Around 200$ max right now, and 460w PSU
If your PSU can handle it , this will do just fine, might be a bit overkill for that dual core though.
Okay, heres a question. What is the lowest i can spend on building a pc that run gta 5 and rust, and have a good hdmi output for my tv. Basically all i need is a good solid tower that can run them with as high and fast as possible with hdmi capabilities Could someone make a list of the best to get, i dont know indepth about it all, I know i like nvidia though
[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/TkDhAZ.png[/t] I'm planing on upgrading my RAM from 8 GB to 16 GB and replacing my Corsair Force 3 90 GB SSD with this Samsung 850 Pro 256 GB. Now, I was also thinking of replacing my 7970 with a GTX 970, however, I'm not sure which one to chose. I could either get this EVGA GTX 970 ACX 2.0 or this Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming. Is the Gigabyte card worth the price difference? Also, is the 3.5 GB VRAM problem still present in the 970 cards? And another question. If I were to get the EVGA GTX 970 ACX 2.0, is it possible to flash the bios on it to use the bios from the Superclocked or FTW edition of the card?
Building a new PC from scratch. Will be using it for gaming, programming, probably working in UE4 a bit. I'm interested in overclocking hence the 4690K. Here's what I've got so far, I think the motherboard needs changing. Also the Canadian economy is complete shit right now so prices are a little high, I'm trying to keep it around/below $1200. If anyone has any suggestions or modifications let me know. Installing the Noctua D15 was a load of dicks. Also my motherboard is prettier than I thought it'd be but it doesn't matter because the D15 is too large to see past.
Going for maximum budget and hopefully going to be building 2 of these for friends who have never PC gamed before. I don't really do AMD, so I was hoping to get some feedback on if what I chose packs enough power for the money, because on paper it seems great. I am positive they don't wanna fuck with overclocking so I'm gonna stick with the stock cooler. If you can stretch just a bit further, this will give them a better experience from the CPU front and quality of the case and PSU. You don't want to use the stock cooler with any AMD processor though, even at stock clocks. Alright heres my revised shitfit, took apart my ~5 years old rig today so i no longer need an optical drive and power supply, downgraded from i7 because i've learned the performance difference is minimal, went with the most barebones cheapest mobo i could find, found cheaper ram that fits the case color as a plus, ssd, threw in wifi adapter cause running ethernet isnt rly an option for me atm. Also dat case. mmmh. One other thing i'd like to know in particular is if/how many fans I should add, and some general air flow tips would be appreciated. I would not want to run an i5 on an H81 board, especially with a microATX H81's power delivery. Plus you'll possibly need an older Haswell CPU to update the bios to even use that chip. Get an H97 board. You can drop the CPU down to a 4460 if you need to. [editline]10th April 2015[/editline] Also you don't need that cooler.

