I could get 100/100 if I could be arsed to dig the trench for the fiber cable for our driveway.
I'm waaay too cheap to pay the company to do it for me, and maxed-out ADSL2+ is good enough 95% of the time, so lack of effort on my part :v:
You could probably rent a trencher from a hardware store.
you can bet your ass that if I had the opportunity to get 100/100 I'd dig a fucking trench
Yeah that's what I did. A 50ft trench of Cat5e outdoor and now I have free 100/100!
Can somebody please tell me how to kill all this empty space. It won't let me just click and drag the edge.

It allowed it for me. Try seeing if you have "Lock taskbar" option enabled?

Sorry, I'm a moron. Thanks!

this is me when premiere says half the files I've used for 9 months for projects suddenly have no audio.
So buddy I know in Vancouver just switched from Shaw Cable to Telus for his internet. The advantage is he moves from cable to fiber just like I have.
Before I could ask him how he enjoyed his new 24/4 speeds the says he's loving his new 150/150. He has the service tier below me.
Telus what the fuck are you doing??
Does anyone know if reinstalling Windows destroys my software RAID array configured in the partition manager?
You could probably rent a trencher from a hardware store.
Technically the trench itself isn't the problem, it's the decorative gravel and nice looking pavement blocks of the driveway that keeps me procrastinating, because I intent to keep it pristine looking even after.
But that takes quite amount of effort, soo....

Software RAID as in a dynamic volume created using Window's built in Computer Management tool?
What's the minimum space requirement for win 10 64 bit after anniversary update? I want to be completely sure, I want to install it on a x86 single board computer which has 64gb emmc, but I also want to run a VM (either virtualbox or hypervisor) for linux might even native boot into the virtual hard drive. It's for testing, learning, an experimental not performance so I want some room to have a linux distro or two running.
TL;DR What's the spec now for win 10 after the anna update?

ISP's don't always make sense. Looked into having my mom save some money on her bills, TV is impossible to work around properly - but apparantly by saving like 12€ a month, she could go from 60/60 to 1000/1000... (Still on the same fiber connection)
Although, this time around it is sort of a different ISP, so it's a bit more understandable.

It doesn't have higher specification requirements, you just need headroom for the extra copy of Windows you'll be having until install has been completed (It's to make sure that if any upgrades go wrong, then it can always revert)

Looked into seeing what she watched and seeing if cord cutting would be a viable option? Pay TV is extortionate going by the UK's example and if you can get all the programmes she desires they could save a bit of money too.

I've yet to have that happen but I've had Premiere do other weird thing.
From another forum:
On July 4th I bid and won an auction for a prebuilt i7 machine. The listing showed only $25.25 for shipping from California to Florida. I knew that was way too low so I contacted the buyer and requested an updated quote for actual shipping. I also asked that it be properly packed because it was a heavy unit and I wanted it to make it to Florida in one piece. Also that I was aware shipping costs could be high.He agreed but said he was in a retirement home and didn't have the money to ship the computer.
I agreed to send $175.00 to at least get the unit packed and when he got the actual quote, contact me.
He contacted twice, each time requesting more money. I was under the impression the seller did not have enough money to ship the unit and pay PayPal's fees so I sent a total of $325 via PayPal "Friends and Family". After he received the money, all communication stopped.
The response?
I am sorry to hear your issue, and the problem you faced.
in a way yes you can blame the seller BUT a major portion of the blame lies squarely on eBay and it selling/buying model. This NEEDS to change. and we can all email eBay and request same.
No, he's a fucking idiot and so are you. He had a bunch of red flags in his face and bypassed two levels of buyer protection ebay adds by default. He has nothing to complain about and you are trying to push the blame onto something who went out of their way to prevent it.
Do you have Windows Update turned off?
Nope, however whenever I try install any it stays on "Checking for updates..." until the end of days.
Could be the definition being up to date and not the program. But who knows its Windows.
Nah it says they're out of date, the picture is after I manually updated it (and it claims it's all ~automatic~)
Software RAID as in a dynamic volume created using Window's built in Computer Management tool?
Yeah, I configured a striped volume (RAID 0) in the partition manager, does it get wiped if I reinstall Windows?
So uh, my display driver seems to have uninstalled itself for no discernable reason - The DXMD Game Ready Nvidia ones - Which TotalBiscuit also reported as randomly uninstalling itself.
Creepy as fuck. Reinstalling them now.
My Intel 120gb SSD died tonight
Time to buy a new boot drive I guess :^)
Adobe Acrobat Pro DC is being weird. When I export a Microsoft Office Word document using the "Save as Adobe PDF", the images are fine but low resolution. Not good enough to send to someone else when photo quality is important. When I use the "Microsoft Print to PDF", the images are fine but higher resolution and overall much better. But wait, when I use Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, it decides to fuck up one image for whatever reason.
Adobe Acrobat Pro DC looks like this. Adds this weird shit.

Microsoft Word renders the PDF like this, which is what the original .PNG looks like. I even opened the same image in Photoshop and used the eye dropper tool to check the colour.

Hotel clothes washers are a scam :\
Shit... While I was moving my stuff to my dorm, my monitor slid down and kept constant pressure against a corner of furniture on the screen itself. Now a massive streak of discoloration is visible, especially at darker colors and certain angles.
Sooooooo
I bought 10 used 6 cell batteries on ebay, and Im about halfway through tearing all the 18650 cells out of them. I left the packs intact with the battery management board on one of them. What Im wondering is, is there some sort of standard pinout for where these connect to the laptop? I need to know how many volts to put to which pin to make it charge. Anybody know where/how to find this?

The self service coin one or the full service one, or both?
Coin op

Are you trying to build your own laptop battery?
So I had heard of Rockstor, but turns out it's initially free with paid update subscriptions. Seems to be a Linux/BtrFS equivalent of FreeNAS.
Going to give it a try vs just straight Ubuntu.
This is surreal. I'm at Hot Chips 28, in the Flint Centre, right now. I feel like a tech journalist except not shitty.
Hotel clothes washers are a scam :\
They exist for your convenience, not necessarily there to be cheap.
A lot of 5 star hotels I've stayed at charges by per article. Washing a t-shirt costs $25, but they'll do a really damn good job washing it for you if you need it done asap.
I gave Rockstor a try. I really want to keep trying it, but it just seems so fucking buggy it's incredible. And it pesters you all the time to set it to the stable update subscription, which is only through paying for support.
I clicked on the Software Updates button and it says it's own clock system doesn't match the format in the system so it fails to check updates. Like this is merely after I install and make a user account. I haven't done anything yet and it's breaking. maybe it's a VM issue but their documentation says it works fine in lots of VM options.
That was just one example, but turning on Samba service gives an error about failing to run a command, same with NFS. Making a new share shows a config file error. making a new pool caused a system error. It's everywhere. This is also my third install.
