Never got around to blocking the SSH port because the only account that's enabled only has a private key [sp]and I'm a fucking idiot[/sp]. Turns out I had a couple of failed login attempts. Bonza. I bet that's why SSH has been taking fucking ages to log in too the cunts. I should not be allowed to touch computers.
1. Change SSH Port 2. Use Private Key Auth 3. Disable Root User in SSH Config (Or even better disable root login in general) 4. Whitelist only ip ranges from your country in your firewall. Whitelisting only your own country is overkill, but will stop 95% of malicious traffic right at the firewall.
How would you know if you had a dead CPU on your hands? Maybe it's my CPU thats dead, it has been running overclocked for almost 5 years after all...

Changing the SSHD config when the only connectivity I have is over SSH is scary.
How would you know if you had a dead CPU on your hands? Maybe it's my CPU thats dead, it has been running overclocked for almost 5 years after all...
You rule out everything else first, both the motherboard and psu are more likely to break, all you need to test is a CPU Motherboard and PSU, so rule out the motherboard and PSU instead. You can start the PSU manually, and measure things with a multimeter, not sure how you would go about testing the motherboard without any replacement parts tho, you can check if a transistor is bulged, if it is bulged the transistor is dead or on its way. [editline]9th August 2016[/editline] Well my h100i pump has developed issues after 2 years of use, it sort off 'restarts' every 10 seconds and takes the fans and LEDs with it. Corsair support was pretty great, 5 year warranty, shipping to/from a dutch service center, and they send me new one before having to send the old one back, getting the h100i v2 for free, and they are letting me send the old one in without fans. Almost bought a new one, because I am kinda used to factory warranty not being worth a dime, often requiring me to pay for International shipping, have to do without for ~a month, and things like "We're going to refuse your RMA because you din't ship this optionally required part with it"

I'll keep the motherboard and CPU as parts and then maybe in the future if I need a secondary PC I can find a new motherboard or whatever. For now I think it's just time to upgrade. [editline]9th August 2016[/editline] If this had happened two years ago I would have probably tried harder to get it to work.
Now this... is an IO....
Wait, not all expensive mobos have that bios button? Still stuck on jumpers and stuff?
Wait, not all expensive mobos have that bios button? Still stuck on jumpers and stuff?
I believe that button is for updating the BIOS without a CPU, not all expensive motherboards can do that
Honestly HDMI is much more ubiquitous these days. Like everyone and their grandma has a spare cable tucked away somewhere.
I disagree. The reason why VGA is pretty much always included is because its guaranteed on any proper monitor. Its like composite. Not the best quality, but it gets the job done and everything new and old supports it. There is reasoning behind it on boards. Loads of people still on cheap VGA only monitors. Better question is why they have 3 outputs on gaming boards at all. Because your putting a GPU in later anyway. how about putting more sata ports on the mobo instead of useless usb ports? (usb hubs)
That's why got a chipset that doesn't even support integrated graphics :eng101:
I think I damaged the iGPU when I delidded my 4770k so I'm kinda in the same boat.
how about putting more sata ports on the mobo instead of useless usb ports? (usb hubs)
why not both? they're completely independent systems
why not both? they're completely independent systems
to reduce cost/space? i don't see the need for that many usb ports when you can just split them
to reduce cost/space? i don't see the need for that many usb ports when you can just split them
I guess yeah. I would like to see a new emphasis towards frontpanel USB to be honest. It's nice having 9 USB ports on the back and everything but it's not the most easily accessible. Though for SATA/USB ports it probably costs them a nickel to add new ones. Also man nothing makes you get your shit together like lowkey realizing you're spiraling into crippling credit card debt
to reduce cost/space? i don't see the need for that many usb ports when you can just split them
USB hubs incur a performance penalty. Mostly in latency, but also throughput in a congested situation.
Okay, I did it. [T]http://i.imgur.com/D1oSaNgh.jpg[/T] Point and laugh
please tell me you used a can of regular old spray paint for that

Need a RAID card that supports 5TB Drives, got a HP ProLiant DL160 G6. Got a bunch of 5TB ToshX300's. I don't keep an eye on modern raid cards, any recommendations?

No idea if it'll work well in a HP server, but I know many people have had success with them in homebuilt servers.
You what mate
Can confirm there were like 5 USB ports in all of Sweden when I was there. They just use tons of hubs.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/QgMyQNH.png[/t] No Wikipedia, this is not how you sort by date...
Just snatched a SMART ARRAY P410, that should do the job for my RAID 10. :) A whooping £20, with a new battery and a 3 month warranty.

Jesus christ I have an interesting issue. I built a speaker out of a wooden mailbox, ATX PSU, car radio and car speakers. The power-on button is a button to the green atx and a common ground, what should be okay right? Now, the PSU sometimes, just sometimes, turns off when I turn on my LED light bar. Just sometimes, not always. The same thing has happened with 2 PSU-s now, but never with my computer. All are connected to the same outlet. The LED bar doesn't even use a transformer, there are just a lot of them connected in series. What the fuck is going on? Is the PSU getting a slight fluctation in voltage, making it trip the internal fuse or what the hell. I understand that it did it before, because I had a PSU that we raised the voltage of and didn't rip the failsafes off, but the new one is completely stock and does this.
