I'm trying to choose between Seasonic's S12g-550 and G-550 PSU. From what I see they basicly same, except S12g is not modular. But there is one thing that I don't understand (because of small knowledge about electronics). On most sites both psu have 45A on +12v, which is fine for 970 strix (38A min). But then I checked official seasonic site and there this for S12G: 30A on two +12v: Can someone explain this please?
Are you sure you're looking at the right site? http://www.seasonicusa.com/S12G.htm Seasonic USA also list the S12G-550 as a 45A rail.
http://seasonic.com/product/s12g-550/ There, "Specifications" tab.
I'd still like some feedback from this build. Is the parts compatible with each other and is there maybe better parts I should get instead that has no big price difference? [t]http://i.imgur.com/CIL59pm.png[/t] Posting this screencap from the site I plan on buying everything from because the motherboard is nowhere to be found in pcpartpicker.com. Planning on having this for gaming of course.
Get a different PSU
Looks fine, The R9 390 is a questionable choice, its an 290 with double the ram, but the settings that use more then 4gb, will have your games running at negative FPS.
what would you suggest I use?
what would you suggest I use?
Well the 390 might eventually make sense, if you decide to SLI them. But if you're just going for single GPU, then get an 290 or an 970.
What's wrong with it?
there's nothing really wrong with it, just not very good quality
Looks fine, The R9 390 is a questionable choice, its an 290 with double the ram, but the settings that use more then 4gb, will have your games running at negative FPS.
I don't really understand
as in even at 1920x1080 even with 8GB of vram u wont be getting more performance unless its at much higher resolutiosn then 1920x1080
Will it perform worse than the other two he suggested?
Will it perform worse than the other two he suggested?
No, but a 290 will be cheaper. The point that a game is going to be using more than 4gb of VRAM is going to be after the point that a single 390 cannot handle more than a couple FPS for said game.
last two questions, would running at higher resolution still be possible with the 290, or would that be better with a 390? and why when I look up the 290 graphics card on newegg do I find multiple kinds of cards with the name?
What's a better brand then? Thought Corsair made good power supplies.
Corsair doesn't make power supplies. They just buy them from other companies and slap a box on it. Get an XFX, Seasonic, Superflower, or Antec High Current Gamer or Earthwatts (Green).
sorry, lied about the last question thing, why are there different versions? whats different?
Different manufacturers have different coolers and such. Same base chip. Like an MSI vs an ASUS motherboard. [editline]26th August 2015[/editline]
Alright, I'll go with a "XFX Pro Series 650W 80+ Bronze" then.
Sounds perfect.
what's special about the one you told me to get?
what's special about the one you told me to get?
It cools well, is clocked pretty high, and has a great warranty. Also it's the cheapest one from a quality manufacturer on pcpartpicker.
thanks!
So how huge the difference between i5 and i7, does an average user of photoshop and video editing really need an i7? I mean I used to have some dual core really bad laptop and even that could render videos.
It depends, but generally No. Video Editing is largely GPU and IO now a days, and Photoshop actually being a performance intensive program is only very situational. You can do CPU rendering for Videos and Models, and then the i5 vs i7 performance really becomes apparent. But really you should be doing these things on an GPU, and everything mainstream seems to support that. "Need" is a big word tho, you can always go bigger/faster when it comes to building a computer, that's why people ask for a budget.
Obviously it's not exactly the same as video editing but I rendered the same fractal with hyper threading on and off on my i7 2600k and it only reduced rendering time from 9:23 to 7:32 (~20% faster).
I am unsure if I can use my current 5 year old DVD reader for my new upcoming PC build, I tried Googling for my DVD reader name but can't find any specifications for it. Gonna use a Corsair Carbide 200R case, and it apparently has four 2.5" spots, four 3.5" and three 5.25" spots, so I'm guessing it should fit into the case just fine?
So I guess putting another 980ti in SLI would also be a tad unnecessary?
If you're just using your rig for gaming and light work/school work, upgrading your GPU is more important than your CPU. An i5 will hold fine for future games unless more and more games that utilize all 8 cores/hyperthreading come out.
Because i7 has no big performance difference to i5 if you're only gonna use it for gaming. i7 would make more sense to get if you're more into rendering videos, streaming, etc.
With DX12 comming, i7's are going to see a boost in game performance for games created in dx12. Hey, back again with a more solid question this time. My file server is too weak, and since my AMD A10-6800K has a hard time keeping up, I'm looking to upgrade my motherboard, CPU and maybe RAM. Is it worth it to upgrade to a Skylake CPU, or should I continue to use a Socket 1150 CPU? My maximum budget is 350 euros here.
