What would you recommend for a skylake board, planning on 32GB DRR4 and two way SLI
There is basically only one usecase for SLI/Crossfire and that is if you are stupid rich and already have the best graphic's card. Even then it's a bad idea because of all the issues that arise with it.
Why? Why? Are you making a Workstation? Else this is just plain stupid.
4K gaming with dual 980 ti cards, as I don't feel a single titan X or 980ti is suitable for maxing everything out. I'm going to partition the RAM onto a 8GB RAMDisk for working on projects like video editing and 24GB for standard RAM. After effects has a diminishing return in performance after 16GB of RAM, leaving me with a large 8GB of RAM to use photoshop or do other things while hour-long renders take place, for example. The headroom is handy to stop everything grinding to a halt. Additionally a 32GB kit of 4x8GB is going to last me longer then say a 4x4GB kit, meaning I can reuse said RAM on my next build with luck. I've done some research and I think I'll be going with the z170A from ASUS due to its impressive overclocking potential. In that case I do believe dual 980 ti's scale stupid well at 4k IIRC. [editline]7th August 2015[/editline] Still compatibility and micro stutter issues with SLI. And 4k is not very good on native Windows. I'd stick with 1440p and G-Sync and a single GPU regardless.

Whenever I play games that really matter for perfect smoothness I'll be using the single card, and those tend to be less intensive, so competitive games like CSGO or DOTA2. With the dual GPU for newer games, I can't wait to play GTA V, Fallout 4, shadow of mordor etc. They scale to about 180% and really are the best option for 4K. As for windows scaling, I know all too well! My 15 inch laptop screen has 1920x1080 and using standard windows scale makes everything tiny, but I got used to that level of detail, so for me it'll be the same deal when scaled up to 28 inch 4K.

Yes then you need dual 980TI's and a 4000+$ pc to run The Witcher 3/GTA-v at max at that res. And in 2 years spend 1000$ again to keep running newer games at max at that res. Do you make a living in PC gaming or are you just insanely rich?

Well in that case just remember that some good monitors are a good idea too.
I have the money to afford the build, it's not really anyone's business beyond that
Don't worry, the majority of people here of FP just hate people spending a lot of money on computers for some reason.
Don't worry, the majority of people here of FP just hate people spending a lot of money on computers for some reason.
It's more that some people who are new to PC gaming think they need to spend that much and it is prudent to weigh the pros and cons of such a set up. It's not the money involved but the configuration.
Also, price to performance probably has something to do with it. But if you can utilize the power of such a high spec rig, go for it!
Recommend me a 1440p monitor please (UK prices)? Preferably glossy.

Alot of people dont know that the best way to future proof is money in the bank. As opposed to buying the absolute top of the line now.
Recommend me a 1440p monitor please (UK prices)? Preferably glossy.
QNIX 2710. not sure whaat it is in UK pricing, but id give it a look. it's a damn nice monitor.
I need to get myself a good and not really expensive wireless card for a desktop. Are there any 100% safe bets that you guys can recommend? ~$20 budget

Somehow binary got it really light though.
I'm thinking about replacing my EVGA GTX 760 2GB for a 4GB card. I really do love my 760, it is a fantastic card, but the low Vram is already starting to show its age, with GTA5 needing tons and Mad Max recommending 3GB. I was thinking about the 900 series, but I've heard a lot of issues with the 900 series, like that 3.5 vram deal and the 960 is only 128bit while my 760 is 256 (not sure what that really means). I really don't want to upgrade very often, so I'll want a card that'll at least last a console generation. I'll update my computer with every new console gen. Should I go ahead and buy a 900 series, or should the 700 series tide me over for now, regardless of the 2GB of Vram? And if I do decide to upgrade, how much does a used 760 go for?
The GTX 970 VRAM issue gets mentioned every few pages. You're not going to notice it unless you're getting in the 1440p or 4k range. If you're playing 1080p, you'll be fine. It's a fantastic card.

Starting to think even with ridiculous EU tariffs and shipping it'll be cheaper to buy a Korean monitor off of 'some Korean guy' on eBay
Can't find it for sale anywhere. Smaller countries like Belgium they're a pain in the ass.
But what am I meant to do if it comes broke? I don't imagine they really bother with any warranty...
Got mine off Newegg, but i'd recommend buying off a site that will replace it if it does come broken. in where the UK idk. it is a Korean panel. and it's a very nice one.
Ebay has buyer protection. Ebay is actually stupidly biased towards the buyer.
which is slightly scary.
One more thing regarding this build, how long do you folks think it'll last before I'll need to start upgrading? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/NrW2D3
One more thing regarding this build, how long do you folks think it'll last before I'll need to start upgrading? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/NrW2D3
Depends on what you want it to do. If it means tweaking down the graphics a little year by year to play the latest games at 1080p, then you can make it last 3-4 years. If you want everything in high then you'll need an annual or biannual upgrade. If you're going to run it until it can't run anything on low you can push it for 5-6 maybe?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/NrW2D3
I built a midrange gaming PC in 2010, and it managed to last me about 4 years before I had to start cranking down to medium or lower in newer games. I would say it should last about that long or better unless you're determined to max out everything at 1080p no matter what.

How is 120GB as a pure OS drive I am getting larger capacity for anything else, but the thing is I have a 120gb pci-e OCZ Revodrive 3 lying around that has a 1000mb/s read speed and it would be absolutely fantastic for boot times, with other pcie drives costing through the roof.
Cheers
After OS install and formatting loss you should still have over 70gb to spare.
