I'll throw toonies at you.
GJ Microsoft.
Something weird is keeping me from activating Windows so I can keep installing updates. I manage to dig up their support phone number (somehow the "activate by phone" button didn't exist and forcing it to manually go to that page wouldn't let me change the country from "Afghanistan").
The automated dialog thing didn't help, because I couldn't get to the screen it wanted me to be on.
The tier one representative took my activation number, then said "yeah, there's something wrong with this" and transferred me to tier two.
Tier two's answering machine said they are closed, and to call back tomorrow.
I'm thinking of trying to reinstall AGAIN just so I can get this damn thing working tonight.

You should just get a Mac
Clearly you just need a genius to take it to.
Did you not link it to a Microsoft account? I don't need my key to validate the install anymore, I just log in to my @live account and its good to go.
just download windows 10 iso from microsoft and skip activation during install and then install all the updates windows 10 has and then activate it with your windows 8 key
.
I did that with both of my keys and my two Microsoft accounts, only worked for one of them.

Well, about 70% of my games library doesn't run on OS X. Seems like a pretty solid reason to dual-boot. Not to mention this particular Mac is no longer supported by OS X as of 10.7.
(It's a moderately-upgraded Mac Pro; it can actually handle gaming, unlike most Macs. Four cores worth of Xeons, a 6870, a bit under 6GB of RAM and an SSD to boot from.)
I'm just kidding about that
I dualboot Windows and OS X on my macbook, and I almost never use OS X lol

Thats how pros do it :v:
I have never seen a more convoluted way to get Windows 7 to install on a system, then getting it to install on a toughbook from 2006.
It's possible according to the internet, but if you don't install the drivers in one very specific order you're fucked.

But that requires relighting the entire set and was probably too much work for them to bother.

if it were mine and I needed enterprise support I would probably just install red hat or suse or something. you're not going to be playing games on a toughbook anyway and linux is great for office applications.
Toughbooks are a bitch to get installs working on.
I got a CF-27 hidden away somewhere because it needs an install of Windows 2000 but you can't DO the install of Windows 2000 because shithead swiped the CD drive module and a replacement is $75.
Instead I gotta exploit the fact laptop IDE controllers DO support master/slave modes and use a series of IDE adapters to break out to a regular ATA cable so I can attach a regular CD drive, then another adapter so I can also attach the laptop's hard drive. I've done it once before yeeears ago but it was a pain in the dick.

Modern toughbooks are even worse becase you need a USB CD drive.
So I've been trying different team collab tools and I've come to the point where I'm like.. I should just make my own. Each and every one of them has something annoying about it and what I want seems to be hard to find.

WHY IS THIS HEADSET ON BACKWARDS
AAAAAAAAAA
I had a few of those headsets
After telling her how about 10 or so times, my mother finally worked out how to get a movie playing on the Nexus player, I'm so proud of her.
My ISP (using phone line) recently made some changes which allows me to change my plan to "whatever the copper can handle" up to 100 Mbps. It is even $7.5 cheaper than what I currently have.
There is however a catch. The guaranteed minimum speed is only 5/0.5 Mbps down.
My current connection is up to 50/10 Mbps and guaranteed to be minimum 40/4 Mbps.
So I don't really know if this is a good deal or not. In the 1 year I have been with this ISP I have never seen my connection dip below 50/10 so it seems the copper can easily more.
However, I really like to be able to blame them IF the connection dips below 40/4...
tlr:
Change internet plan to: Up to 100/100 Mbps with guaranteed minimum of 5/0.5 Mbps for $30 a month.
Or:
Stay on current plan where I get up to 50/10 Mbps with guaranteed minimum of 40/4 Mbps for $37.5 a month.
Ask if you can get a better gurantee, at least on up.
Know one of your neighbors who plans on switching to that? Let them switch first and see how it turns out.

Problem with these "as much as can go through" deals is that only after many people adopt it, it gets really slow.

Wait a sec, don't we all wear like that?
