Was moving some data over to the server via ramdisk. I get like 950~Mbps. Though it's only going through my switch, but still. Didn't expect that kind of near perfect rate.
He replied to my comment. Senpai noticed me.
http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/components/motherboards/amd/auction-1099766940.htm
What's confusing about it?
So ffmpeg can barely load the server. With all threads active it just ignores one CPU, so in effect the server at encoding 4k video is slower than my 3770k... Even with 16 threads it sits at like 15% CPU on those threads. Also since it has no GPU, it can't use OBS since OBS composites on the GPU. Other issue is, to stream it needs the inputs. I could put in my HD60 Pro but I'd need to look into how to manage my audio, since it needs to be fed my voice and any game audio... but I also need to hear said audio to play. For that I'd probably need a dual track mixer. So I could send game audio to the server, while being able to hear it, and also no one else hearing it. This just got much more complicated.
Try handbrake. I know that loves to eat up all my cores, so it might be a better test. You should be able to patch around with your yamaha to get all the audio to go where you want though; normally that's pretty easy.
Handbrake is a frontend for ffmpeg and x264. So I don't imagine it'd behave differently. My MG10XU isn't advanced enough to allow simple patching for something like this though. Like I could use the dedicated Monitor outputs and send that to the server which is my voice, but I couldn't send system audio through it to the server unless I turned on the USB input and routed it to the stereo mix, in which case anyone on VOIP with me would hear themselves. [editline]11th June 2016[/editline] Like I know it's doable or else this wouldn't be possible, I just don't think I can do it on my current audio setup.
Just put your 580's in the 720.
Don't fit, I tried. I put my old 7800 GT in there :p but I doubt it will function right. [editline]11th June 2016[/editline] So Looks like I can just use virtual audio cables to route the audio into the HDMI out sent to the other computer.
Virtual audio cables are great but there's a chance you'll run into latency issues if you're sending your mic to multiple places. It might not be noticeable, but obviously test it out and see.
Well I'm definitely not going to be using "Virtual Audio Cables" as those are complete shit. The free ones from Banana Audio are infinitely better.
So I need some sort of newer GPU for OBS to work. 7800 GT did finally function, but it's before stream processors and cuda cores or OpenCL for that matter. Other thing is ffmpeg just can't utilize it quite well enough, set to all cores it uses like 20-25% of my CPU and encodes at like 55fps at 1080p. CPUs are downclocked to 1.1ghz. If I set it to use only one CPU it hits like 30% usage and fps goes down maybe by 1%. Using libx264. Edit: even if I have it encode 720p or 480p video it can't go over 60~. Which is annoying. I'll feed it 4k and it just will go slow and run on slower clock speeds. Edit2: So in my testing, evenif I wanted to stream 720p60 I couldn't...
Can you use something other than ffmpeg?
I feel bad leaving my PC on overnight for something to download, feels like a massive waste of energy.
I feel bad leaving my PC on overnight for something to download, feels like a massive waste of energy.
I leave my PC to render stuff for weeks
I leave my PC to render stuff for weeks
Well your machine isn't mostly idle though is it? My PC still sucks up quite a bit of power in comparison for a relatively small job.
So, apparently I'm going to Long Beach CA in a couple months...! Wanna make the most out of it by upgrading most of my tech and visiting friends living nearby.
I feel bad leaving my PC on overnight for something to download, feels like a massive waste of energy.
Lifting my desktop on top of my desk made me realize how goddamn loud and hot it is. Now I turn it off and watch videos on my Wii instead.
Well your machine isn't mostly idle though is it? My PC still sucks up quite a bit of power in comparison for a relatively small job.
Nah, it's running at 100% CPU usage all the time while rendering :v:
I'm getting frustrated with this whole server thing. Wish I had a need for it outside of encoding/streaming. Even rendering is complicated because I use CC and have no more free activations available right now. I'd have to take it off my home machine or my work machine to use it. Even with my GTX580 I managed to fit inside the case, neither 2012 R2 or W10 let me install drivers for it to test OBS, to see if I can even use it for streaming I'd need another Dx11 GPU. So I'd have to go buy even a cheap one like a 750 Ti or something.
That was my workaround which I've managed to do before... which still didn't work. Used those drivers and it still doesn't show up. Eventually the "unknown display adapter" just stopped appearing in Device manager. So I just took out the card and packed it up.
So I migrated my boot partition to a new 128GB SSD with some management software and I ran Defraggler on the new cloned partition since my old HDD has some serious fragmentation issue [t]http://i.imgur.com/yeop4M7.png[/t] Is it safe to defrag the boot partition on the SSD? I keep hearing you should never defrag SSD

Don't you love it when people tell you that they got a new samsung mobile when they're over at your place, and then 2 weeks later you realize your charger is gone? I usually have mine on a powered USB hub for easy access, so I didn't notice until I needed the charger.

In the space of 3 months, my sister managed to destroy every single micro usb cable in the house except mine, because she'd get the cheapest cable possible, treat it like shit, then blame her Note 4 when it wouldn't charge properly (half the time because it was in a 0.5A iPod charger) When my charger finally died after years of use, I spent a decent amount getting a nice braided cable for it. The next fucking day she mentions how great this new cord she found is [editline]13th June 2016[/editline] Speaking of, are there any good cables that are cheap enough to justify grabbing a pile of, just because I've only got a single working one

I like these ones the best - they're a little pricier (but still only $3 for 6ft), but they last for-fucking-ever in my experience. http://www.monoprice.com/mobile/product/details/9762?maincategoryid=103&categoryid=10303&subcategoryid=1030307&cpncd= These ones are also good and only half the cost, but didn't last me as long. You could easily buy them in bulk tho. http://www.monoprice.com/mobile/product/details/5458?maincategoryid=103&categoryid=10303&subcategoryid=1030307&cpncd= That said, they're cheaper for me personally because I live right next to a monoprice warehouse that lets me do free pick-up, so I dont have to pay for shipping :v:

Oh, I should've checked your flagdog. yeah I dunno glhf I've heard nothing but horror stories about buying anything tech related in Australia :v:
convince a relative in the united states to buy them for you and on their next trip to australia bring them
Use eBay instead of Amazon, you'll probably find something decent. Amazon is useless when it comes to shipping and shipping information.
