Yeah, I have good luck with Netgear stuff though so I'll probably pick up a Netgear for them. At least AC1200 too so they're well futureproofed, they probably wouldn't need much more.

That's a box that is going to stay blank as long as I live

ASUS is the way to go IMO if you're unfortunately needing a consumer router. I've been messing with some engenius routers lately though and they're alright.

Pretty much. No piece of consumer networking equipment is in my house and it will stay that way.
[editline]24th June 2016[/editline]
Wired routers, access points, managed switches are the only way to go.

I don't think I've gone on enough ASUS hate tirades recently, I have never had a problem-free product made by ASUS.
I am thinking about that Securifi Almond for my grandparents if only because they should be able to figure that out if anything goes wrong, but I don't feel comfortable buying a router that does not come equipped with 802.11ac in 2016.
Oh by the way protocol, you live in colorado or somewhere like that, right?

Unfortunately. Live in Englewood, 'burb of Denver.
Why unfortunately? I'm pretty sure at this point I'm moving to Denver in August.

Don't mean to threadshit but the whole thread's already shit.

Nahhhh, I'm joking, we have legal weed, everyone's chill here. Just watch out for some of the homeless on 16th street mall, they're getting really aggressive:

Not overly worried about the homeless. I've lived a good part of my life in the Detroit and Cleveland area :v:

I'm waiting for amiga to come back online. The download kept failing for me so he downloaded it and dropped it in a folder for me, only he didn't set my permissions so I can't download it yet. :v:
I have however found a spare 40gb hard drive, so we should otherwise be all ready, unless I decide to finish scanning my film in which case it might be another two months or so.

Any time Pentium talks about old computers I'm reminded of the Mac SE/30 sealed in my closet I'm neglecting :(
I need to get that SD2SCSI adapter and fix it up. Hard for me to justify dumping $60 on something I have no practical use for, though.

It's a bit of an addiction really.
What's the toughest toughbook?
One in the back survived a fall out of my 3rd-floor apartment into a tree. Still works great, if you can call XP with 512mb of ram OK

CF18 is my personal favorite. Doesn't weight ten pounds like the bigger ones

One backpedal doesn't fix a plethora of errors.
Ok so this 10 year old HP SSF PC I have still works, which is good because now I can use it to run hardware that only has XP drivers. Those old HP Small form factor pcs are pretty good for what you get. They come with a Windows licence and some are as a low as $50 for something that could still make a good Linux box. They're perfect for a grandparent and the value is pretty good as they're pretty much the same price as a cheap CPU, but you get an entire PC with equivalent CPU performance.
I apologise for this having nothing to do with the current conversation.
The ones that can fit low profile expansion cards are great routers too.
i went to a microsoft store yesterday
they had a vive demo, the painting one is so fucking cool, sadly it ended before i could finish my hedgehog
also i crashed the windows phone continuum demo
