So i have a conundrum, I was originally was going to get another GPU for my computer, but as it turns out, after overclocking at max resolution, i don't think i need one for any current games i play. I still have 400$ that i can spend, but i'm unsure on what to upgrade. I have a 3570k, p8z77v-lk asus motherboard, Gtx 970, Hyper 212+ evo, Antec 550w systembuilder PSU, 128GB samsung evo SSD 1 tb + 3 320gb hardrives, 16gb samsung ram 1333, which i'm fine with. Other than that, my GF still needs a new CPU and motherboard, possibly.
Buy a nice keyboard and speakers or whatever.
get a better power supply nothing else spend it on your gf and make sure her system is some top notch shit what does she have already?
A q8400, with a gtx 770.
still get the new psu http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vJ36Lk keep the 770 that she has and she'll see a massive boost in performance edit: swapped it for a 4690k and a z97 board if you don't wanna over clock keep the board since it's only $100 and swap it for a 4690 and save an extra tenner
If it's that case, I may as well upgrade my CPU and give her the 3570k
Likely going to be getting a new pc soon. I'm going to reuse my 8GB of ram from my current PC, as well as my disc drive and wireless card. I also have a brand new Antec HCG-620 which I'll use. 2 static pressure fans going on the front in front of the drive bays, 2 air flows going on the top of the case to pull air out. The case comes with a back fan and another 2 air flow fans that are situated behind the drive bays (might keep them there, or might move them to the bottom/side) The Palit GTX 970 isn't what I'm actually getting, I'm getting a gainward gtx 970 phantom (part picker didn't have it, and the palit one was the same price as the phantom from MSY) I've opted for the 212 simply because I want a cool and quiet cpu. I've heard the stock intel cooler is quite loud. Is this the case? Otherwise I'll save my self $45 + thermal paste. I'm looking to play the metro games on high settings, killing floor 2, just cause 3, source 2 games, battlefront 3, chivalry (and chiv 2 if it ends up being torn banner's unannounced ue4 project), the witcher games, the new wolfenstein games, fallout 4/elder scrolls 6, GTA 5 I'm aiming for 60fps 1080p and may be going for 144fps in CS:GO (which I think should be easily attainable with a 970) if I get a 144hz monitor as well.
Looks like an alright build, but why are you spending $200+ on case and fans? None of the hardware in your case is going to get particularly hot enough to warrant too much cooling, the stock fans in the C70 would probably do you just fine.
Does everything look ok with this parts list? Already have a PSU
Most likely upgrading tomorrow, was wondering if going up to 8GBs and 7970 would be worth it for about 220 bucks, just trying to give this old build so more much needed pep. Also currently running a 5770 and the qx9650 is at 3.5 till I replace the northbridge heatsink.
Yeah bumping up to 8gb RAM and throwing in a 7970 would do you very well.
Right on, just trying to upgrade within a reasonable budget, at least so it'll hold me over till I finally build a whole new rig, for the most part for a 2007 cpu the qx9650 still packs a punch, just been a little lacking in the GPU dept as of late, and 8GBs is something I've been needing for awhile now.
hey all, tigerdirect.com has the 4690k on sale for $220 (normal: $240) [editline]25th March 2015[/editline] nvm, amazon does too now.. must be a price drop

I might just get the SP fans to stick on the front and then stick the stock fans behind the drive bay on the top.
hello good people of facepunch, i am looking to get a new pc as ive recently been given a bonus from work. my local pc shop is actually pretty good and i have a mate in there that will give me discount stuff so i was hoping someone would be able to assist me in buying a pc for around £600 (£650) at a push that focuses on gaming and running most games on good/high settings (if possible for that budget) here's the website; http://www.chillblast.com/Gaming-PCs/ you can choose any pc then customize it so if you guys see a decent one then customize it to meet what i need i would really appreciate it.
I have these beasts sat under my desk, I wish I didn't have to return them :( [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/y6e6EtT.jpg[/img_thumb]

Evga power supply or Corsair? I have a corsair case and soon keyboard, so I kind of want to keep a corsair theme going. But I do have a Evga 970 :v: So who has a overall better power supply?

The EVGA Supernova G2 750w will be good as any good corsair though at a quite cheaper price.
EVGA Corsair are shite quality nowadays.
Should I not get Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($119.99 @ Amazon) these then?
he was referring to power supplies
Okay, thank you! I was just making sure. Didn't know if you meant all of Corsair or just there PSU.
I just bought a corsair case and the quality compared to what I paid is absolutely fantastic. It's very nice. So I can say they at least make good cases, at least the model I got.
I just bought a corsair case and the quality compared to what I paid is absolutely fantastic. It's very nice.
Yeah their cases are still pretty top notch, and their AIO liquid coolers are great for the money, even if they still cheaped out a bit on them.
I can speak for there H100i and there 750dd case is amazing.
I can speak for there H100i and there 750dd case is amazing.
Yeah I love my 750D. The only gripe with their coolers that I have is that they use aluminum rads, which causes corrosion. Even with the glycol they use it's only got like a 3-5 year lifespan.
Ooooh. Thanks for telling me that. I will keep that in mind and be sure to upgrade that before it happens!
I mean it'll be a while, and it won't effect any of your other components aside from overheating, but that will be obvious that in a couple years it will just not perform as well. The product just isn't meant to last as long as a custom loop, and the only AIO cooler that has copper rads is notably more expensive, in addition to being expandable to add in other blocks/radiators.
is this a decent build for someone with a low budget? i know absolutely nothing about current hardware and apparently this will run most modern games at a decent framerate. the computer i have right now is lucky to get 30fps on a fuckin source game so to think that i can get something that is actually capable of the fabled "High" graphics setting is pretty great [editline]28th March 2015[/editline] total is £330.60 ($491.75)
thats an additional £90 which may not seem like a lot but it isn't something i can afford, is there a middleground compromise type setup possible? [editline]28th March 2015[/editline] theres the option of getting a decent-but-affordable setup and upgrading it bit by bit over time, but my standard for decent has been an nvidia 8500gt for the longest time so i'd like something that can at least run most games at 60+fps with decent visual settings [editline]28th March 2015[/editline] here are my current specs, bask in the aura of my cutting edge technology [sp]tf2's mvm mode once made part of my pc set on fire[/sp]
Whats a good wireless adapter that's not too pricey but still gets me good speeds? I need something that can utilize a lot of speed since I have a fast internet.
