I guess I'm just worrying myself to death.

Yeah, he built his house and is an electrical engineer by original trade, certified electrician due to freetime.
Unless you mean the 1890's, that's really not very old as far as construction goes.
This. 90's electrical code is far better than anything you'd find in a 60s or 70s house :v:

How long to you think it'll take for the current cards to drop in price once the 3** series is announced by AMD this week? I've got just about all parts I need, just waiting on my GPU.
Quick question for you all! I currently have the EVGA GTX 760 4gb.. It has served me very well for almost two years but im starting to see it not do as well on some modern games like GTAV or Witcher 3... not terrible but not amazing. Is the upgrade to the GTX 970 worth or is there a better option. Thanks
Hey guys I'm back, I read some of the suggestions that you guys made (overclocking my 760 and all that jazz) and I did some additional research and I saw that the 290x may actually be a good choice for an upgrade from my 760 4gb. What do you all think. I know that there are some driver issues with AMD but when I look at benchmarks the 290 is impressive.
Does anyone have recommendations for a gaming laptop cooler? My Asus G46VW can run games with pretty good settings at 60-120 fps, but after extended periods it gets extremely hot and performance takes a toll or something crashes.
I'm willing to spend anything up to $50 USD.

I really liked my CoolerMaster U3. The U2 would probably be the size for you. I ended up cutting out the mesh and fan grills, rethermalpasting, and then positioned the fans right on the intakes.
As a follow-up question, is my G46VW able to use eGPU's?
This is the specification list. Mine has the i5-3230M CPU and runs Windows 8.1.
I remember reading somewhere that I may have to disconnect the WLAN card in order to use the slot for an eGPU.
what if they released the star citizen game in stores on a ssd card
also i just came up with a brillian idea for cpu cooling that would make no noise at all using "alien"tech holy shit haha
seconds after just now i thought of using mini fridge for a case but someone already thought of that

Surely the condensation would ruin that computer. Minifridges tend to not give out dry air.
I would imagine the pump has been taken out.
That kinda defeats the purpose of it being in a fridge though.
So, after applying and remove thermal paste probably a good 5-6 times, i dropped my cpu idle temps from 50 to 35. I am not good at thermal paste :v:
Should I get another 24 inch view sonic screen? Or buy a better mic?
Depends on your mic budget and whether or you're cool with xlr mics.
I built my PC last September, and now I browse the prices(on several stores) and everything is more expensive. Just looking at the monitor, CPU and motherboard the price difference is around 100€. Is it like this in other countries ?
snip- im dumb power cable to gpu not fitted all the way kill me
The mouse thread is pretty dead so I'll ask here.
Deathadder is on last legs and need a new mouse.
I sort of wanted to go wireless because its fairly handy and I love having no wires.
I was looking at the Logitech MX Performance Master.
Only thing I'm wondering is about gaming performance. I know wired is obviously better for gaming but will it really make that much difference?
I don't play competitive, most I would do is competitive in CSGO every now and then for fun.
But will a wireless mouse really make gaming super horrible or is the MX Master a good enough mouse to not notice too much of a difference

That's what I use, it can seamlessly switch from wireless to wired and the batteries are rechargeable. It works pretty well, has plenty of buttons for binds and you can even store profiles on the mouse for different bind setups. Plus, it's a good bit cheaper than the Performance Master
Not really sure where to put this question, but I'm an english speaker whose recently moved to Spain and looking to make my first custom rig.
I'm just wondering where I should consider where to buy the parts from or if it's easier to order online, since my Spanish isn't very good. Also, I'm unsure if getting a OS from here will result in everything being in spanish, unless there's some way to change the language settings to english?

Don't most foreigners speak english though? You'd be surprised I think.

There are still pins. The CPU doesn't have the pins though, the motherboard does. It's been like this since socket 775 with the P4 prescotts.
Considering upgrade for some modeling and some work in unity and or UE4. Is it worth it, or am I fine?

Anyone want to recommend me a good external DVD and Blu-Ray drive? USB 3.0 is preferable, but 2.0 is fine as well. I don't need one with writing capabilities, just one that can read both DVDs and Blu-Rays.

No need for a CPU upgrade. Get the ram
Oh hello. I'm building- well, modifying a computer. I'm looking for a new graphics card, and those around me have reccomended the asus gtx970 or 980. Here are the ones I've dug up:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121905
And here is my rig:

GPU: GeForce640
CPU: Intel r core i7-3770 CPU @3.40GHz
Memory: 16 gb ram
current rez: 1600x 900
OS: ms 8.1
If you have literally any suggestions for a better card, or other upgrades to my machine, Please tell me. This is my first time using gaming PCs and I have no idea what I'm doing.

970 is plenty good, at your resolution you could probably max most games with a 960 even, though you may also need a new PSU. What is the brand, wattage, and certification of your current one?
Looking closers it is only 350w
Need a new PSU for sure

Need more info?
I had been told PSU might be shit by another person on here before- I guess that should have been obvious because all the info is in Chinese. Will the gtx 970 be adequately supplied by this PSU or am I gonna have to swap that thing out first?
