Anyone know if Killer Network bullshit is worth it? I'm trying to figure out how to disable it without disabling the NIC.
Just install the normal atheros driver.
Final Update: So after going to the nearest Microcenter and picking up that PSU, connected everything and did some cable management, the system is brought to life. CPU temps sitting at around 33-40c (might need to reapply thermal paste), and GPU temps sitting at around 42-45c. I know idle temps don't matter too much compared to full load temps. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/RJbAfg8.jpg[/thumb] Taken with a shitty HTC One M8 but I don't care anymore, this headache is finally gone.
If that fan on the left side of the case is blowing air out of the case, I would recommend taking the fan on the heatsink and placing it on the other side of the heatsink. The way it's facing now it's just blowing the hot air from the heatsink into the case, which is probably contributing to the extra heat. My dad is using the same cooler for his build and his processor idles at around ~28 C.
Anyone know if Killer Network bullshit is worth it? I'm trying to figure out how to disable it without disabling the NIC.
No, its highly annoying. It has a shitload of issue's with internet not working, randomly shutting down, packet loss etc etc. So 1 year ago after weeks of fidling with that shit. I downgraded it by manually installing the Qualcomm Atheros instead of the Killer 2200 drivers. Reviews also show that it does absolutely nothing for your "Gaming internet traffic" if it does happen to work properly. A month back I did a complete reinstal of my system and tried the Killer drivers again. Everything broke instantly. Back on Qualcomm Atheros now.
Im not sure if this is best suited to here or the quick questions thread but I'm super in need of advice cause im tearing my hair out. So im looking at doing a new build, specifically one that'll run most things at 1440p with two 980tis but i cant seem to nail down on which processor might be best. On the one side there is the 5930k and on the other the 6700k, majority of use will be gaming but a small consideration to things like video rendering. I'm not hugely worried about saving money, just that however much i spend is a good investment. So any advice is super appreciated

In Q2 next year we are expecting to see a massive leap in GPU technology (14nm finfet, HBM ram and DX12) So your dual 980TI setup might be beaten by a single card half the price for all we know. Also a single 980 TI can run everything there is at max at 1440P already, so why would you need 2? Like always, the only way to futureproof a gaming rig is money in the bank. You are going to end up with better performance, if you spend 1500$ now and 750$ in 3 years. Than to just spend 4000$ now.
If you want both 980 Tis to run at full speed(PCI-E 3.0 16 X2) the 5930K X99 is the best choice. Otherwise they'll be at 8 by 8 in a 6700K Z170 I would go 5930K if you're also gonna have other PCI-E cards in there(NVMe storage, dedicated sound card, WiFi adapter) but with out what seeing what you're planning to build, kinda hard to really say.
Yeah i was planning on getting one of those Samsung(?) NVMe 256gigs, i dont have the details on hand on account of being on my phone. The reason for the extravagance is the desire to play some decently pretty games with the rift that might not otherwise happen with a single card, but if its worth waiting then go with the 5930k, single 980ti and just wait and see?

AMD already announced Latency reducing hardware features in their Q2 Lineup. [editline]12th January 2016[/editline] And if you do need another 980Ti when VR is out, its probably going to be a lot cheaper then as well.

So with the new year I figured it was time to upgrade from my 4 year old build which had my C2Q9300 cpu from my even older pre-built from 2009. Here's what I got: It's my first ever full self-built, tried my best at cable management: Was a fun ride building it.

was thinking of upgrading my rig since I saw a great deal for two 780ti's to go along with my single 780ti, but the mobo I have isn't capable of three-way SLI so now I'm upgrading. was thinking of switching out the CPU, mobo and RAM. so far I was thinking a i5 6600K and some HyperX Fury DDR4 memory (16GB) but no idea what mobo to pick. I don't want to spend too much on a mobo since it doesn't really do much in terms of performance and I don't really do OC'ing either, I just need one that supports the socket I need, DDR4 and has 3 PCIe 16x slots. always important with lots of USB ports too [editline]13th January 2016[/editline] ATX form too, important

Works fairly shit too because it requires hacky methods since there aren't enough PCIe lanes.

I have done zero research on triple SLI, wouldn't it work similarly to dual SLI just that you need that extra fullspeed PCIe lane?

Using up to 16 lanes per slot. But these can also use PCIe 2.0 for shit like sound cards and network cards.

after having looked on newegg for a little bit I found that really the only thing that can do multiple pci-e at x16 speeds are the really high end chipsets like x99 (the top end being x16/x16/x8 but only with the most expensive processors that have 40 lanes). maybe I'm wrong and I just couldn't find it but pretty much everything else below that in price is x8/x8 or x8/x8/x4 or some such. Whether this means anything to real world performance is also something I don't know. I've only ever used one video card at a time.
I had to put my sound card into a 16x slot apparently my 970 takes uses all the lanes from the 1x slots or maybe it's the processor having fewer lanes. I don't really know least it works.
Been wanting a mITX build for some time now. Got a cheap Node 304. Need new mobo. Recommened mITX for 1150? WiFi is gimmick to be (As in not necessary, but could be nice I guess). Properly going to overclock so it needs to be Z97 Need at least 4 SATA M.2 would be really nice, but not neccessary. My budget is around the $150
might as well post this here too I guess
Hi hello, I just recently got the last of the hardware in for my new rig and everything seems to be working fine, but I'm not getting any VGA output to my monitor (which is still kind of an old POS that I'm re-using for budget reasons) I have a GTX 750 TI btw halp?
[editline]asdf[/editline] Nevermind, switching to a DVI cable fixed it.
Today I finished buying all the parts online for my computer! Now to play the waiting game...
Can someone recommend me a case with non restriced air vents on the front for a H100I GTX?
Can someone recommend me a case with non restriced air vents on the front for a H100I GTX?
Corsair 450D?
Corsair 450D?
Actually quite interested in the Corsair Air 540
Actually quite interested in the Corsair Air 540
A lot of people like the Air 540. You'll want to check the max cooler heights, but it's a solid case. I'm buying the 240 soon, for my portable gaming build. I'll let you know how it goes if you want.
Actually quite interested in the Corsair Air 540
I have a Air540 with the h100iGTX, even slapped on 4 120mm fans on it front and back, I think you did that and mount it on the front, it would still barely clear the 980ti, I just went for 3 120mm fans on front and slapped the 4 120mm on the radiatior and mounted under the top instead.
Am I a bad person if I drop 100 euro on the Corsair C70 case? I love the look of it but I know I could get a more economical and better performing case for around the same price. Anybody else have this case?
Augh I need to not go online and look at PC stuff. Now I'm second-guessing my purchases: I bought the GTX 960 on Amazon but now I found out that the R9 380 is like $20 cheaper and might be better?? Plus I have a three-month trial of Newegg Premier so I kind of want to just snatch up the 380 and mail the 960 right back when it arrives.
looking to do a mini ITX build to have more space. I've been looking at cases and these two caught my eye. I prefer the look of the Corsair case but it's a bit bigger and pricy compared to the Cooler Master case. (24 cm x 37.75 cm x 20.5 cm vs 27.7 cm x 35.1 cm x 29 cm) Any thoughts/Suggestions for other mini ITX cases? I would like one with room for a CD drive but it's not required.

(make sure you get the 4gb one)
