Might get a Deathadder in the future if I get too many problems with the Abyssus as some do, apparently the buttons can be a bit fragile in the long run (and the jittery sensor can take a few weeks to start fucking up).
Next mouse will be a Sensei, assuming its sensor is as good as the Xai?
Sensor is exactly the same, Sensei just adds a few useless features to make it more expensive and heavy (all the extra lighting).
I'd go for Xai over Sensei unless you want the looks and don't care about paying an extra $20 or whatever the price difference is atm.
Actually I'd get an Optical mouse over both of those.
Welp, after 4 faithful years, my beloved G9 is suffering from randomly disconnecting and reconnecting, so it looks like I need a new mouse.
I'm getting a used Xai first, see if I like it, and then probably get a fancy new Sensei if I do.
you could just replace the wire
The Kana is nice. Uses a new Pixart sensor so next to no prediction/acceleration. Although the buttons may be little bit stiff since they aren't omrons.

I've seen a lot of evidence of boot issues due to the Xai and the software and/or firmware hasn't been updated at all since 2009 which is a little concerning

I don't have soldering equipment, and fuck it, it's been 4 years.

All mouses I've had have the exact same 4 pin wire connector in it that you can just pop out and pop a new one in.

does this affect any newer motherboards utilizing UEFI

Welp. My side buttons are pretty effy too now though (mouse 5 doesn't regiter without holding down for 3 seconds, and mouse 4 registers twice), so again, I'd rather just move on.

send it to me
Not sure if I'm late but it looks like the Steelseries Sensei has dropped in price to $69.99 in case anyone was considering getting one.
If I recall, they're making a version that costs 70 bucks that has some features removed, not lowering the price.
Oh man, just got the Xai, its great but the negative and positive accel is fucking killer. Looks like I won't be getting the Sensei either.
Got my Razer Abyssus yesterday along with the Goliathus mousepad.
So far I'm enjoying it, don't notice any tracking issues or any of the jitter that some people report on their Abyssus (depending on mousepad). It's amazingly small and light which is also great. Mirror finish does require quite a few wipes a day though, and the liftoff distance is a bit high but that doesn't bother me too much.
Took some pictures of my Sensei, fuck this mouse is gorgeous.

Ever since I've gotten my G500 it's always liked to act up with the laser which I have to blow out every few minutes or so to stop it from slowing down
Are MX518s still in production? Although I'd miss the third side button that is oh so useful, laser mice are kinda annoying in terms of reliability.

Alternately, are there any reliable and solid optical mice like the MX518 but with a third thumb-button? I'd love something like an optical version of the G500.
The G400 is basically the MX518 with the good sensor and some minor differences, if that's what you're after. They're also branded all over with 'the new MX518' and whatnot.
Picked up a G5 for travel purposes a couple days back, its so much lighter compared to my G500

Wish I had a better Camera.
Good wireless mice that aren't too expensive? Fed up with this Arc touch breaking on me.

Nevermind it's working again.

G400
I bought the Razer Mamba and love it.
Be sure to post here again in 6 months when it breaks.
I don't know how well you know of brands like QPad and Mionix, but their mice are really good.
Personally i have a Mionix Naos 3200, and I will never go back to Logitech. It has no weight system, but its bigger brother, Naos 500 has.
QPad is known for their wide selection of mousepads, but they have also got mechanical keyboards and mice. They currently only have two mice, the 5k and OM-75, and both feature the five-finger grip, just like my Naos 3200 and the Naos 5000.
You should check them out:

For those who don't know, Logitech modified the sensor for the G400 due to complaints. If I recall correctly, there's no more faggoty angle snapping / prediction that plagued earlier G400's and ALL MX518s.
I was considering getting one but decided that the ergonomics weren't for me, and I'm done with Logitech mice for a while I think.
logitech mice ergonomics are pretty bad compared to what's on the market right now and this is coming from a guy with gigantic hands

Most mice ergonomics are going downhill though, at least from what I've seen. So many mice now use Logitech's shitty ergonomics.

I don't understand this. Could you go into more detail, maybe post a few articles?
Can't wait until MX518s become so cheap you can get 2 for 20 bucks so I can buy like 10 MX518s
Durable little fuckers
