I moved my taskbar to the left hand side of my main monitor at work and one of my coworkers freaked out like "WOAH DUDE HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!"
Tell him about the rotate option in his GPU config.
Then when everything is sideways, act confused and huff and puff, and finally say, well it works on my machine.
Having a 1280x1024 monitor be physically taller than my main 1920x1080 monitor is the most annoying thing ever. But it does go up to 77 Hz so I can have really smooth word processing.
Anyone ever try to install a GPU in the PCIe slot of a Core 2 Duo Mac Mini? I've seen a couple people use it for a SATA controller, so it doesn't seem to be locked to the airport card only.

Don't bother. Very few computers supports GPUs using these kind of things.

We like to rotate one monitor and not the other here to mess with people when they leave their computers unlocked.

Yeah you're probably right. I guess I don't -need- gpu acceleration since I'm just using this for coding. It'd be interesting to see if a GPU could work using that slot tho.

Try it, because science.
Worst that will happen is you open a black hole and we all cease to exist.
Crazy how underperforming my 6gbps marvell ports are. I'm moving some big sequential files from my 850 Evo I got last year on my marvel chip over to my Corsair Neutron SSD on my Intel 6gbps. 850 EVo is much newer and newer tech. My Neutron is from fucking 2012.
Task Manager shows drive activity time, which in my experience and research also shows controller load not just the drive, showed the 850 Evo at 99% usage at 300MB/s, and my Neutron was at like 20% writing at 300MB/s. Like the 850 was choking at the controller.
Can't wait to move to x99 where I can move to more intel ports.
I noticed that Assetto Corsa is apparently released on consoles, so I figured I'd look at some reviews, to see how the console gamers are handling it.
Away from the graphical presentation, however, Assetto Corsa also disappoints. This game is hard. Really hard. It's the kind of game that punishes you so severely that mistiming a corner by even a split second is enough to wreck an entire championship weekend – and this applies even to the slower starting cars which seem to take an age to come to a stop.

He's complaining that a realistic racing game, is realistic.
... Did he not realize what the fuck he's playing?

Ain't those using a mobile CPU?
Although if OSX supports multiple GPU's then I don't see the problem, it'll probably only show the boot and maybe also login screen on the built-in GPU though.
I actually tried something similar with a Intel Atom Mini-ITX board, worked fine, but the cpu was a obvious bottleneck instead of the single PCI-e lane.
Also, isn't it Nvidia that has some sort of "compressions" for PCI-e data so they're less bottlenecked in such cases?

Other way around actually :v: Unless the device's firmware supports it, the firmware on those things won't show anything until the OS X kernel takes over (assuming it actually supports the GPU in question)

Knew I made a word salad in some regards.
Is the integrated GPU in the i7 6700k capable of running multiple monitors and do any work at all?
Buddy of mine is getting a new computer for making music on, and throwing $150+ on a gpu that's not even going to be used feels like a waste.
IGPUs have been capable of handling multiple monitors for years, particularly if you aren't doing much of anything 3D. Some motherboards get bitchy with dual monitor if they support it, and few support triple monitors, but the IGPU won't care.
If there's any doubt about it, you can honestly craigslist an old GPU, or whatever your regional equivalent to craigslist is.

As long as the motherboard has the video outputs for dual monitors, and the support for it, it will be fine. Even laptop iGPUs can handle dual monitors these days.

That was pretty much how dialogue in Fallout 3 worked most of the time anyway, the only real difference is what the menu looks like. Beth's kinda crap at writing.
Oh man, I remember the pain of trying to play StarCraft online with America Online. I made so many people mad in Big Game Hunters custom games.
