It is a number for you to put on the package before you send it back to the manufacturer so they can find what is wrong with it in their system.
Well, we discovered the problem, the CPU slot on the motherboard was broken. Luckily it was bought from Amazon so we can replace it easily.
Damn, broken? How, bent pins?
At least you found the problem finally.

This happend to me too. The cpu overheated like mad and i had to replace both cpu and motherboard
Damn, broken? How, bent pins?

Bent pins, yeah. Also the problem was found by my brother in law who build PCs, which would have been nice to know earlier but no one tells me anything. He also reccommended I get a better CPU fan than the stock one, and that my PSU would be underpowered for my build. So what's a good CPU fan? I'll leave the PSU for now.
If you're set on replacing it, may as well go for a Hyper212 EVO
What's your build again? Odds are your PSU is more than fine.

You're fine.
As long as you don't Crossfire or add like 6 drives in, you should be fine.
Yeah completely fine. If you want to pick up an aftermarket cooler just pick up a cooler master t4. Cheap, efficient, and quiet.

These are my current specs + a new graphics card, would this work or is my power supply too weak?
Need some quick advice, having generally looked else where. I'm doing a new build and currently have a GTX 760 2gb (MSI edition) in my 'old' build. I was considering 760 SLI in my new build, however there would be the issue of only having 2gb of vram which isn't very 'future proof' but would save me the expensive of getting a 970/960 (with the 960 i'd get a 4gb card ofc).
Thoughts, I'm really torn here because it feels like a waste of money getting a really expensive card.
Hi, building a PC for my parents and want to just double check that everything looks compatible and that I'm not throwing my money away on a more expensive part than needed.

I would recommend selling your GTX 760 and putting the £ towards a GTX 970/R9 390. Issues with SLI/Crossfire do exist and so it's generally advisable to go with a single GPU solution.
The level of performance the GTX 760/960 has would hardly benefit from 4GB of VRAM.

It was the cheapest sensible looking case I could find on ebuyer.

Although your PSU is fine enough it does have quality issues. You should return it if that's still possible.
If not then, when the warranty expires, you should replace it with a better quality unit.
If it fails under warranty and they send you a replacement unit, then sell it as either a refurbished or new unit (depending on what you get back) and put the cash towards a better unit.
I'd try get a 500W if I were you.
This PC would pull around 300W~, so really a suitable wattage unit would be 350-400W (there are some exceptions though since there can be high quality high wattage units that cost less than what's really needed).
So I'm wanting to upgrade my laptop's RAM, I currently have two sticks of 4GB, whereas I want to upgrade to two sticks of 8GB. What are the requirements for getting sticks, is it the RAM-timing, DDR type, or memory speed?

Find out what your laptop can support. That'll answer all your questions.

Mate in that price range you have to get a R9 380 or 380x or 390 depending on your budget.
nVidia's actual offering in that price range is not very future proof, because it has 2 - 4gb vram max.
Also you are likely going to get fucked by drivers like the Gtx 700 series owners did, having incredibly bad performance on some newer titles (Witcher 3) despite having spend 700$ on a card a year ago. (780ti)
I have a gtx670 currently and I'm for sure going to get an AMD card next. Kinda funny, when I got the 670 I came from a bad AMD experience, and now it's gonna be the opposite lol.

If he can change it now its worth it. But buying another one after the warranty has expired isn't needed. That corsair is fine.

I've had a 760 for 2 years and been nothing but impressed by it, and only once had a driver issue. Everything I've read about AMD (namely their new crimson drivers and their poor cooling) has put me off. At current I'm way more likely to get a 970.
