Edit: Searched a little more, this is the exact same one right? http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/MSI-H97-PC-Mate-Intel-H97-So-1150-Dual-Channel-DDR3-ATX-Retail_961283.html
Yeah, looks good to me
Yeah, looks good to me
Alright. I just went ahead and ordered those exact 3 parts. My old cpu fan is attached with string(the original AMD one broke, so my AMD cpu has an Intel fan), about time for an upgrade :D very excited for when the parts arrived, haven't 'built' a pc in some time!
Not looking to build a PC, I just need a new video card. As I have a Readon HD 7000 and it can't run the newer stuff. Which I need a new one that will run the newer games mainly fallout 4. Looking for $200 or less if possible.
Not looking to build a PC, I just need a new video card....
Do you know what power supply you have?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ZOTAC-GeForce-GTX-670-2GB-ZT-60301-Graphics-Card-/321885225269?hash=item4af1dac135
As an update, I got this guy's 670. He upgraded the shipping to express at no extra cost and it got here the next day. Set it up, works perfect, so happy and relieved. I'm wondering what to do with my bad 670 now. [editline]9th October 2015[/editline]
Not looking to build a PC, I just need a new video card. As I have a Readon HD 7000 and it can't run the newer stuff. So I upgraded some parts on my new computer. I upgraded to 16GB of ram, and I bought a new gpu. However, I have two problems. 1) I need a new PSU. I currently have a 500w one that came with my case, but I want a full modular one that's at least 600w, if not more. 2) I'm looking at getting a liquid cooling system for my cpu. The radiator for the gpu is using air from inside the case. This is fine, but I would like to have my cpu water cooled as well so that the heatsink isn't dumping heat into the case, which is used to cool the gpu radiator. Not looking for mega-overclocking style cooling, just something that's better than the stock heatsink/fan, and allows me to dump the hot air outside of the case. Current specs: MOBO: GIGABYTE G1.Sniper Z97 CPU: i7-4790K Devil's Canyon RAM: 2x 8GB HyperX Fury GPU: EVGA 980ti Liquid Cooled SSDs: 120GB, 1TB (arriving tomorrow) HDDs: 1TB, 500GB PSU: Rosewill 500w (came with the case)
My rig is pretty much solid now, really love it, theres just two things i want to do to it. I wanna replace the Asus MOBO with an MSI Gaming 7 (z97) because i dont want to keep the components too mixed, I run mostly MSI stuff, wanna swap out my Kingston 16gb of Savage 2400mhz RAM from 4x4 to 4x8, and i just wanna install a Blu-Ray player and i'll be all set, i got my Asus Rog Swift today and 1440P is heaven. My rig is SLi 980Ti's, i7 4790k @ 4.5ghz cooled by a Akasa Venom, 16GB Hyper X Savage Kingston 2400MHZ Ram, Asus Maximus Ranger, Got a Sentry 3 Fan Controller, 760w Platinum Corsair PSU Modular, 1x250GB Samsung 850 Pro SSD, 1x500GB Samsung 850 Pro SSD, 2x4TB WD Black HDDs and all in a Phanteks Enthoo Primo. Oh yea, and that reminds me, i wanna replace the god awful plastic on the side of the case for actual glass, the windows on this case suck so bad, so foggy that i cant install LED's into it to make it purdy. Some Pics, Oh yea and i also got a MSI Sli Bridge that lights up, i like it :) [T]https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t34.0-12/12077043_1651506605110133_1835178374_n.jpg?oh=e595d42d232b550069e890743eab4b3d&oe=561AD5C7[/T] [T]https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xat1/v/t34.0-12/12087379_1651506598443467_1049312780_n.jpg?oh=244081d8000e71a791fb079b8c60b1ce&oe=561A76C2[/T] [T]https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/v/t34.0-12/12081353_1651506595110134_485790676_n.jpg?oh=3580cd8b500cbed142cd5a692e16e7d4&oe=561A8231[/T] [T]https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t34.0-12/12077497_1651506608443466_1271704860_n.jpg?oh=ae8d7b61516a8f2c901d2753a0d5ba02&oe=561A6DF0[/T]
Mixing component brands means absolutely nothing.
Holy fuck your Canadian dollar is awful.
Tell me about it. I'm glad I've updated half of my gaming rig when I did half a year ago, but I'm still stuck with my 4 year old hd5850. Gpus are now almost 50% more expensive in canada now, fuckin sucks.

