Wait, really? I mean, I knew mayonnaise was an instrument, but I didn't know it was a thermal paste too.
It's certainly no good for eating, I'll tell you.
I quite enjoy eating mayonnaise. Especially sriracha mayonnaise.
Toothpaste as well.
And jizz. Someone fucking tested jizz as a thermal paste and it was measurably better than having nothing at all.
do processors typically come with thermal paste?
I need to build a PC for my office to display HD video stretched across 4 1080p TVs. I'd also quite like for it to be able to play local coop games like Towerfall and such, but that's less important. I figure I should just get a Titan X but what should I do for the rest of the machine? It doesn't need to do anything else, other than not catch fire, but it will be in an office environment so possibly a bit dusty or hot. Water cooling? (I've not done that before) Halp pls. I have a copy of windows and a box full of SSDs, keyboards and mice but nothing else particularly helpful. My budget is officially "whatever" but let's call it £2k so I don't get fired.
I wanna build a new PC in an open air case. And then liquid cool it with a motorcycle radiator.

Just want to know what kind of connectors you need.
A titan x would be absurdly overkill. Do all the TV's need to have audio from the computer? Just want to know what kind of connectors you need.
Nope, we've got a dedicated sound system in the room.
-snip- They ran out of stock!
So my 380 came and the i3 is due soon, so I'd like to finish this. I need some help with a PSU and maybe some RAM. r/PCMR recommended this PSU, but is there a better one (maybe full instead of semi) for around the same quality and price? I'd also like to get everything from either MicroCenter (running a special on HDDs rn) and Newegg. Thanks. Looking for a good bang for budget build for $600 thanks. Just needs a keyboard and os
https://youtu.be/u3bMV_RZ3dE Thinking about this for my friend. Could anyone recommend any changes. [editline]11th December 2015[/editline] He was thinking pushing for a 380x over the 280
It seems like luck is on my side for once and i have the opporunity to actually get around and build up a computuer. I can see the budget being about £600 if you don't include the graphics card or maybe £800+ if i decide to upgrade everything. My computer has a perfectly usable GTX 660 which i am half tempted just to continue using on this new build. I don't think it's had the chance to be pushed properly since the processor of mine holds it back somewhat. I can also use one of the hard drives i have in this thing for the extra storage since i have two of them and this old build will proberly be given to my parents once i add a Wireless Network Card or something. Also, installing Windows 7 again, or 10 if i'm feeling frisky won't be an issue. That's the plan anyway. As for the build i'm planning... I'm going to make sure i'm doing this build right this time. I've kinda always had some sort of fuck up happen during this process. This also includes building it myself to save money. I'm still fairly thick when it comes to this field but i do have people who arent and i'll be getting advice from them as well as on here. It's mostly for gaming this build but, if i decide to tackle 3D Animation again then i have the rig to do so. This might tempt me to getting a better processor though, that i'm not so sure.
Absolutely, but I'll have it in the future, an i5 is the first upgrade and it's fine. If you've got any alternatives I'm open.
I'm running an i5, 4 hdds, and a 960 on a 500w. I do plan on SLIing the 960 in the somewhat-near future though so I might have to upgrade, but the 960 is a low power card so who knows.
Build.
-The 4690K in combination witht he Z97 board and the cooler makes for a good overclocking build. But also expensive. -Lose the Kingston SSD and get a Samsung 850 EVO or crucial MX100-200. Kingston has issues with downgrading SSD's after the reviews are in. -I would get a 250 GB ssd so you can put 1-2 games on it as well. Helps a shitload for multiplayer loading times. -Do you really need 2TB of storage? -You really need a better GPU if you want to run anything on high. The 660 is old. I reccomend the AMD 390 or the Nvidia 970. If you want to save money for a better gpu ditch the overclocking. Get an i5-4460 + cheap ass Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3 board and lose the evo 212 cooler.

Hi guys, what do you think of my first build? It's more on the cheaper side but I only have a $600~$700 budget and I think this fits it nicely. https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/by_merchant/ CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+ Motherboard Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory Storage: Silicon Power S60 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750 Ti 4GB Video Card Case: NZXT Source 530 ATX Full Tower Case Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply Does anything have any problems that I missed? I know the RAM is limited by the motherboard but only slightly. And it's cheaper. I'll be running it on windows 7, already have perpherals and disc reader
-You really need a better GPU if you want to run anything on high. The 660 is old. I reccomend the AMD 390 or the Nvidia 970.
Both the AMD 390 or the Nvidia 970 are around the same price range but the 390 has 8GB of video ram. Why should i pick that above the Nvidia 970? (Since, i've not used an AMD product yet.) Buying the 390 would mean i'd have to buy a different power supply such as the EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply since that raises up the wattage to 491W. I've changed a few things, apparently Corsair has some reliablity issues and i followed through with the storage changes. But i think the main thing is deciding on the 390 or the 970. It would future proof the system, i know that much. V2 - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/PDsmXL
Your 550 is fine for the 390
Does anyone know if AMD's new drivers make the 390 better than the 970 by a solid margin? Last I checked, they were pretty equal.
i'd like to hit up this thread with a question i want to upgrade my cpu (and by necessity, motherboard) but its a p big thing so i figured i'd ask thread [t]http://i.imgur.com/bGepefU.png[/t] this is my current build i'd like to go for an intel cpu and motherboard preferably around $400 some things im worried about are my OS (i heard i'd have to replace OS and programs), temps (i guess an aftermarket cooler would be necessary idk), bottlenecks (by either new or old parts), and compatibility with the rest of my stuff if someone has a neat suggestion on how to reinstall my programs and settings (or save them) conveniently, that would be great and trying out win 10 would be neat but idk how that would work idk if im posting this right either, so if im making a fool out of myself, please tell me and ill try to fix it thanks for the help also, just incase, the reason im upgrading is because of frequent fps drops in a lot of games and not being able to go higher than the lowest settings (gta v, csgo, revengeance) i dont really know if its cpu or graphics card but my gut tells me its the cheap amd cpu it would be really great to play at 60 fps consistently, so if its not a cpu i need, telling me that would help too
if that fx6300 IS REALLY running at 60C at idle i don't wanna know the load temps that fucker could be throttling down and for $400 you ain't going to get much, just a mobo, cpu and an extra stick of ram, you're gonna have to stick with that GTX 750, squeeze in an extra $200 and you can upgrade from that GTX 750 to a r9 380 or GTX 960
i was just looking for a cpu and mobo (unless bottlenecks or necessity or [insert good reason]) also, i think its due to me recently unparking the cores lol if i parked them again itll usually idle at like 50
