whats a good upgrade from the g400
I changed to the g700 personally, its nice to have extra keyboard room, and it's wider and smoother IMHO, but that's just me
macro's are very very useful, I suggest getting a speed adjustable mouse with macros, Logitech is best imo
Sidewinder X8 MMB is broken and the replacement warranty has expired :( can anyone recommend me a new mouse for gaming? I'm in the UK and I'd like to spend around £30 as I'm pretty tight for money, can use eBay as well. I'd like it to have a couple of side buttons as well if that's possible as that's what I'm used to. Cheers!
Have a look at the Razer Deathadder,Logitech Mx518 or Steelseries Kana. I think there is a couple new version of the Mx518 such as the g400 or something close.
I got the Sharkoon Black Fireglider.
Its great, only £20 ish. Has a dedicated macro button, which you can make custom macros with on the software that comes with it, it has variable dpi from 600 to 3600, and the 2 side buttons. I think its great for the price.

If you really want side-buttons, I'd recommend the Razer Deathadder, Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, or the Logitech G400 (I'd pick Deathadder or IME 3.0 over the G400 though).
If you decide that you can go without side-buttons, I'd recommend the Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical or the Razer Abyssus. If you go for Abyssus though, you need to make sure you have the right mousepad to avoid jittering.
I looked at the Corsair M90 at Frys today. What do you guys think of it? I like how the extra buttons are set up, but I'm not sure if I could find a use for all of them. I feel like I could use more than my G5, but not as much as it has.

Links are bad.
Would questions about mouse mats go in here or not?
If they do, what would you guys recommend for a medium sided gaming surface, my old facepunch mouse mat is going all grimy on me.

qck
Seems perfect for me, just ordered one of them from amazon. Thanks for the advice.
What's a good upgrade from the deathadder? I think mine may be on its way out
There is no upgrade from the deathadder IMO. Buy another one or if you are sick of it maybe a g400.

Logitech G400/G500.
I need a new mouse, I currently have a sidewinder x8 and I LOVE it but I hate the fucking battery dying all the time and the cord falls off sometimes which is a pain in the ass. So I want a new mouse and I'm not getting anything wireless this time, I would like side buttons and up to 4000 DPI just like the X8 but I have no idea what to get. My budget is $100, Also DPI on the fly buttons would be nice along with side buttons.

Also another reason for not wanting wireless is this, LAN parties. Shit can get jacked REALLY easily at LAN Parties, especially public ones like Quakecon.

See my post above yours.
G500 fills all your requirements and is fucking awesome.

It looks awesome and gets some pretty nice reviews, But I do have a question about the R.A.T 7. Is it a good mouse and is it comfortable? Or should I just stick with the G500?

Oh and what about the g700?

I've always been of the opinion that the RAT series is gimmicky crap but I've never used one, I just think they look like shit.
G700 has about the same features as the G500 with the exception of being wired or wireless. Basically it has a battery and a plug in it so you can choose if you wanna roll wireless or wired.
IMHO the G700 is a massive gimmick and I'd stay away from it. G500 has all the features you requested, has a great puclic opinion and is pretty cheap.
Get the G500, you won't be sorry.

Will do then, also I just realized the g700 is wireless which is what I don't want lol.
g500 is a bad mouse
get a sensei
G500 has had tracking issues depending on what batch you got.
I have a RAT3, a Deathadder and a G500 (along various other crap ones) and I prefer the RAT3 as I tend to use a fingertip grip for FPS games.
[editline]1st May 2012[/editline]
Both G500 and DA are too heavy to use effectively in fingertip grip.
i use fingertip grip on da, it's one of the lightest mice that isn't shit
don't even put g500 and da weight in the same sentence

Yeah being able to easily unplug your mouse from your desktop and use it wirelessly with your laptop sure is a gimmick

It isn't gimmicky at all and the wireless is A grade not a problem at all. Only thing is it's a bit small for my hand but so is the g500. I have big hands.
So much logitech in this thread.
So wait, do I get the G500 or the sensei... I'm not a hardcore gamer or anything, all I want is a mouse as smooth as butter with my 2 side buttons and DPI on the fly buttons. Thats about all.

People complaining about the tracking issues of the g500 need to shut up, as far as I'm aware that was fixed a long time ago. I can't speak for the sensei since I haven't ever used one but I can speak for the G500 and it's amazing. Not saying the sensei isn't amazing but if they both meet your requirements then get the cheaper one/the one you think looks best.
Odellus is a massive troll and somewhat of a dick btw, don't listen to him.

I knew he was a dick wasnt sure about the troll part.
G500 has bad built quality on top of sensor not being great on cloth. I think it's much wiser to get a G400 than a G500. I don't know much about the sensei but if it has the same sensor as the xai it won't be great on cloth either.
