it looks like a mid case and by my measurements the new mobo should clear the power supply on the bottom by just about a cm
for the record i swapped the mobo, kept the old cpu, and replaced GPU and RAM and everything was fine on the first try, fuck buying new, saved like $700 bucks fk ye
Are there any other cases that can fit an ATX board and have the PSU mounted infront to save space, like the Lian Li PC-A05FN? [t]http://ic.tweakimg.net/ext/i/1313761522.jpeg[/t]
Does anyone know of any decent monitors that have a DisplayPort? I recently got a gtx 970, but I got the version that has 1 HDMI port, 2 DisplayPorts and 1 DVI port. However, my two monitors are ancient, and only have 1 DVI and 1 VGA port each (I had to buy a displayport to DVI converter cable. So, what with it being black friday/cyber monday and all, I figure there's got to be some deals on monitors. I'm just having trouble finding any that have a displayport and aren't $200+. And honestly, anything will be an upgrade over my 1440x900 monitor and my 1680x1050 monitor with colors that are off. I guess I'm just going for something that is actually 1080p?

That's because there's no real need for it unless the amount of data being sent is high enough to warrant it

But now that I have this one, I might as well invest in at least one really nice monitor? And the other one could have HDMI (although I'm having issues getting a TV to work with that + my two screens, but that's a whole different issue).
So CCL delivered very early, so now I've just got to figure out how to put all this shit together (once I'm done with the work week). I wish I'd planned this far ahead.
Couldn't get a R9 380 discounted, RIP. I can get a R9 380 4GB for €252 OR shell out even more money for a R9 380X for €288 Is it worth going for the 380X? Also prices here are great!!!!

Here's one that's 1080p. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-vn248qp
If I got three 2K monitors.. But only used one for gaming.. would I need to spend $9999999 on a PC that can handle 3x 2K monitors? Or it wouldn't make a difference because I'm only using one for gaming and the others just for web browsing and junk?

Could anyone point me towards a good starting build for my needs? My budget is probably about $1700 AUD and basically main goal is for playing Witcher 3 (have had it sitting in my room since release without having been able to play since old PC died :( ). From what I've seen would I be good for aiming for an i5 and a GTX 980? I have an old (relatively low-res) monitor I was planning to use in the interim until I get a newer one down the track - so I don't have a specific target resolution in mind. Sorry for being vague haven't done this kinda thing by myself before and in a long time.
So for someone who is used to using an 860M with 4GB VRAM, would buying a 750TI with 2GB VRAM be a good purchase? Or should I go for 4GB?
So for someone who is used to using an 860M with 4GB VRAM, would buying a 750TI with 2GB VRAM be a good purchase? Or should I go for 4GB?
860m is a laptop gpu. You sure this is correct? You generally cannot upgrade laptop gpu's.
860m is a laptop gpu. You sure this is correct? You generally cannot upgrade laptop gpu's.
Well it's because I've been using a laptop with that GPU for about a year now :v
Will a 650w be enough for an i7 4970k and a evga gtx970?
Yes
I wish I had a computer for gaming. I have my laptop right now and it can barely run HL1. I just want a PC that can play CSS. Not even CSGO, just something that can marginally run SOME of the games I have on steam. I bought a $6 PC at the thrift store once. Don't remember the specs, but I bought a $50 gfx card used from newegg and it could run source games at medium settings. Had to put new thermal paste on cause it was idling at like 80c. I found a motherboard in my closet from my brother's old PC. 8gb ram still in it. I was thinking about buying a cheap gpu and scrounging some old hard drives and maybe thrifting for a PSU. Problem is, I just don't play games that much anymore. I'd LOVE to play games, but if I did I'd still only play a few hours each week. So right now I don't have money, and even if I did, a new PC and PC parts would be the very LAST thing I would spend my money on.
Alright, this Crimson overheating issue is scaring me. Any suitable nVidia replacements for a 4GB R9 380 that have similar perf?
Alright, this Crimson overheating issue is scaring me. Any suitable nVidia replacements for a 4GB R9 380 that have similar perf?
Just don't update to Crimson until it's fixed? It's not like nvidia hasn't had similar system fucking driver updates.
How do mail-in rebates work? should i consider them when shopping for parts online? How about at micro center?
How do mail-in rebates work? should i consider them when shopping for parts online?
You usually just get a check back for the rebate amount, which you can cash or deposit at your bank.
Of course, you still need to spend the full amount before rebate, and it can take weeks to get the money. I personally don't like them because it takes forever to make it worth it, but I can see the appeal.
You usually just get a check back for the rebate amount, which you can cash or deposit at your bank.
Usually it's a prepaid VISA card or something of the like nowadays which is a pain in the ass. Not to mention as freeman said it can take weeks, sometimes a couple months. On top of that rebates are usually handled by third parties that tend to disappear with all the rebate money so you never get any.
So after some thinking I've come up with this for a build. Still unsure on the mobo, still have no idea what the difference is between motherboards beyond what they can/cant fit on them. Okay, so I entered my list into Micro Center's website, and it seems like everything but the processor is like ten dollars more expensive. So I'll buy the processor from Micro Center, but everything else from the list's vendors. By the way, are sites like SuperBiiz and Mac Mall reliable? I never really hear about them. update: oh geez, superbiiz had the lowest listed prices of the retailers because of a 15% off deal they're having, but the deal is applied to the whole order and maxes at $15, and it only works one time.
I don't suppose they sell carrying bags for atx cases do they. [editline]29th November 2015[/editline] I've been using the case box for awhile but it's getting a little worn. Wasn't sure if there was any alternatives

With some of the deals going on I put together a completely ground up build if you're starting from nothing. Sometimes it's hard to really look at all the little things you need.
luggage bag? should be fine for a mid-tower
I could probably try that. I'm just very nervous I'm going to break something. I'm the most nervous person ever.
