Unless you have a special reason for it, I would save yourself the headache that building in a MATX case brings. MATX Motherboard usually also lack some features compared to ATX. If you need a small build, then by all means go for it.
Actually those cases are pretty damn easy to build in. I've built 20 i3/760 systems in those for a client.
You're paying way too much for that Sharpie. Most stores will sell the same ones for $1.69!
Ha, good to know. I'm hoping I won't be limited to one of the Bahamian stores here. Best I can get is an overpriced piece that'll be taxed out the ass and wouldn't even be fit for an office.

How can a PSU be rice?
Yeaaaaah it should be fine. Seems to be an issue with shadows with GTAV on the GTX 950 (don't go above very high and you're fine and it's that only particular setting) but yeah GTX 950 is a pretty decent budget end card that gets the job done. It's also very capable of handling Fallout 4 at Ultra with low godrays.
Okay, thanks. That clears things up.

so since i play 60fps with my 1080p monitor, is it even worth it going to 980/ti? Also is it possible that my HDD is bottlenecking some of my games that are open world based? like every time i start GTA or FO4 it starts to bog down real fast with my cpu using like 60-80% and my HDD being at 100% constantly.
I play all of my loading intensive games off an ssd and I love it, it's definitely the way to go. I do well at 1080p60 with a 970, but honestly with a lot of games being incapable of using traditional antialiasing, you'll want the headroom to be able to downsample from a higher resolution for super sampling. I'd get a 980 since you can get them for such a deal now. The 980ti would have you very comfortable for years and years, with lots of headroom for all the downampling you could want.
going to build a new toaster soon and i'm entire generations behind in hardware knowledge here. a little help? PCPartPicker doesn't work in this case since, well, i'm getting stuff from finnish retailers. 16 gigs of RAM is the recommended amount nowadays right? 600W power supply - sufficient for most things? would a GTX960 be a sound investment? if yes, would it be better to get th 4096 mb version or would the 2048 mb one be good enough for a while? what about the 970? i've got an ASUS Z97-P motherboard with an Intel LGA 1150 socket here - i've made a mistake here haven't i? i should have something with a 1151 instead, right?. anyway, what's the best "affordable" thing to stick into that? not looking for a mega amazing CPU but something that handles most things well enough, so not the cheapest piece of shit either. cooling fans? cases? operating system? Microsoft is shoving W10 up everyone's rectums, but if i find an alternative should i stick with W7 or get acquainted with W8.1? 60 FPS at 1080p is the target. budget is somewhere around 500-600, euro.
Hey all, how likely is it that prices will drop further for items tomorrow on sites such as newegg/amazon etc? Just don't want to hop on tomorrow and find that everything has gone out of stock.
Eh, the last two years have been pretty shit
For a few minutes there were refurbished EVGA 970s for $210 with no rebate, but they lasted a total of 5 minutes and didn't come back. I bought a PowerColor PCS+ R9 390 for $265 before rebate thanks to a Visa Checkout promotion, $245 after. Doubt you will see much lower than that for that league of cards.