USD is falling slowly at least though. [t]http://i.imgur.com/1ZhUbDQ.png[/t] Very slowly but maybe in a few months it will be less shitty.
I have a credit budget of about $1000, and I want something that can keep me with the modern gaming generation for the next half decade.

-oh, okay then Kiwi :(-
what totally possible ibuypower do it easily [editline]11th October 2015[/editline] wicked you didnt get the conversation me and martin had he wont build it himself he has to do it all in credit
The more problematic aspect is "for the next five years" -- probably impossible without upgrading your video card. [editline]10th October 2015[/editline] Going five years without a complete rebuild is very easy though -- just build on the newest archetecture and don't be opposed to upgrading RAM and shit

Honestly I'm starting to see why folks prefer consoles. [editline]10th October 2015[/editline] Only thing keeping me from doing that is I already have alot of money invested into Steam and PC games, and I can't leave my good steam friends behind.

I think it's totally possible, depending on what your standard is. If by "keep up with modern gaming" you mean the ability to run any game that comes out for the duration of the current console generation at better settings and framerate than either console, then yeah I'd say you can totally do that with $1000. If you mean playing the latest pc exclusives at the highest settings at 4k 60fps, then obviously you can't do that on a thousand dollars. The thing about it is to ask yourself: what will you be content with? If you're a simple man like me, you'd probably be pretty content with your regular old everyday i5, 8-16gb of ram + a gtx 970 or something in that range, that'll keep you going for at least the next few years. Maybe you'd consider buying another 970 for cheap to sli in a few years, but you probably won't even need it if the current consoles stick around for even half as long as the previous ones did.
Or get a R9 390 instead like I was going to suggest but then Kiwi shot a hole in my plan. Better bang for the buck over a 970 IMO, especially if he wants to eventually do stuff at 1440p or 4K.
Since my PC's basically falling apart (I don't know why, but it's gone through hell of a lot of abuse and most of the ports on the damn thing are broken) and it's not great for upgrade-ability, might make a new build instead from scratch. I have £720 left over after accommodation fees from my uni budget - I have a job to pay for food etc and also have savings as backup money so I'm good financially. What do you guys think?
Spend a few more bucks and get a crucial mx100 ssd, sandisk I hear isn't too reliable. Also if you plan on doing overclocking with tge z97 mobo and K cpu, you're gonna need an aftermarket cooler, but that's something you can do later. You should also swap that PSU with something else more reliable. Check out xfx for some cheap and more reliable units (xfx proseries 550w is the same price as the corsair cx500). Someone else can probably help you pick out a better one since I'm on mobile atm

I'll have at a different SSD and PSU though. Forgot to attach the PCPP link. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/fHXdRB I get legit Windows licenses through my Uni's Dreamspark so that's no worry, and I also have peripherals.
I'm not into over-clocking. Never have been, probably never will be.
In that case, get a i5 4690 (non-K) and an h97 motherboard to save a few bucks.
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Pxz96h That any better? I think I'll stick with the Sandisk SSD, the Crucial ones are far more expensive.

What do you guys think?
Instead of a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, strongly consider the AMD Radeon R9 390 which would also at the moment save you a few quid: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r9390gaming8g It can closely match, and sometimes at higher resolutions, outpace the GTX 970 due to the fact that it has 8 GB of VRAM all to one chip: I won't complain much however if you like the "convenience" features NVIDIA offers such as ShadowPlay and decide to stick with the 970, but if you're wanting to do things at 1440p or 4K, the R9 390 is a quite compelling alternative.

Think you might have sold me on that. I'm not sure when I'm going to order this build, I'm not too desperate at the minute since this PC is still running okay, but thanks for the help guys.
