The seasonic G is a bit better of a platform, but you really can't go wrong with either, no sense in spending $30 more.
What's a good SSD to buy? I'm only using it for my OS and maybe a couple of games so ~120GB is perfectly fine. I'd give a price range but I have no clue on how much SSDs cost for quality.
If the question is SSD, the answer is always Samsung.
If the question is SSD, the answer is always Samsung.
Unless it's an 840 EVO. [editline]11th May 2015[/editline] Or PCIe
I'll be honest after getting used to my SSD I don't think I could ever go back to HDD. [editline]11th May 2015[/editline] Like game loading time is almost instant. I can boot and start using any application in a matter of seconds. File transfer is a breeze, installing software takes seconds. It's just, wow. I can't wait for HDD to phase out and everything becomes SSD.
I took a chance and bought what I thought was an off-brand SSD, a 256GB transcend, and it's been absolutely amazing, I love it. Everything is instant, it's awesome. 120gb is okay but I really feel like I made the right move getting the bigger one because with the games I have on it now I only have 75 of 237gb free, meaning a couple of my games wouldn't have fit on the 120. Honestly next time I wanna just go all in and get a 1tb ssd but that'll have to wait till the cost comes down.
Does anyone know why a wireless network card would prevent windows from booting? Using ethernet at the moment and it's fine... I am intrigued.

Is a 970 worth buying? Been looking to get a new GPU next month for Arkham Knight.
Is a 970 worth buying? Been looking to get a new GPU next month for Arkham Knight.
not to mention you get arkham knight with it
Is a 970 worth buying? Been looking to get a new GPU next month for Arkham Knight.
Buy it this month and you get Arkham Knight with it.
Sadly I'm gonna have to get it next month. Is the 3.5 VRAM issue still present and does it still run rather poorly?

Reposting this in the appropriate thread: I'm wondering which motherboard to get for the following parts: 4x2gb RAM, MSI GTX 970 twin frozr and i5-4590 A tech guy recommended me this. It's an mATX board, with a good sound chip and my case can support ATX boards, so that's the reason I haven't bought it yet. It only has two PCI-E 16x slots (apparently supports crossfire) and no M.2. I'm not buying an SSD now or doing SLI, but I might get an SSD in the future and possibly in the future SLI, if I need an upgrade (if it makes sense to do, I don't know). If my case turns out to be shit for a mid-spec gaming build like this I will have to replace it. So here are the filtered options: http://www.mindfactory.de/Hardware/Mainboards.html/1/4585:36172:5302:1481:2435:35485:34145:3373:4049:1547:34220:34105:890:7237:35228:1401:36547:4587:1960/112/20200/114/6858:6859/118/6933/page/2 This is a budget build so I rather wouldn't pay 80+€ for the mb. (site is in german but you don't need german to understand the motherboards)

I've found a GeForce gtx 970 for £259, I'm just curious if that card is good and if not does anyone know a better card for around the same price
What happens when you've got 2 HDD, each installed with windows7(one on 32bit one on 64bit) Can you use the 64 bit windows, whilst at the same time installing games on the hdd that has installded windows 32bit on its C partition?
Which brand of GTX 970 [editline]14th May 2015[/editline] why would you want to do this? just keep one 64 bit partition, since 64 bit can run 32 bit anyway
Zotac, not well known I'd guess but yeah that's the brand
Zotac is like the cheapest brand you can go without going shady. Do it.
Is there any issues with the card itself as someone said something about it's memory?
Hi I've got a question to ask in regards to replacing my blueray drive with an SSD. Laptop is an MSI CX61 specs below. Operating System Windows 8.1 64-bit CPU Intel Core i3/i5/i7 4xxx @ 2.20GHz 48 °C Haswell 22nm Technology RAM 8.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28) Motherboard Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MS-16GD (SOCKET 0) 53 °C Graphics Generic PnP Monitor (1920x1080@60Hz) Intel HD Graphics 4600 (MSI) 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M (MSI) 43 °C Storage 931GB Western Digital WDC WD10JPVX-22JC3T0 (SATA) 26 °C Optical Drives TSSTcorp DVDWBD SN-406AB DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device Audio Realtek High Definition Audio I've ordered a frame / bay for the ssd to slot into the existing blueray drive compartment. My only question is that before I spend £100+ on an SSD can I actually doe this, caddy / frame for the SSD cost fuck all so I'm not really fussed if I cant. If this is possible could you advise what SSD I should go for Budget is around £180/220 ish.
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/crucial-internal-hard-drive-ct512m4ssd1 there ya go boss [editline]14th May 2015[/editline] and yes you can
Nice one Kiwi!
Ok. Ok. I fucking need a new PC but since I'll finish my M.Sc. soon I'll probably be out of work for a few months so a big investment is kind of a NO. I'm ready to spend up to 600€ for a new PC. I have SSD and HDD, so I need the rest. And it needs to be quiet. I hate hearing my PC. Any suggestions? [editline]13th May 2015[/editline] So far I'm at this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Trbf4D [editline]13th May 2015[/editline] Would be nice if I could scrape off a bit but on the other hand I could sell my current stuff for like 50 to 100 € or something
Gave a shot at the 1500£++ Rig. Any obvious issue there ?
Sound card? I'm fairly picky on that and I'm so done with the integrated chipset that I don't mind coughing some dough for peace of mind. Good catch on the z87, I'd rather avoid that. Cheers.
Okay so I'm doing my first big pc build and I'm kinda nervous about spending so much money but HERE WE GO! CPU Cooler, Optical drives and and Hard drives I'm taking from my old build, pretty much the only thing salvageable. First time buying any kind of fancy mouse and keyboard too, so I'd love to know if I'm doing it right. I'm hoping to be able to keep this build for a good while, tried to give it some wiggle room for the future, mainly trying to play at 1080p.
you're the same deal too http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-z97pcmate swap it out you might wanna stretch it and go dual channel of the memory everything else in that is great
Would I be able to throw this cpu in to download the update? I mainly want that motherboard since it has SLi support. I'm aware I'm not gonna be using SLi with the 970, but... Thinking ahead, ya know.
no thats a 1156 processor in a 1150 socket motherboard you ain't gonna do it with that
Didn't think so. Fack. I guess I'll sacrifice SLi support? I think something like that is way out of my price anyways. I'm not buying all this now though, waiting until they bring out the 980ti's and seeing if that shakes about gpu prices. Oh and I wanna keep it single memory since I'm thinking I'm just gonna upgrade to 16gb of ram at some point, so I'm just leaving myself room to do that.
If you plan on sli in the future, I'd recommend getting a 750-850w psu, that will give you a lot of headroom for an additional card down the line.
no the z97 supports sli and crossfire
Oh, the info on the site was wrong then. So it's cheaper too! Win win!
If you plan on sli in the future, I'd recommend getting a 750-850w psu, that will give you a lot of headroom for an additional card down the line.
That's a very good point. I'm not planning to SLi in the future, but i'd like to leave the possibility open. I'll have a look at some prices, at the moment I feel like I'm kinda pushing it as it is.
