Sorting out a build for my friend, got everything sorted bar the PSU. We've used corsair CX500Ms in the past but have heard that the ODM changed and they suck a bit more now. So basically looking for the cheapest 500W PSU that's of good quality (UK based).

Are there any good case fans with no LED
I plan on putting in some CCFLs in the case

Fractal makes some pretty nice ones that aren't Noctua priced.

I made a build is it complete garbage? I'm not really sure what I'm doing

I was looking into the Arctic Cooling F12 but the Fractals look good too
The PSU could definitely be improved. Get an EVGA GS 550 or XFX 550. I think both of those are the cheapest right now. Switch the SSD to a Crucial MX100 or 200 or Samsung 850

Looks good but get a different SSD I think, and tbh you don't need a disk drive but that's up to you.

Is the monitor decent? I honestly just tacked it on because I don't own one currently
I'd also get this video card. A non reference cooler is definitely worth it.

I have the same board and the same cpu cooler. It'll slightly block the left most ram slot depending on what side the fan is on. Unless you're using all four slots tho it won't be a problem. The board is solid tho but the I/o shield feels cheap.
Alright guys, how does this baby look?
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ks89zy
Anything worth tweaking? I don't think Ill be getting this right now, maybe in a few more paychecks. I havent picked a case yet either, that will require me to do more research.
The things Im not completely sure on yet is the mobo, ram, and psu
They all look good to me. Others may have different opinions though h
How is this for a gaming computer?

You have a K (overclocking unlocked processor) on a H97 (non-overclocking) motherboard, meaning you're spending more on the CPU for no extra.

The PSU is way overkill unless you want to add a second GPU later. Also that CPU cooler is very underwhelming. You're much better off getting a high end air cooler at that budget.

You could definitely have a better PSU.

So now that Skylake is out, should I just get Intel i7-5930K or go for new Skylakes (which I heard is shit) ?
Main use: Games, Video Editing, 3D Rendering.
Or should I get i7-5960X if I want best cpu for all those 3 tasks?

Yeah, I was considering that, but I like the look and quieter noise of closed loop watercoolers. Is there a better suited closed loop cpu cooler that is still 120X120mm, or do I pretty much have to move up to 120X240mm?

It's not going to be quieter if you want it to actually perform, I can guarantee you that. AIO's are really only worth it for 240mm up.

Two ssd's?
Two ssd's?
One for OS and the others for other shit I would think.
That still makes no sense. Why would you do that. There are few reasons and last time I checked sanddisk's were shit tier SSD's anyway.
Because some people prefer to have the os installed by itself and all their games and shit installed elsewhere. Just because it doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean it's a bad idea.

Their Pro type models are actually in that Cruicial/Samsung/Intel tier.

It's a bad idea because it's quite an inferior drive.
I know the drive is shit, my point had nothing to do about the specifics of the drives but with having two separate ones.
The sandisk 64gb ssd is just a placeholder until I research and pick a good 64gb ssd.
The reason Im getting a 64gb ssd is to use it as a big ass cache for the 2tb hdd with intel rapid response. Ive got a 64gb msata ssd in my current computer for that use and it works pretty well.
So the 500gb ssd is for windows and any games that would benefit greatly from it. Everything else goes on the 2tb hdd with the 64gb ssd as a cache.

That really depends on how much 3d rendering You actually do. The speed difference is pretty minimal. Skylake is fine btw, except for the price tag.
Not sure if this fits here, but I decided against actually creating a dedicated thread for these simple questions:
Is SATA III backward compatible with SATA II? That is, can I purchase a SATA III disk, and plug it into a SATA II motherboard, or even a SATA II supporting external case?
Yep it will work just fine.
it will just work at SATA II speeds aka 3gbps vs 6gbps
Or in the case of SATA II external case, USB 2.0 which is horribly slow, but at least this confirms my hopes. Thanks a ton!
