That sounds like a really shitty host then.
I find it super annoying with Windows 10 Home automatically downloading updates without a clear way of pausing the downloading. I don't want to download a massive update and destroy the WiFi in a resort home with slow Internet to begin with..

Oops.
That sounds like a really shitty host then.
It's so cheap though.
I wish I could set my wired connection as metered
As far as I know. When I'm on wired, Wi-Fi settings are gone in the settings and I can't set the connection as metered without that panel of settings.
Holy shit, I just heard China brought UMPCs back.

It's a shame tiny keyboards will never be comfortable to type on - I'd consider replacing my Chromebook with that thing if they were :v:

Wish it had a a bigger keyboard and no game controls, but it looks like the closest we will get to a modern UMPC for a long time.
Still beats touchscreens by a big margin...
I could type faster on my P1i than I can on any touch keyboard. [t]http://www.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/se-p1i-2.jpg?11fac8[/t]
I like the typing mode you can select on steam, that you also had in PSP homebrew Even if it had a touchscreen i could consider using that, especially since touchscreen typing tends to be shit in these kind devices because they hard to hold the way you would normally hold a tablet or phone.
They're $330, I'd buy one if they were a bit cheaper but I suppose you can't make everything that comes out of China cost pennies.
They're $330, I'd buy one if they were a bit cheaper but I suppose you can't make everything that comes out of China cost pennies.
Its not cheap, but its not outrageous either. Hopefully that means they gave it a decent build quality and components. I would be more concerned if it was only $150.
Its not cheap, but its not outrageous either. Hopefully that means they gave it a decent build quality and components. I would be more concerned if it was only $150.
They have Android ones that people seem to like just great, so it'll probably be pretty decent.
I do not give a damn what anyone says about this but this is cool for so many reasons, built on ABXY controller with bumpers, it's portable as fuck. The battery will probably be enough to get through half way of God Hand. Omron switches and USB type-c? I fucking want one of these. Questioning the CPU of choice but hey if it gets the job done then who cares it's quoting some respectable battery life and it's probably close but that's baytrail for ya. Personally I'd like to see a i3 mobile chip.
Cherry Trail. They are reasonably decent chips, especially since they will give it 4 GB of RAM. i3 was probably not considered due to cost and form factor. The power consumption of a z8700 is 2 watts. None of the i3's come anywhere close.
Fixed my error. That is true they are extremely low powered and zippy chips. Just wanted to see a bit more grunt. I'm not doubting it's performance. Just past experiences with Atoms being really bad for anything but a web browser and word processor.
Yeah, they are nowhere near as bad as they used to be. Its never going to be a snappy as an i3, but I've run games on an older Bay Trail tablet and it actually manages surprisingly well as long as they are multithreaded. Its bottleneck wasn't truly the CPU, but only having 2 GB of RAM and thermal throttling. It may only run Skyrim at 30 fps on low but that was very impressive in 2013, I'm sure this will muster better.

Not that I wouldn't pay ~$700 for a UMPC with a CoreM.
since this thread was about tech illiterate people during an internship i had 4-6 years back, it was student helpdesk at a school. basically just helping students with any issues with their pc they had. it sucked one time this girl brings in her laptop. says shit's slow and prone to freezing i open it up, taskbar is loaded with those malware-esq toolbars, i wouldnt have been surprised if bonzi buddy showed up open up ie and the screen is 70% toolbars go to google.com, it all freezes up. ran memtest, turned up nothing. i told her i'd have to reformat the laptop. any data she needs to save has to be copied now, i said, or it'll be lost forever. 'nah its ok' 2 weeks later she comes back to her freshly installed laptop. first thing she cries out when she opened it up was 'WHERE ARE MY PICTURES'
So what warrants a Core M chip being 10x as expensive as a Atom chip?
So what warrants a Core M chip being 10x as expensive as a Atom chip?
Maybe not quite what you'd consider warranted but it's pretty damn high binning. Core i architecture chip in a 4.5w package? That's gotta have some low yields compared to others. Atoms are just stripped down x86 made for a budget market. [editline]11th August 2016[/editline] Also I'd argue the chip isn't necessarily 10x more expensive, but the products are. Between a $70 atom tablet and a $700 Core M laptop you're getting a keyboard, 4-8x more RAM, PCIe SSD over eMMC, a 1080p+ IPS screen compared to a mediocre 768p panel, etc.
I looked up the price from the wikipedia page, Skylake-Y ranges 280-390 USD, Cherry Trail-T ranges 20-40 USD. Its just the processor itself afaik no chipset or other things included. So i thought that price of chip would mainly be like declared by production techonlogies and the size of the die, but the package size is 20 mm × 16.5 mm for CoreM and 17 mm × 17 × 1.0 mm for Atom. And they are both 14nm production technology. [editline]12th August 2016[/editline] Their Atom and Core M lines are on a collision course, like ~2W vs 4.5W, performance difference 30-50% in some cases, meanwhile with a price difference of a factor 10, it seems really crazy.
Haha good luck with libhybris-less linux on Intel Atom SoC
I can always port it myself v:v:v Not sure why I would need libhybris, though? I thought the latest Atom processors have decent Linux support.

Especially since you can use it as a mini desktop with a USB hub and an HDMI LCD.
You can preorder on IndieGogo. However, that campaign is already like 500% funded, so you can do the more sensible thing and wait for it to actually come out and be reviewed and such first. Also, I should grab one of the Motorola laptop docks while they're still available - I could just stick this thing in there whenever I need a full sized keyboard and screen for doing work. I could completely replace my Chromebook by doing that.