Wanna upgrade my GPU, So my PC can handle GTA V a bit better and Just Cause 3 nicely. Currently have a ATI Radeon 7850 1GB Live in the UK, Budget probably around £200?
What's the difference between the GTX 760 and 970? Would it be worth it to upgrade when all a really play right now is GTA 5?
Wanna upgrade my GPU, So my PC can handle GTA V a bit better and Just Cause 3 nicely. Currently have a ATI Radeon 7850 1GB Live in the UK, Budget probably around £200?
Well AMD's R9 380X has just landed, slightly edging out over NVIDIA's GTX960, which you can buy for about £205, but NVIDIA's coming out with the 960Ti soon, which will hopefully beat that and be maybe only slightly more expensive; I'd hazard a guess at £220. If you stretch to £260, you can pick up a GTX 970, which is far better than all of those above.
What's the difference between the GTX 760 and 970? Would it be worth it to upgrade when all a really play right now is GTA 5?
the 960 is a more basic brand when the 70 series in all cards are more of an gaming brand. My 670 to this day can still run most games on max and is finally starting to show its age in the newer gen.
60 FPS at 1080p is the target. budget is somewhere around 500-600, euro.
What games? 60 FPS on ULTRA at 1080P on games like The Witcher 3 and GTA V this is not going to happen for that budget unless you already have some parts.
16 gigs of RAM is the recommended amount nowadays right?
Only on budgets over 1000$. Just get 8.
600W power supply - sufficient for most things?
Depends on the quality. A 450 Watt good quality PSU is usually enough. EG: Seasonic S2/Seasonic G/ XFX 80+
would a GTX960 be a sound investment? if yes, would it be better to get th 4096 mb version or would the 2048 mb one be good enough for a while? what about the 970?
If you want to buy a 960 the AMD380 is a better option (same performance but cheaper). Or the 380X.(Almost same price but better) Yes get 4Gb+ Yes the 970 is better but also out of your budget. It kinda depends what you want to do and at what resolution you are playing. The 970 does all the heaviest current games (The witcher/Battlefielfd 4/GTA v) on FUll HD at 50+Fps on ULTRA. (exept retarded stuff like Star Citizen and ARK). The 960/380 run them at about 30-40 FPS. Lighter games like Fallout 4 should be fine on all.
i've got an ASUS Z97-P motherboard with an Intel LGA 1150 socket here - i've made a mistake here haven't i? i should have something with a 1151 instead, right?. anyway, what's the best "affordable" thing to stick into that? not looking for a mega amazing CPU but something that handles most things well enough, so not the cheapest piece of shit either.
You already got one? Why? On your budget this is actually good, as 1151 stuff is overpriced for only a small gain atm. The 1151 may be the newer socket in the series but the difference between the last series and this series is so small that its not worth the upgrade if you already have a motherboard with 1150. The current sweetspot overclocking gaming cpu's are the i5-4690K for 1150 and the i5-6600K for 1151. I would drop the overclocking on your budget and save some money by getting the i5-4460 for your 1150 board or even the i3-4170.
cooling fans? Need to do a little GPU upgrade. Will a EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti work in a EVGA nForce 750i SLI mobo or will I have to settle for a 660?
What games? 60 FPS on ULTRA at 1080P on games like The Witcher 3 and GTA V this is not going to happen for that budget unless you already have some parts.
oh yeah should've said i'm not going for the latest hot stuff like those two (i'd be happy to run them even on medium presets at 30-40 frames honestly). smooth performance on the very highest settings would very much be preferable, but it's not mandatory. games nowadays have a tendency to look brilliant on a bit lower settings too, after all. after playing modern games for years at 30 to 40 frames on medium settings, running anything on High at that framerate would feel miraculous - but i guess that would be a fleeting feeling.
If you want to buy a 960 the AMD380 is a better option (same performance but cheaper).
Haven't found anything that worked on 7 that doesn't work on 10 yet.
absolutely brilliant. now i just need to make sure i actually have the money for all these parts plus an SSD that i'll install the Windows on. a regular HDD i already have. need to get a new monitor, keyboard and mouse too, luckily the latter two are piss cheap.
There was a 480 gig SanDisk sSD for 109 at best buy. Really tempted to get it regardless of quality
I was about to get one to RAID with my 480gb Intel 730 but it just felt wrong paring the two.
Is the MSI Z97 GAMING 5 motherboard worth getting? Or are there better boards available than that, but aren't above $200? The best one I see is the MSI board that's actually in stock and seems to be worth it. I plan on overclocking my 4690K to 4.5ghz at some point, and my current board can't handle anything above 4.1ghz for any decent length of time. The VRMs died on it and it was RMA'd and repaired, plus the features on it are limited and barebones for a $140 Gigabyte board.

CCL? More like CCLate. Ordered on the 20th, early morning, dispachted on the 26th, arriving on the 30th at £4.99 charge.
