Just ordered the Deathadder Black Edition. Should arrive in a week. Welp.

Lefty Deathadder.

You'll love it.
Just got a Steelseries Sensei earlier today, I already like it a lot more than the Sidewinder X8 I had.
I have a Razer Deathadder at the moment but I just hate the surface on the site, always gets weird and icky. Although I love the shape of it and it suites my hand so good. Is it a dumb choice to buy a Deathadder Black Edition just to get the same surface as the top on the sides? By the way, my left click is starting to get weird so I'm not just changing because of the surface.
Is there any cheaper or better alternatives? The Steelseries Sensei looks quite interesting but the LCD and all that seems just... dumb?
If your main gripe is the side buttons, then go for the Black Edition. Otherwise only mouse in the DA's league in terms of sensor quality is the G400.

You can turn the LCDs off if you want to, though the "pixelated" steelseries logo will still be there, just not lit up.

What, like the Sensei RAW?

which right now costs £10 more than the sensei due to being newer
Edit:
I mean seriously, the steelseries website says $59.99 which is about £37, yet anywhere you can pre-order it at the moment it costs >£50... guess when it comes out and more stores get it the price will go down

Thanks man, I weren't aware of them making it.
I was thinking about grabbing a Logitech G700. But I'm not to fond of the battery charging method where I'd plug in the cable every so often to recharge it... Call me lazy if you will. If it included some sort of a battery/charging dock system like the mamba or the RAT9 it would be perfect.
I guess I'm going to have to settle with the RAT7 Contagion version or a G500, I can't think of another "popular" mouse that doesn't have rubber where the palm rests. After using mice with rubber coating of any sort, I find it disgusting after a few years of use because the rubber on any mice somehow accumulates dirt from my hands (my hands sweat like there's no tomorrow). Like my death adder's palm area has a good few millimetres worth of yellowish gunk I can scrape and scratch off of. I never had a problem with the old G5 because only the sides were rubber and I don't sweat from my fingers. Even my desk has to be water proof because where my wrist lays usually gets really moist.

I don't think sweating gunk is normal.
I bought a G500 sometime late last year and a few months after buying it, I noticed while playing a game and holding the right mouse button it would "un-click" and then click again, I'm not sure how to explain this properly, but if I was playing heavy on TF2 and spun up my minigun, it would stop spinning and then spin again, multiple times.
Is there anything I can do? I can't return the mouse.
I grabbed the G700 in the end.
As for the right click thing, have you tried opening up the mouse to see what is going on? I had a similar problem with the old G5 mouse back before I gave it away. I opened it up and just cleaned it out. I think sometimes dirty or dust or anything gets between the mouse click buttons and somehow under it. worked like new after a deep clean.

Hands get dirty and the accumulated dirt on your hands comes off. Rub your hands together really hard and fast, you should get some black buildup if you haven't showered for about half a day.
meh it works.

I love the wireless on my G700, my only complaint is if I need to charge it, the cable adds so much weight that it feels really uncomfortable to use.
Not much of a problem though seeing as it lasts a long time.

I agree. I think if we make the routine to charge it overnight every time that it wouldn't be much of problem right?
You should be able to connect the cable into a docking station so you could leave your mouse in the dock overnight.

True, I just let my mouse have a little one on one with my apple wall charger every night. At first I was nervous about it but I'm okay with it now. I've accepted it.
Why not just get a wired mouse?
Why not just get a wired mouse?
Because they already have and like the G700?
Because they already have and like the G700?
I wasn't suggesting that they switch, just questioning why you would want a wireless mouse over a wired one.
WEEUV
razer deathadder half price
Well my deathadder was getting old. It still works perfectly, I was just bored, I had the money, so I got the G700 lol
My only excuse was the 3+ years worth of shit that has accumulated on the rubber surface of the deathadder.
Besides, I'm moving to a new home and there were a few times that I wished I had a wireless mouse such as when I was laying in bed watching a tv series on my computer I had to get out of my bed and walk across the room to the computer to change something like which episode I'm watching. It's just nice to be able to just lay there and not have to get up to change whatever.
Second of all, the G700's midget of a receiver is really handy for my laptop in lectures when compared to my friends mamba because he either has to bring the mamba's dock or use the cable for the mouse to function which was too much of a bother for him and turned me off when it came to buying that mouse. With the G700 i just keep the receiver in the computer and toss my mouse into my backpack. No extra clutter.
I love the shape of the G700 especially the change from the G7 shape. The matte black top is exactly what I was looking for. The mouse has more than enough buttons on it, perfect for playing the new Diablo 3 with only one hand and eating with the other at the same time.
Though, the thumb buttons lack "umph" for it feels like there isn't an emphasized click but more or less just sinks into the mouse. It reminds me of the feeling of rubber dome keys when compared to the thumb buttons on the gold G5/G7 even the compared to the deathadder thumb buttons. I guess this could raise a problem for me when it comes to those panic moments in gaming because honestly there's 4 buttons on the side of this thing and if there isn't as much tactile feedback as my previously owned mice than I might accidentally press the wrong one. But all that is just a guess, I hope I don't have this kind of a problem.
Another minute thing I noticed is how the mouse generally operates and feels. Compared to most mice out there, the laser is positioned in the middle of the entire body. The G700's laser is mounted a bit upwards towards the fingertips. I've noticed when playing FPS games that my general movement from muscle memory has led me to aim slightly father from where I intended to simply because laser is mounted farther away from my wrist and thus (for example) a left rotation of my wrist would result in a farther distance tracked by that laser than it would if it were originally mounted in the centre of the mouse. For someone that doesn't use the mouse from the wrist, this wouldn't be as much of a problem but for someone like me who does, my movements have an added distance tracked to them so now I have to get use to this.
I will never ever go back to a wired mouse and yes I already charge mine overnight.
I get two days of use from one charge so it's no big deal.
[editline]18th May 2012[/editline]
I got used to the mouse sensor it's much nicer having it slightly at the front imo, takes a bit to get used to but since I have big hands I control it half half with my fingers and wrist, the front sensor makes my semi palm/claw grip a lot nicer to use because I don't need to move my wrist as far and still have the control.
Good for lazy people :V
I agree that the buttons aren't ideal, still nothing wrong with them they don't get in the way at all and I like that.
How long have you had your mouse for?
A month.
I just got back from the local computer store, such a nice sunny day here in Canada... Anyways, I grabbed myself a razer sphex to try it out. I had it on my passenger seat. I guess a gust of wind must've hit me or something but the wind took my sphex and it hit me across the face while driving and out then went out the window. I stopped my car on the side of the road to go fetch it because a truck drove over it and apparently the driver of the truck was very afraid lol telling me that you don't often see large black squares flying through the air everyday.
I give this product a recommendation for surviving a car accident.
