Well what do you suggest then? I'm not too savvy in the hardware sector yet. What I have now was based off of what I was suggested in this thread about a year and a half ago.
I'm utilizing a pre-built computer tower and plan on ripping everything out. I'm using two memory drives to compensate for memory and plan on integrating cooler fans from my old computer into it. If there's any problems, feel free to respond because I don't know shit about computers.

I've got a GTX 560 Ti 2 GB in my new rig.
Are there any cost effective cards that I should upgrade to, or should I wait longer for this thing to show its age more? I don't wanna shell out $200 or $300 if the advantages are like a 10% performance upgrade.
My current rig is pretty okay but I skimped out on a couple things to try to save money.
Well now I have the funds to unfuck what I fucked, so I need help.
I need a new CPU cooler because I'm still using the stock one that came with my i5 4690 like an idiot.
Everything's stuffed into a Rosewill Blackbone ATX-Mid case with a 600w PSU, and current specs if it really matters.
Price range: Below $60 US, would prefer to purchase from Newegg or Amazon. No water coolers please.
Extra question: Can thermal paste expire? I've had the same tube of arctic silver I've only ever opened and used once and closed right back up for a couple years, is it still safe to use the same tube?
TIA
The stock cooler is fine. You dont really need a better one since your cpu cant overclock.

No... A 960 would be about a 50% performance upgrade. That said, I'm in the same boat. Wait for Pascal.
You know what I like about winter? My CPU is sitting at 26C with the fan only pulling 750rpm. That 212 Evo is great and quiet. The stock cooler would still be loud as shit, and probably no lower than 33C
Hey guys any components I should upgrade
to make my PC run a little bitter?
Not looking to play games maxed out but its
starting to show its age and I would like it to run nice and smooth :(

GPU is a HD 6950 btw and I'd like to spend under £300 preferably.
Also have the Corsair CX 600W Fully Wired 80+ Bronze Power Supply PSU.
Was thinking new motherboard and an intel CPU, and maybe possibly a new GPU?
If you don't care to max things or spend too much, you can get a beefier video card for well under $200. I had that same motherboard, but upgraded to one that supports the FX series chips. If biggest bang for the buck without being super top of the line, AMD is the way to go. I would upgrade your video card over the CPU, really. Unless you play games like Planetside 2 or Arma more than any other
You can get a cheap ATX Mobo that supports FX series CPUs, and for about $220ish or so total get a new Motherboard and FX8350 (Which for the price is not a bad processor despite what people will tell you, especially for $170). You can go for the cheaper 8320 if you'd like. Then you can go over to GPUShack and buy a refurbished card, or buy an R9 380 for less than $200 new on Newegg and there you go, for $400 (£275) you've got a new Motherboard, an 8Core 4ghz processor and a very decent video card.
Not the best hardware, but it'll run anything out today on fairly high settings if not the highest. Your PSU should be enough for these, as well, though it's close
I recommend this because if you went with Intel I don't think you'd have as much cash to throw around for a video card, or vice versa with the CPU if you went for a really nice card. I also have an 8350 and an R9 380 and they run fairly well, considering the prices, which is why I named those specifically, I know how they run first hand
Then when you can, buy yourself 16GB of RAM for $70 or $80 when it's on sale. And that should last you a few years, really. And then when you buy a brand new rig, go Intel, unless these new AM4 AMD CPU's turn out to be amazing

Which motherboard would you recommend?
Basically I have £260-270 pounds for a decent CPU, GPU and motherboard if that is even possible, if the motherboard is good enough I dont mind just replacing the CPU and the GPU.
Also my case is ZALMAN Z11 Plus Midi Tower Computer Case
I'm not too knowledgeable on Motherboards. I have an M5A78L-M LX PLUS. I wanted cheap and what would work. It was cheap as shit, had good reviews, and it works perfectly fine, I haven't had a single issue out of it. It is an ASUS, and ASUS is pretty good with their stuff
It is a bit lacking, though. But for $55 what can ya expect. No USB3.0, the Bios is a bit lacking in voltage options, but other than that it's fine. It will need to be updated (Should come with the updated BIOS now and you won't need to worry about it) to support FX series processors. If for some reason it doesn't, you can use your current processor temporarily to update it, then swap. It's small, though. Everything on it is going to be close together. If you end up getting an aftermarket cooler (Which I recommend just for noise sake), and want to exhaust upwards through the top of your case, you probably won't be able to because the video card will be blocking the fan's air. Like almost completely. If you exhaust out the back, it should be alright, but the fan might hang over the RAM
I wouldn't recommend it for a new build or anything, it's not new and there's so much better, but for a cheapo board to support your upgrades, it's fine
I'm sure someone else can recommend newer and better, though, and for not much more money
Alright guys what do you think about this motherboard?

