With DX12 comming, i7's are going to see a boost in game performance for games created in dx12. (First will be coming out in december)
If anything it's going to reduce CPU overhead and low end CPU's are going to see a boost more than high end.
GPUs scaled so fast, that rendering 10 million triangles, was a possible GPU load, but if you distributed it over more then 10k draw calls, the driver would choke under the load. So the drivers in DirectX12 are now multithreaded much better, and they provide a level of control where you can reuse some of the drawcalls. So there is less load, and its better at spreading the load. And that will mainly be apparent on AMD GPUs (because their driver performance is about 1.5-3 worse then Nvidia ones) and low single core performance CPUs, or just weaker CPUs in general. EDIT: Amount of DrawCalls is pretty much controlled by the amount of shit on the screen, so RTS games with thousand of units, or open world games, will benefit much more from this, then for example an indoor FPS.
Looking for a full ATX gaming and adobe oriented video editing desktop, with a slant toward editing. Trying to fit it under 1000 using Amazon, since I have Amazon Prime.
Can laptop SATA 1 ports be replaced/upgraded to SATA 2 or 3 ports? Just found out I only have only one SATA 1 port and no others, and I'd like to switch it out so my SSD will work properly.
Hey guys, I need some help with a suggestion for a CPU cooler. My build consists of: - Samsung 850 Pro Series 256GB SSD - EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Superclocked ACX 2.0 4GB - G.Skill Ripjaws 4 F4-2400C15Q-16GRR 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 - Intel Core i7 5820K - EVGA SuperNOVA 1000W Platinum Power Supply - Western Digital WD Black 1TB WD1003FZEX - Corsair 760T Full Tower Graphite Series And I just recently purchased: - Gigabyte GA-X99-UD4P ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard I was on PC Part Picker and it said I needed a CPU cooler, otherwise everything else was compatible. I intend to use this build for hardcore gaming. Any suggestions for a CPU cooler? Budget shouldn't be much of an issue but I truly want something reliable.

Thinking of getting a somewhat cheap gaming desktop. I want to keep the budget around $400 or $450. I already have a spare SSD and hard drive it could use so there's no need for those to go into the budget, and the monitor I have is 1080p. It'll mostly just be used for playing anything Blizzard makes, Dark Souls 1/2, and maybe Black Ops 3. It needs to be small though so it would need to be in a M-ITX or M-ATX case. [editline]27th August 2015[/editline] Oh, and I won't be doing any overclocking.

Should get better with DX12 too. Yeah, I could go higher with the budget. But when looking at the big picture I rather not since I could use that money elsewhere. Blizzard games aren't all that demanding, and I'm one of those people who turn shadows off on everything so getting a good framerate shouldn't be too hard. I got "inspired" to get a desktop again after watching Austin Evan's budget $400 and $500 build videos.

Would going wth AMD for the CPU have any major impact on the possible performance of the build?

ief014, your disagree doesn't make much sense with what I'm asking. Unless you mean that it wouldn't have any, or very little, performance impact.
ief014, your disagree doesn't make much sense with what I'm asking. Unless you mean that it wouldn't have any, or very little, performance impact.
it's an answer to your question, which is no. but it still varies on which cpu you're looking at.

PCPP says the wind force 980ti is 11 inches long, while Amazon says its 15 inches long, similar with the MSI 980Ti, which is like 11.6 inches long on PCPP, but ~14 inches on amazon.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/XJIhBKG.png[/t] Is this worth it for £650? I have a 770 I could swap out as well. He's also willing to go lower with the price, I don't know how much though. (ignore the bracketed stuff, he's trying to inform people that aren't versed in parts) And say I was to swap out the 770, how much would you sell this for: Intel i5 2500k GTX 560 Ti 400GB Seagate HDD 2x4gb RAM (DDR3) AsRock P67 Pro3 Silentium T11 Case 650W PSU
How much would that stuck together one go for beneath it?
What? Yes but you are paying for a 560. The RAM is fine then.

If you're looking to use all those programs at once the 2600k would be worth it. Probably almost necessary.
anyone know a good 1080p monitor for around 100-130 USD?
