews about the g400, I bet it's better than the g500.
Do i get the death adder or the freaking g500, also which one would be better for bigger hands?
Get the Deathadder. It's been too long that Facepunch has had a Logitech bias (as I once did), it's time we made progress.
Get the Deathadder. It's been too long that Facepunch has had a Logitech bias (as I once did), it's time we made progress.
I set up a poll in H&S, I'll give it 8 days and facepunch will basically choose for me.
I set up a poll in H&S, I'll give it 8 days and facepunch will basically choose for me.
The G500 will probably win if you make a poll like that, just because I said it's been far too long that FP has had a Logitech bias does not mean that the bias is dead. In fact, it's only begun to die within this thread, but not that many people visit this thread regularly. Often times people buy a Logitech mouse and think that's that, no reason to compare to any other brand since they're happy with what they have. But that's like being happy with a shitty computer. Yeah it can play games, but it won't get nearly as much FPS as newer PCs and won't be able to display them as nicely either. The usual comments regarding Razer from people who don't use the products or haven't done too much research is "shitty build quality" or "overpriced" and etc.. While some of the products may have those issues, the Razer Abyssus and Deathadder completely contradict it, as they have fine build quality and are modestly priced as well. You can't just let others decide, you need to decide for yourself. Try going to the esreality or Quake Live or whatever forums, they have good topics on mice (as opposed to other topics on other forums that basically just compare how many button the mice have, if they have adjustable weight, and how much DPI they have [DPI doesn't matter], which is basically what the Logitech reviews consist of). [editline]2nd May 2012[/editline] Would people be in favor of perhaps a new mouse thread? I believe that the original post should be the most important part of this sort of thread, and Ooops: 404 hasn't been around for a few months (due to the banning perhaps), and didn't really leave that great of an original post behind. I think the new creator should be one who is interested in mice but isn't biased to any single brand (I may criticize Logitech but I would represent them), and should have already been active to some extent within this thread. I would like to make the thread, but if anyone feels that they would want to do it, they should let me know and we can decide.
Do the G400 drivers provide a sensitivity setting? Apart from dpi I mean.
Wooops quit FP after about 7 of his alts got perma'd.
Alright, I'm trying to be economical on a new mouse. Won't set a max budget, but if I'm spending more money, it better be worth it. I think I want to go with the Corsair M60, but the Deathadder, G500, and RAT7 are also up if the price is right. EDIT: Also, I'm having lots of problems with Logitech's drivers, so I'm more reluctant to go with them. Currently have a G5.

Just don't install SetPoint.
Do you mean SetPoint? If so, why are you using SetPoint? Just don't install SetPoint.
As far as I know, it's the only way to change the DPI settings.
As far as I know, it's the only way to change the DPI settings.
Yep, and that's the reason that I want to upgrade mice, because changing DPI resets the mouse to the default DPIs instead of mine. Deathadder doesn't even have the changing DPI feature, but I would get one if there could be a keyboard function to change the DPI. Otherwise, I'm considering the M60.
I haven't really noticed the positive acceleration with my G9x. In fact, I have enabled the acceleration option in SetPoint. I used to play without aceeleration but I find this more comfortable.
Are people interested in this idea? Suggestions/proposals?
I fully support this notion. I'd suggest calling it 'Mouse Buying Guide Q2 2012 Edition' or something, and have a mod change it whenever you update so people know how up to date it is.
Does anyone have an M60? I still feel like it's a better choice for me, but don't want to dive in without hearing more about it
Does anyone have an M60? I still feel like it's a better choice for me, but don't want to dive in without hearing more about it
I don't know, I have a feeling you'll enjoy the HK21 more.
I don't know, I have a feeling you'll enjoy the HK21 more.
I don't think that's USB compatible.
Are people interested in this idea? Suggestions/proposals?
Do it! You seem to know a lot about mice. Team liquid has a decent mouse thread if you want some inspiration.
Something else: which mousemat should I choose for gaming? What surface should it have? Does it depend on the mouse? I am probably going to get a g400 or deathadder.
Something else: which mousemat should I choose for gaming? What surface should it have? Does it depend on the mouse? I use a qck because I like the feel of cloth pads, they should be really cheap too. Only thing you should watch out for is using a laser mouse on a cloth pad.

Both felt pretty good but the deathadder had a more comfortable sidebutton placement for me. The g400 however costs almost half of that the deathadder does. So except the ergonomics what are the differences between them? I heard that the deathadder has a high lift off distance and may break quickly too.
Don't know about the high lift off distance, simply hasn't been an issue for me with any mouse. I can say that out of the G5, G500, Xai and DA the DA has been the most sturdy for me.
Are people interested in this idea? Suggestions/proposals?
Yes, do it
I bought the M60. I really like it so far, haven't had a chance to game yet though.
What are some good lefty mice? $40 +
