Should I get the build as it is with the 980 Ti or get a cheaper card and upgrade when Pascal comes around? My current build is about 5 years old and still somewhat able to hold its own with a Radeon 6970 and Phenom X6 1100T, and I'd like to hand it down to my siblings so we can actually play together.
Wait for Pascal to come around, if it's good you can see if there's a Pascal card that you'll prefer over a 980TI, or if you don't end up getting a Pascal card then the 980TI will surely go down in price.
Did anyone ever use these? I'm wondering if they would help a little bit with things like the Unreal Engine 4, Visual Studio, Photoshop and stuff like that.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0079NRZHC
I'm wondering if I could actually install them, my current motherboard doesn't seem to be able to support them, I've read somewhere that I could underclock them but is that worth it? They are most likely incompatible though so I'm not sure if I'll bother.
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5QC/
Honestly, you won't see too much of an improvement by upgrading the RAM in Visual Studio or Photoshop (not sure about Unreal Engine, although more or better RAM should help). I personally saw huge performance gains in VS and PS by replacing my 5400 RPM HDD with a Samsung 950 Evo SSD. Photoshop CC 2015 both opens and saves 4096x4096 textures within 5 seconds, while VS opens within 10 seconds and takes roughly 5 seconds to build just about any program I make. RAM certainly helps, but your hard drive is what'll actually give you results.
But in response to your RAM-Mobo compatibility, if the Mobo supports a lower frequency than the RAM has, then the RAM will go as high as the Mobo is able to (in your case your RAM would automatically run at 1333Mhz).

At this point I'd probably need an entirely new build, I'll just have to be patient for a while longer I suppose :v:

I presumed it would do that but I wasn't sure, thanks.
What use 1600 RAM? The general consensus is that the speed of your RAM means nothing for game performance, and only a little in the performance of VS and Photoshop etc. If the rest of your parts are top notch.
Seeing that you are on an old LGA775 motherboard, you will notice no difference at all in anything.
Faster RAM helps in minimum frames and when a CPU is the bottleneck. It might help, but not by much.

Ive heard that before, but benchmarks that test RAM with a CPU bottleneck are rare.
The ones that just bench RAM show almost no difference between speeds:

Eurogamer claims it does. But this seems to be more of a freak accident then the norm.

On that second link min fps goes up with every game pretty much. The first link doesn't seem to show minimum rates. You'd be surprised how much more noticeable a few frame in minimum is vs a few frames on the high end. You notice 35 to 40 a lot more than a 55 to 60 bump.
MSI and EVGA all seem to deliver here in Romania, the prices are also about the same, I'm not sure what to pick though.
I found these so far, but there's so many EVGA ones to pick from and I have no idea, they all look the same to me. Apparently they can go up to 350W though, I only have a 650W PSU on my main computer right now, so no overclocked stuff.

This looks like the better one, I may have missed a bunch other cards though, I'll look again. MSI all ship here so that's cool.

I'd love to get this one but it looks like it might be a bit too long, which sucks.
Edit: Oh, nevermind, MSI only ships in Romania.
Well, after a bit more research, I'm really scared about my motherboard not even being able to support this card. Right now it'll most likely end up covering some SATA cables, so I'll have to get a shorter card and also, I'm afraid about the GTX 950 not working at all, I really have to be sure about this, I know that it should work seeing as I have a PCIe slot but I'm still afraid to be honest :v:
I do have two free slots but, I have no idea if all the slots are the same, and I'm afraid that even if I move those two cables down, the card might still go over them.

There's also this but idk if it's on the way.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/95xmxZi.png[/t]
Its supposed to go in the top blue slot.
Card and Motherboard dimensions are pretty standardized. It should work.

It'll definitely clear the red long one no problem and it shouldn't block the SATA ports. If it does it will only be the top two, so as long as you don't have more than 4 drives it'll be fine.
Heres the new computer!
[t]http://i.imgur.com/bvJFyAq.jpg[/t]
I decided to go for 16 GB of RAM since it wasn't that more expensive. It also serves as a great pencil holder holder.
For what uses?
It would be for the build I posted earlier, quoted below. But the main goal for the whole thing is SLI Pascal cards when they are released, as well as support for Optane (3D XPoint). Kaby Lake is the only family that Intel has mentioned support for, but XPoint runs in DDR4 DIMMs, so I'm not sure if there's any earlier compatibility.
Not to mention, the 5820k is a 6-core, and the 6700k is a 4-core. Word on the street is that DX12 is going to use the CPU a lot more, and make better use of threads compared to the way games currently utilize it. So I'm not sure if that's worth the drop in base clock speed. Overclocking is always an option.
Any thoughts on this build? I'm trying to keep the X99 board for two PCIe x16 (Pascal cards are ~future~), as well as so I can use the processor listed (~$40 more than the 4970k). Is that a good move? (Open to changes on either)
I'm trying to stay within the $1400 range, the 960 card is just to hold me over until the Pascals get released later this year.

did i do good on cable management
Its supposed to go in the top blue slot.
Yes I know that, but right now even my GTX 650 Ti is already over one slot very slightly.
The cable in one of the slots is slightly bent so that the card could fit in there (the orange one). I didn't originally place the cables like that though, I only saw this today.

I might have to skip on the GTX 950 for now, I should probably go for a GTX 750 Ti as a replacement instead, I'd get another GTX 650 Ti but I can't really find one, I'd feel safer if I just got a new motherboard though, so I think I'll have to stick with that broken Radeon HD 4850 for a while longer on this other computer. I'm not really sure yet, I'll try to take some other measures again too :v:
Pretty well, yea.
Yo, TigerDirect is clearing out their inventory on eBay and there's some decent deals there. Not really PC parts for stuff like HDD enclosures and ethernet cables.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=&_ssn=tigerdirect&_sop=10
Its all going quick. Someone bought a Fury X for $300. I bought a 2.5" USB 3.0 HDD enclosure and 50ft of Cat5e for $6. Worth checking out if you want some random electronics.
Probably a US only thing :/
Does anyone know if I can enable UEFI on my P5QC motherboard? Or do I need to change the motherboard itself at this point?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/iCaKd3P.png[/t]
Is there an easy way of checking if this is compatible with my current mobo? Right now it's the only thing which is stopping me from getting it, otherwise I'd get a new mobo if I could.

Oh well I've decided not to get this, I don't have enough infos, and it's a very risky purchase for me right now, thanks for the help anyway.

Any good tips for inexpensive mouse/keyboard/speakers? I'm probably just going to go to Staples or something and pick up a few USB ones but if y'all have any other suggestions I'd like to hear them.

I really don't know what a budget for keyboard & mouse is - something around $15-30 dollars I'd guess. I use it for gaming but also general media editing/web browsing stuff; I don't need something crazy, just a good-sized mouse with the two side buttons is all I really need.
All right. I got my disbursement, so I'm going to start buying parts this week. I've decided to reuse the graphics card and PSU from my old PC, at least until the Pascal launch, so I'm able to cut my prices by $360 right now. Still trying to shave off pennies, though, so if you've got any suggestions, let me know.
As always, the i7 is non-negotiable. So is the SSD and 16GB of RAM. And the case (unless you can recommend a case that's similar in size, but a whole lot slicker, at the same price point). So... If you can recommend a better motherboard, cooler, or hard drive for cheaper, I'm all ears.
