What I'm thinking of getting: CPU: Intel Core i5-6600 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor ($335.00) Motherboard: Asus H170I-PLUS D3 Mini ITX LGA1151 Motherboard ($209.00) Cooler:ID-COOLING Iceland Series IS-50 Low Profile CPU Cooler ($39.00) Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($79.00) SSD: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($139.00) Case: Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini ITX Tower Case ($59.00) Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower 550W 80PLUS Silver Power Supply ($94.00) Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($21.00) Already have (from current PC): HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5- 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: XFX Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card All up (+ a mousepad): $982.00) This isn't a final list, I'm still checking for different prices at local stores (this is in dollarydoos). I'm looking to get the parts some time next week. Is the PSU too much? PCpartpicker says it's only using 'bout 334 watts.

Its a non overclocking one. -Your RAM seems overly expensive, but that might just be the dollarydoos -PSU is a bit too much, you can go to 430 Watt if you want.
Any thoughts on this build? I'm trying to keep the X99 board for two PCIe x16 (Pascal cards are ~future~), as well as so I can use the processor listed (~$40 more than the 4970k). Is that a good move? (Open to changes on either) I'm trying to stay within the $1400 range, the 960 card is just to hold me over until the Pascals get released later this year.
I have a Air540 with the h100iGTX, even slapped on 4 120mm fans on it front and back, I think you did that and mount it on the front, it would still barely clear the 980ti, I just went for 3 120mm fans on front and slapped the 4 120mm on the radiatior and mounted under the top instead.
I'm only planning on having the fans on one side on the front like stock so it should fit right?
It's time for a new PC, I've got +/- €1000 to spend on a new PC. It will the first one I put together myself and would like some help. I plan on playing games, and mild / light video editing once a while. I don't really have a clue what and how to do it so some help would be appreciated .
I'm only planning on having the fans on one side on the front like stock so it should fit right?
Yea it should fit and have enough clearance for any graphic card that is long as the 980ti
Budget - £800~ Just finalising this for the last time before i get the wheels in motion for this, since i've just been paid. Do i go for the ASUS® Z170-E with the SSD or buy the more expensive MAXIMUS VIII RANGER? So I installed two new fans on the top of my PC, and opted not to use the speed controller it came with.
What'd you get, Deltas?
might want to rethink those controllers LOL

i need a pc for mostly gaming purposes, and hopefully a pc that can play games on highest graphics for as long as possible without costing me too much (no overclocking in mind whatsoever) heres what i thought of getting CPU: intel core i5-4460 3.2 ghz CPU cooler: cooler master hyper tx3 Mobo: Asrock h97 anniversary ATX Memory: G.skill ripjaws series 8Gb (2x4gb) ddr3-1600 Storage: seagate barracuda 1tb SSD: Samsung 850 evo 250 gb video card: asus geforce gtx 970 case: corsair spec-03 atx-mid tower PSU: xfx 550w 80+ bronze certified OS: windows 10 64-bit Monitor: asus VS247hr 24'' FHD led Hows about it? still a bit iffy about the motherboard, is it any good? also a bit irrelevant, but is avast free antivirus still a good choice for pc-security(if youre a cheap cunt like me and dont wanna pay for a ''proper'' anti-virus program lol)

You don't even need proactive anti-virus software in this day and age. A combination of Windows Defender + common sense + Malwarebytes works just fine
Just finished my new pc build -sweet damn-
Fucking lovely, I'm currently waiting for that case to arrive along with a RM750i, 3 140mm white led fans, white cablemod cables and an NZXT white led kit. Will post pics when I'm done transplanting. What did you use for that lighting? It looks great and covers the whole interior.
I, too, am interested in that light kit. The case I'm buying has a giant window, may as well use it.
Thanks for the kind words :) I used these (40 cm version gave nice coverage). I put one strip along the bottom window and one inside the right angled bar of the HDD rack :)> A note for the H440, cable management is a bit of a bitch(I'll post pics of mine) so I'd recommend doing everything at once and testing as you go so you don't have to re-do it!

About the lighting, how many leds does each strip have? The NZXT kit has 24 spread along 2 meters and I don't know if they will provide as much light as yours. I guess white leds provide better lighting but the distance between each led might be a problem.

I know corsair sells led kits now which you can control from software, they are pretty pricy though.
Whats a good cpu motherboard upgrade from a q8400? I have an extra 8gb of ram. Id like to get as much preformace out of 200$ as possible Ddr3 by the way.
According to this, Bitdefender is ace. https://np.reddit.com/r/YouShouldKnow/comments/40zh69/ysk_that_microsoft_security_essentialswindows/
Bitdefender gets high scores by catching a bunch of false positives without any way to mark them as not actually a trojan (copying itself to %appdata% is 100% trojan apparently?). I had a screenshot uploader that I was using for 3 fucking years and it just got rid of it and didn't tell me until I pressed the hotkey and noticed the executable was fucking gone. Then I went to a backup to get it back and it tells me it deleted that one. Thank fuck the NAS wasn't mounted at the time or it would have deleted that copy of it too. It lasted a grand total of 2 hours before I uninstalled the piece of shit. MSE has a terrible options menu but it doesn't pretend it's smart enough to not need a fucking whitelist. Trying Panda because it actually has a fucking menu. The main things that piss me the fuck off is things that should work that do not, and things that do not let me control my computer.
I've personally had pretty awful experiences with bit defender. I generally just run ClamAV on my router that scans for signatures of any traffic. Aside from that I've only got 1 windows machine nowadays and I'm always messing around what I've got running on there. I don't think I'm actually running anything right now (oops) but literally the only things I do with it is game and teamspeak. I've only opened a web browser once since I got it back up and running and that was just to upload a speccy screenshot.
