So I'm guessing the mx100 is the way to go for a SSD?
Either that or the Samsung 850.
. There aren't any games that actually require the maximum potential of the 970 at the moment (even on max settings),
The Witcher 3 Dips to 40 fps maxed out with Hairworks on on my 970 (1680*1050/i5-4670K)
Either that or the Samsung 850
Is there much of a difference between the 2? The Samsung is only $20 more then the mx100 with both their sales
If anything, I'd give Crucial the edge due to Samsung's sometimes shoddy firmware.
Going over 1080p ruins the whole PC gaming experience for me. Anyways, the 4GB GTX 960 should cover you for more than 2 years if you just take care of your PC (physically). There aren't any games that actually require the maximum potential of the 970 at the moment (even on max settings), I've been playing Arkham Knight and GTA V on max settings with 120FPS+ and smooth gameplay.
120+ fps on arkham knight lol good joke.

I should share this with other people" ..? You're on a thread about PC building, people WITH the same card as you, probably with the exact same hardware, are gonna flood in and call you on your bullshit should you post some. GTAV on max settings, at 1920x1080 with a 960 won't reach 120FPS, let alone more than that. I kinda wish this thread was a physical room just so that we could all gently escort you out.
My 980 OC'd on 1080 max only hits about 45-55 on GTAV. I can hardly imagine a 960
That one actually sounds like it's more or your end. A 980 is perfectly enough for GTAV to run on all max. In fact, I've seen videos specifically running GTAV all maxed out with a 960 at like 50-60 FPS and then like 90-100 FPS if MSAA isn't turned on.
Does anyone have an idea when the next AMD / NVIDIA promotion for free games with a purchase of their cards usually is? Right now it's just Arkham and Dirt right?

But the advanced settings maxed on my 970 force me to use a 30fps lock to retain smoothness, because it fluctuates a lot between 30 and 60.
How does the Crucial BX100 square up against the Evo 850 I was gonna get the evo 250 for £75-80 But amazons selling the BX for £50 is it worth the extra £25+
I personally dislike the Samsungs, my old one gave me a lot of trouble because of that firmware fiasco.
First of 4 980's arrived today! Took advantage of that Micro Center price match.
Take that Binary
I'm taking 2 of them and then 2 of my friends get the others. Price? $286 for each one. So ya, random triple SLI setup time. Now to get a new power supply and more waterblocks. Next I need a motherboard that supports triple SLI, so I'm gonna jump on Skylake when it launches. Might as well go balls to the walls.
That's really nice that they bumped the PCIe lanes to 20 for skylake. That's still enough for 2 x8 slots for cards and an x4 PCIe SSD.

I'm getting the same with them off
Just bought the MX100 for $99.99 on amazon during a lightning deal, just gotta signup for the amazon prime thing. Not sure if I should cancel the Prime membership now or if I should see if there is anything else worth getting while I still have it.
If I get a new GPU, should I go with the GTX 960 or the R9 280X? They're both in a similar price range but I seem to get conflicting info on which one actually performs better with stuff like DX10/11.
R9 380 4gb version.
R9 380 4gb version.
if you can find me one for less than ~$250 I will buy it in a heartbeat. EDIT: oh wait you weren't joking, that is in the same pricerange
if you can find me one for less than ~$250 I will buy it in a heartbeat.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZGF0VGC/?tag=pcpapi-20 For some reason it defaults to MSI as the seller, but on the right hand side under other sellers choose Amazon. $240 with free shipping.
did some re-doing on my upgrade parts list and got some waaay better hardware lined up for my upgrade now, and only paying about $70 more

It was $80 for prime, dunno what he's talking about.

I recently built my computer, and was handed down what I was told was a GTX680. Unfortunately, as you can see, they were a bit off and I got a card that's a little older. :v: So, I was wondering what a good card would be. I'm planning on buying a 1440p monitor, and I'm not too concerned at playing at max settings and the like. I was thinking of getting a GTX 970 ($500 here), but that's on the pricier side. Anyone have any other suggestions? [editline]16th July 2015[/editline] And I forgot the picture!
i would go for a AMD at 1440p. perhaps a 290x or a 390
My cards came in and I feel this is the best way to post it. A couple of friends wanted to know what I'll do with the 980s. Well...
There's the R9 380, 4Gb VRAM, which goes for ~$250 USD on Newegg. It comes pretty close to the 970 in performance terms and is half the price (thanks to all the guys that pointed that out for me earlier).
