Good budget CPU cooler, but it's a real pain in the ass to install, good God...
Fucking tell me about it. I fought with it for about 20-25 minutes the first time I installed it, and then discovered a few of the fins stuck a bit out and got in the fan blades at about 1550RPMs, so I had to flip the cooler (it was also somewhat bothering me that I had installed it with the logo upside down but I was going to just live with it because it was such a bastard). Took me about ten minutes to reinstall it, but that's still longer than a cpu cooler should take to install. Also, it has the unfortunate side effect of leaving tiny scratches on the acrylic window of my case, because the copper nubs are just touching the window when I slide it on and off. But the size is worth it, since it's cooling a 220W cpu fairly well at about $20 or so.
Eww. I mean, to each their own, but I much prefer understated cases.
I've created a monster I know, I would have preferred a Corsair C70 in green but they didn't have it. It's obnoxiously green which I kinda like.
Do any of you know if they sell internal optical drives that work like the ones on old MacBooks? Like the kind that's just a slot you push the disc into?

I will be honest, I went with this case... Because it looks like a space heater. It's not exactly understated (which is a bit of an understatement), but it's not really the ricey "pro-gamer 1337 pwnzors" garbage either. It's just interesting enough, I think.
Yeah, not bad. I like my minifridge more but it's big. [t]http://i.imgur.com/JaKelHp.jpg[/t]

I assume they did other similar changes but I do like the design they went with in that whole line of cases, I love my Air540.
Yeah, not bad. I like my minifridge more but it's big. [t]http://i.imgur.com/JaKelHp.jpg[/t]
That's a Caselabs, too. I bet that costs more than double what mine did. That's what you're seeing here. The Corsair logo can be popped out and rotated. The best part about that is that, once you rotate them, you can put up to six fans along the top row. It's one of the most versatile air-cooled mATX cases I found.

Basically I have it in the "standing" setup 3 120mm on front a 140mm in the back and h100i gtx slapped with 4 120mm mounted under the top. But the main appeal was having unrestricted airflow so my 3 120mm in front, really brings a lot to the case as I can see by my temps more or less in the low 20s Celsius idling.

Computer's up and running! Probably going to tweak (and document) things a little more tomorrow, but for now I'm just going to install programs and play Metal Gear.
Out of curiosity, what's the most overkill PC I could afford for AUD $1500-2000? I'd really like to eventually have three monitors too (not included in the budget). I would only game on one monitor though.

However when I nitpick: -You have a non overclocking CPU on an overclocking motherboard. You can save 80-30$ by dropping down to a H110 or B150 chipset mobo. Or just a cheaper Z170. Or you can upgrade your CPU to the overclocking i5-6600K+A CPU cooler, so you can overclock. -Your can save some money by going with slightly slower RAM with almost no performance loss. -I would get the 8gb AMD-r9-390 instead of the 970. (And this is coming from a 970 owner). Games are already over the 4(3.5) GB Vram on the 970 and its only going to get worse. Also the 390 is faster than the 970 now due to AMD driver improvements. -Dont get an SSDH, they suck. Get a 120-250GB Samsung evo 850 or Crucial BX100/MX200 SSD and a separate 1TB diskdrive. -That PSU is not very good, (Its actually a Channel Well Technology with a Corsair case) I recommend the Seasonic: m12/S12/S12G/S12-II, XFX: TS/XTR/PRO series, Superflower:Any Also: -If you want a case thats less "ricer", you might want to look at the NZXT-s340 instead.
Looks like I'll have myself a new PC by next Monday. I'm excited. It is kind of irritating that parts are showing up piecemeal this week, though. I wish there were some way Amazon could coordinate deliveries to all show up on the same day. Right now I've got a case, a hard drive, an SSD, and a CPU cooler. Speaking of, I popped open the case box, and I love it. It's a great compact size, it looks really good (and I say that as a professional design writer), and it's fairly solid and hefty. I'm considering frosting the acrylic window to diffuse some LEDs, like an integrated Phillips Hue. Worst case, if I don't like it down the road, I can always buy a new side panel for like $15.

It doesn't cost more, it just may or may not take longer to bundle them together through Amazon.
I'm curious, should I have gotten a wi-fi card, or should I just keep using my Airport Express as a wireless adapter? What's a good wireless card to buy these days, anyway?

I use that processor, it's great, honestly it's more than what you need. Try your best to get 16gb of ram though. 8 is just enough and I see myself upgrading soon. I think whether that gpu is a problem depends on your resolution. If you're at 1080p and you want to be comfortable for a few years, you will want something with 4gb vram. If you're running somehting smaller than that you might can get away with less.
as far as cases go I love my enthoo pro. I didn't even look it up beforehand but it keeps winning awards. It's a full tower so watch out.
So I have a bit of confusion on slots... From what I can tell, m.2 slots connect to the PCIE bus as 2x, correct? And since they connect as 2x, the maximum current they can provide is 25w, which is quite a bit smaller than what the GTX 750 ti needs. So essentially, I would need to solder on a 6 pin power connector to the graphics card in order to power it. Is that incorrect? Are there any other issues with connecting the graphics card to an m.2 slot?

Bought a 970 Turbo for my Corsair Air 240. Despite the site telling me I'd have 8 cms of space to put my PCI powercable in, it doesn't fit. Are there some kind of 90 degree PCI powercable adapter thingies?
They make them. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/261567563062?lpid=82 http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/261450244013?lpid=82
Holy nutballs that shipping is 200% the price of the damn thing
That's international shipping for ya. Dunno if there's anywhere in Norway you can get them. [editline]26th January 2016[/editline] It'd cost me like $17 to send a padded envelope to Kiwi.
