God damn it Android. I have unlimited 4G at work, and dial up tier WiFi at my hotel. But I guess I have to manually update my apps on 4G so they don't destroy what little bandwidth I have on WiFi.
I find Verizon's voice quality to be utter trash. 6 years ago my Nokia E63 could call my landline with Unicell (so no 3G support at all, EDGE only) and music would be pretty damn clear. On Verizon, I'd be lucky to make out the words. I can barely make out words in conversations as it is. And that's with great 4G reception, but Verizon is still stuck in 1998 and is still using 2G voice in non-VoLTE markets. I'm willing to move to AT&T for that reason alone so I have GSM voice quality again and spend less than 50% of conversations asking people to repeat that.
I don't know what you're talking about, I've been on Verizon for years and aside from low-signal areas I've never had an issue with the clarity of phone calls.
I don't know what you're talking about, I've been on Verizon for years and aside from low-signal areas I've never had an issue with the clarity of phone calls.
I never thought it was bad until I switched to AT&T in the spring.
I never thought it was bad until I switched to AT&T in the spring.
Maybe it's regional, I know my friends on Sprint complain about it. But AT&T and Verizon seem fine in Denver.
To whom it may concern, Pursuant to Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC ("SIE") corporate policy, the below IP addresses were blacklisted from using our services because SNEI detected activity that is abusive to our network services. In our determination, the abusive activity was not related to velocity or volume, but matched the specific patterns of known abuse of our publicly available services. This abuse may be the result of a computer on your network that has been compromised and is participating in a botnet abuse of our services. The following table of IP addresses, dates and times should help you correlate the origin of the abusive activity. The time stamps are approximate from our logs. The actual timing of the events depend on the signature matched. It is very likely to have occurred both before, during and following the times listed. Approximate Time Range (UTC), IP Address, Reason 2016-08-23 10:41 ~ 2016-08-23 11:11 (UTC), 66.11.122.88, Account Takeover Attempts It is most likely the attack traffic is directed at one of the following endpoints: account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com auth.np.ac.playstation.net auth.api.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com auth.api.np.ac.playstation.net These endpoints on our network are resolved by Geo DNS, so the IP addresses they resolve to will depend on the originating IP address. The destination port will be TCP 443. Please take the necessary measures to correct the malicious activity from the above-listed IP addresses as soon as possible to avoid any further disruptions. If we were to remove any of these IP addresses from the blacklist and subsequent abusive activity is detected, the IP address will be promptly blacklisted again. We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. If you require assistance or additional information please contact snei-noc-abuse@am.sony.com and include the IP address in question.
Maybe it's regional, I know my friends on Sprint complain about it. But AT&T and Verizon seem fine in Denver.
Its bad in the midwest at least. I've used Androids, iPhones, feature phones, and such and they all sound equally bad so its definitely the network. It just sounds like syllables just blend together and often have a distinct "bbrrrrrt" trailing sound. If anyone uses speakerphone it might as well be gibberish as the compression can't deal with the echo off walls. Make a call through Google Voice to a non-Verizon number? Sounds totally fine, at least landline quality. And like I mentioned earlier, when we switched from Unicel (a now defunct GSM cell company) to Verizon there was a noticeable drop in quality.
Well, one thing I know for sure is Verizon's data sucks. They have great coverage, yeah, but half the time pages just won't load. With full bars of 4G.
I live in the suburban greater LA area in a city with a population of nearly 200,000 and I still only get like two fucking bars with AT&T. the best available internet service in my area is also only 60/4
I typically get pretty strong LTE coverage in the Toronto area. I mean it is the largest city in Toronto with millions living in the surrounding area so it makes sense for Rogers to throw money on towers and service here. Even the rural areas can get LTE which feels weird because the Internet is faster in a forest in the middle of nowhere vs. my own home. At my home alone, I can get full bars of LTE which is also surprising since LTE's wall penetration is shit. Just did a speedtest and it's 40/35 at home. Best I ever tested was 125/20 in a mall almost 2 years ago. Best internet service in my area seems to be from Rogers, my current ISP, Bell, seems to only have 50/10 for my location. I can probably get gigabit because there's businesses nearby that obviously use gigabit. Just gotta dig my own trench. The two big carriers, Rogers and Bell, launched VoLTE in select areas which only works for select phones. Otherwise, you get 3G when you get a phone call. The worst call quality I've ever had was getting a call from someone using Wind Mobile, a discount carrier that only has HSPA+ coverage. It's like T-Mobile but much worse in terms of service coverage and data speeds, but it does have roaming options so you can roam anywhere. Historically it has been terrible, especially in downtown Toronto, but for the much lower price, it is a worthy trade-off for the millions of subscribers they currently have.
Well, one thing I know for sure is Verizon's data sucks. They have great coverage, yeah, but half the time pages just won't load. With full bars of 4G.
That's the ironic part, as far as I can tell, 4G coverage is fine. :v: Usually get at least 2 mbps down even in fuck nowhere's ville on the local tower 7 miles away. Its enough to shitpost on Facepunch/reddit and Google Music so I can't complain. Its just voice calls that are absolutely atrocious. But now that AT&T is actually competitive out here, I might be willing to give them a try.
I have auditory dyslexia
Never heard of this before (no pun intended), sometimes I can't understand people even when I feel like I should. And I hate making people repeat themselves.
Never heard of this before (no pun intended), sometimes I can't understand people even when I feel like I should. And I hate making people repeat themselves.
In my case, I have a pretty fun hearing loss.
Does anyone know where in the UK I can find a 16.5V 2A laptop power supply? Or something close enough? I have a Zenith Data Systems laptop I want to get running again and I don't have a power supply and it's like £40 to get one on eBay from the US.
Ever sit and wait for your student loans to come in then realize you never applied for financial aid? Yeah, this is gonna be a rough tuition payment this semester.
I don't know what is scarier, a phone interview or a in-person interview.
Phone interview made it easier to hide my utter shock when my new boss told me what I'd be making over the phone. Wasn't much, just you know, 40% higher than I've ever made in my life.

Fuckkk the room I really liked in Denver is no longer available due to a family emergency. Time to keep looking.
11 drives from the same batch
im not gonna make the high bitrate ____ _____ joke again but since its pretty much all that I'm not terribly concerned with 99.9999% reliability, and raidz2 is good enough for me and I have 2 or 3 spare drives ready to go in [sp]dinux listros[/sp]
I mean its just statistically speaking you're far more likely to lose all your data in a massive unrecoverable RAID failure since more are likely to fail at once.
I mean its just statistically speaking you're far more likely to lose all your data in a massive unrecoverable RAID failure since more are likely to fail at once.
I think these can last a year or two though. That's about my time frame when I'm going to upgrade all 22 to 8TBs and sell the 4's, and I'll batch it out a little more then.
Well yeah, I mean reds are either good for 5 minutes or 5 years.
Well yeah, I mean reds are either good for 5 minutes or 5 years.
they'll get a proper burn in test when they arrive for sure