With this CPU :

And this GPU ?

would it all work with each other because I dont wanna buy these components then for them not to be workin with each other.
I also have Cooler Master Evo 212 Hyper as a cooler but my pc case is quite big.
Hey guys, Just build a pc for my couson.
You guys think I did pretty good job?

On side note non relevant first picture, I think this mobo looks absolutly awesome its a X99 sabertooth from my computer. Not to brag and all but to me this is nicest mobo ive owned.
The stock cooler is fine. You dont really need a better one since your cpu cant overclock.
It's really not. I can't play GTA V hardly without pushing the temps far too high for my liking. I don't think it's healthy for any CPU to be running at 80-85C for extended periods of time.
For other games it's okay, but I'm not going to have a 65 GB game on my hard drive I'm not even playing because I'm paranoid about the wellbeing of my hardware. Needs fixed, and a better cooler is less expensive than potentially buying a new CPU in the future. v:v:v
Considering upgrading to skylake, if i do i'd get a non-K 6700, and overclock it using the sky oc or otherwise function, because apparently some people get a crazy amount of performance out of them.
Okay, so I'm thinking of getting an Intel Core i5-4590 and my question is this: Should I have to change my Corsair H55 Liquid CPU cooler if I change to this CPU?
Is this a decent 1440p gaming rig?
Any better options for around $2k
Also I would want to get an SSD, too.

That build is good for 4k gaming let alone 1440p. If you want to save a few hundred bucks you could easily go with a gtx 970/r9 390 (or 390x) if you only plan on 1440.
[editline]5th February 2016[/editline]
That way you can get a nice SSD and even double your ram to 16gb.
A 970 really isn't going to be maxing out games at 1440p though. The 970 is definitely a 1080p card.
It won't be perfect but it will definitely perform though. Get a 390x if you want excellent 1440p gaming.
For my next upgrade i was thinking of a skylake 6600k or 6700k (decided i would prefer multiplier ocing) a corsair 400c or 600c, probably an asus mobo and 3000 ddr4. Im not sure though on the cpu case, and i want to upgrade my psu and cpu cooler, to a evga 850 and corsair 110i gtx.
Any other suggestions? Itll be built in a few weeks after i get my next check. On the other hand, i was thinking up upgradig to a pascal titan when it releases or even a ti pascal.
[editline]6th February 2016[/editline]
Oh and the secondary reason to upgrade is the simple fact my gf is on a q9500 and her games are really choppy. Currently have a 3570k
I don't think there's enough of a difference between an OC'd 3570K and a 6600K to justify buying another CPU.
man I'm sort of jealous of my room mate, but I hate seeing good potential go to waste.
He's the type of person who has to have the "latest and greatest" and "most expensive" and really doesn't know what's actually good for what he needs.
He has a beautiful 980ti and a new CPU (not sure which one though) and he's wasting it on fucking cs:go and league. :speechless:
only a 1080 monitor too
I don't think there's enough of a difference between an OC'd 3570K and a 6600K to justify buying another CPU.
It wouldn't just be the speed though, i wanted to get an m.2 drive and usb c soon too. Im just not all impressed with skylake. I do need a better case though, that's for certain
[editline]6th February 2016[/editline]
To clarify i could probably wait till kaby or cannon.
Okay, so I'm thinking of getting an Intel Core i5-4590 and my question is this: Should I have to change my Corsair H55 Liquid CPU cooler if I change to this CPU?
You should be fine with the H55. I've got an H60 that's keeping my i7 under 40C no matter what I throw at it.
H55 is completely over kill honestly but go for it dude if you already have one.
Otherwise spring for an air cooler. TX3 or 212 Evo.
You could stay stock but the stock coolers are a bit shite.
Eh, no real reason to change it if he's already got it. Although, if he's watercooling an i3 (he did mention this was an upgrade), I think he may have bigger problems.
It won't be perfect but it will definitely perform though. Get a 390x if you want excellent 1440p gaming.
I'm running 1440p on a GTX 980 and I can't see myself trying to run this res on high graphics in games on a 970. It's definetely not a card recommended for resolutions over 1080p.
Hey, I'm running this at the moment:
[t]http://richardbamford.io/dmp/Speccy64_2016-02-06_19-52-48.png[/t]
I'm looking to upgrade my CPU, add a fan or two and put my old HDD back in along side my SSD.
Two questions, is there any need for me to upgrade my CPU? and when I try to plug in my old HDD it always tries to boot from it or doesn't see anything at all, any tips?
I'm running 1440p on a GTX 980 and I can't see myself trying to run this res on high graphics in games on a 970. It's definetely not a card recommended for resolutions over 1080p.
Hell my 290x runs at the same performance level as a 980 ACX/TF and I still could definitely benefit from more for 1440p. A single 980ti is definitely perfect for maxing out 1440p.