I have a laptop hard drive that I can use which is why it's missing a main hard drive and why I'm buying two 2.5" hard drive brackets. Is there anything I'm missing/something I should look out for? Since I'm upgrading from a laptop, I'm pretty much starting from scratch besides the main hard drive so that's why I need HDMI cables too. I'm also worried about the "Some Intel H81 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs." note. I googled it and it either says I need to use an older CPU to update it (which I don't have) or use the CD that comes with it (and I don't have a CD drive)
My current computer was built circa 2008 and I am pretty sure it is outdated by now. I don't know much about computers, I just want one to play games on, so what would I need to play games like Skyrim (heavily modded, including those graphical enhancement mods), The Witcher 3, Battlefield, Grand Theft Auto V, World of Warcraft, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Star Citizen, to name a few, on the highest graphical settings? I suppose it would help to list a budget, so $1500 max should do it, right? Any recommendations for monitors, separate from the listed budget? My current monitor is set to its native resolution of 1600 x 900. There are a lot of builds posted here through PCPartPicker but I'm not sure which to follow myself.
$1500 would do the above phenomenally. I don't feel like clicking together a whole build right now, I'm at work, but the system you want contains an Intel Haswell i5 (probably the 4690k), 8GB or even 16GB of RAM, and a nvidia GTX 980. With such a budget you can also afford to get a decent sized SSD (like 250GB to 500GB, somewhere around there) plus a normal hard drive, whatever size you can afford. I'd recommend at least 2TB. With 1TB you might have to just buy another hard drive eventually, because when you have the hardware to run them all, the games start to stack up. I've already almost filled my 1TB drive and am shopping for a new one, so don't make the mistake I did. Unless you live in a highly affluent area around a bunch of nerds, you can be certain that with those parts, you'd have probably the best/fastest computer on your street.
So my new power supply isn't coming in till monday, you guys think that it will be okay if I used my old 650w Ultra LSP one for a few days? Unless you live in a highly affluent area around a bunch of nerds, you can be certain that with those parts, you'd have probably the best/fastest computer on your street.
I originally set a budget of $2000, monitors excluded, for a multi-purpose PC. I do sometimes play around in programs like DAZ3D and Poser but I mostly use the PC for gaming, and I figured, once I had the hardware to support some of the newer games being released, I wouldn't really have the time for rendering as often. Crazycory65 posted a build shortly after these posts with some of the hardware you recommended, minus the video card which is a 970 in that build. Should I just copy that specific build or switch the video card for a GTX 980?
I'd swap your mobo out for a cheaper H97 board. ~$70 most likely. As for the cooler just get a coolermaster T4. It's 10 bucks cheaper and still will be great.
Went with the Asrock Anniversary seemed to be the cheapest and from what ive read asrock is a reliable mobo brand also got the tx3 instead because it seemed like practically the same thing with an easier mount and cheaper price PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($214.89 @ OutletPC) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($17.99 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: ASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($71.99 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($53.10 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($75.79 @ Amazon) Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card ($332.49 @ B&H) Case: Corsair Graphite Series 230T Black ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.99 @ Micro Center) Power Supply: Corsair Builder 430W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($19.99 @ Newegg) Total: $856.23 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-04-11 01:35 EDT-0400
it feels like you're skimping out on the psu
it feels like you're skimping out on the psu
Should I get a higher voltage? The one I picked seemed like the best option.
Should I get a higher voltage? The one I picked seemed like the best option.
Nah, the wattage is alright. You should get a better quality though, the CX series is really lacking. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550sxxb9 [editline]11th April 2015[/editline] I know it's probably more than you want with the motherboard and PSU change, but it'll be worth it when you system still works like new in 5 years.
I know it's probably more than you want with the motherboard and PSU change, but it'll be worth it when you system still works like new in 5 years.
Thats one of my goals, so thats fine. My budget is flexible and while i'm trying to keep it under $1000 I want this to perform well and be as durable as possible. Think this build is nearly complete, is a 120gb ssd for my OS and a few games only a good idea? I plan on just wiping my old 250gb hdd and just reusing it for everything else, I don't see myself needing a 1tb, if anything I'd consider upgrading to 500gb at most
So I'm getting to the point where I want to upgrade my PC; it's about 7 years old and not really cutting it anymore. I put it together in 2008 but didn't really have any idea what I was doing, so now I'm not sure if it's best to upgrade parts or whether it's so old that it would be more sensible to do a whole new build? Where should I start if I do it piece by piece? I mainly use it for gaming but something that could handle AutoCAD and two monitors would be ideal. I'm not looking for top-of-the-range, just something that can handle most games comfortably. EDIT: 0.02 posts per day. It's been a while FP. Are any of the 970's favourable over the rest at this point?
MSi are doing great. solid buys. evga went a little less quality this time around, but honestly their warranties and tech support are still as great as ever. those are the top two atm

But then you might have to deal with ASUS customer support. No one wants that.

[editline]11th April 2015[/editline] Actually the Gigabyte version is looking pretty enticing right now
I hear msi 970s are notorious for coil whine
The 970 is general is notorious for coil whine, it doesn't seem to be exclusive to any specific brand. I've heard just as many coil whine problems from EVGA ones.
