The Optimus Maximus (http://www.artlebedev.com/everything/optimus/maximus/) has been around for a while but I don't know if it's mechanical
it's not
Mechanical LCD keys sounds like a disaster awaiting.
Mechanical LCD keys sounds like a disaster awaiting.
As if having LCDs for keys wouldn't be expensive enough.
http://piodesign.org/ Holy shit, this is the biggest thing since the Rift was announced. It's a mechanical keyboard with transparent caps and an LCD underneath, so keys can be given context specific layouts
That's such an ugly keyboard.

This keyboard is literally the opposite of all three.

I can't see the benefit of having I/O on the top. Just going to look ugly as fuck with cables shooting out the top all over the place instead of just going behind the desk where you can't see how fucked it is.
There's a cover on top that routes them back to the rear, would make it really easy to plug/unplug shit then

Try looking up angled cables, and cable management. One good benefit is the hot airflow. It only goes up (depending on the case).
There's a cover on top that routes them back to the rear, would make it really easy to plug/unplug shit then
Ah, I thought they would just come out the top and over the sides. Not sure how I didn't notice the huge cut out.
And for an added bonus, is as ugly as sin.
And on top of all that, it's going to be expensive as fuck. If there was any chance it was going to be even reasonably priced, they'd be screaming about it on their website instead of refusing to mention it.

Isn't it like $1,000 flat?

[editline]28th June 2016[/editline] What are these types of cases even called, assuming they have a name?
Silverstone is the only case manufacturer I've seen doing this, and they have no more than 3 designs following that idea. I have no idea what its called, and they don't seem to have a name for it either. I want it to catch on, it makes SOO much more sense than the standard ATX layout.

So I need to get better wifi coverage after moving into a new apartment. My current router is an Apple Airport Express, and while signal is great in my room, it drops when I move over to the living room, from ~60Mbps to 2-4Mbps. It's possible for me to set up a wifi extender right outside my room where the signal is great and the extender has a sightline to the living room so this might be good? However, I want to be able to use something like the Nvidia Shield to stream PC games over there so an extender probably wouldn't do the trick for me. I've been looking at powerline adapters, but I'm afraid to put money into them after seeing very mixed results. Still, I'm leaning towards getting a new router with a higher power radio output and then powerline adapters if the new router doesn't do the trick for game streaming. Do any of you networky people have any suggestions?
After months I finally found and solved the framerate issue. I wish I knew back then that all I needed to do was disable core parking in the registry. Five minutes of work to solve months of headaches, this is one of those moments where I feel both smart and dumb.... But happy. [editline]27th June 2016[/editline] And it somehow went back to normal. I hate everything.
The fucking thing REPARKS THE CORES BY ITSELF. That's why everything is fine and dandy for a minute and then the fps spikes start to happen again. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a Windows 10 thing.

I have some spare Compaq parts. I kinda wonder if I should do a "how not to build a computer" video. Gimme some ideas for stuff to do wrong. I already know I should spread thermal paste with my fingers.

Wonder how this stacks up against the 970. I've been wanting to switch my 970 to a reference cooler card, since the cooler on mine doesn't bode well for the tight quarters of mini ITX, and nobody makes an aftermarket blower cooler. Then again my GPU temps peak at like 80 so I'm probably fine.

These are all things I've actually seen done.

Torque down some screws way too hard and crack the PCB. Put a 3.5" floppy drive in a modern computer, treat it like a completely obvious thing. Maybe make fun of Apple getting rid of such an obviously necessary component. Watercooled power supply. Instead of LED strips use colored christmas tree lights, "cuz they're cheaper".

Now Compaq doesn't give specs for this, so I'm just gonna guess a mild twelve foot-pounds of torque to start with."
How do you stop cpu cores from re-parking by themselves?
Instead of screws, mount everything with pop rivets
Hot glue or bust [editline]28th June 2016[/editline]
partition the hard drive 20 times for "reasons".
Partition it because you want to have a drive for each type of file (photos, videos, games, etc.)
