Kaspersky is a good anti virus solution, right? I never really download shady shit but figured that protection is good to have anyway and I couldn't really think of any anti viruses except for Kaspersky, so I bought that a few months ago. always heard good things about its detection ratio. coupled it up with Malwarebytes Premium as well. weird to think I've spent 50$ on anti virus huh.

I get along fine with the built-in antivirus on Windows. I use that and Microsoft EMET with my browser.

I just had to SSH into a server to SSH into the reverse-SSH-tunnelled SSH server of an office NAS to create a reverse SSH tunnel between server and a Windows box via the NAS and create a forward SSH tunnel on my local box to the reverse-SSH-to-Windows-box tunnel (which I can't get to listen on 0.0.0.0 on the server) so I could RDP over this construction. #CarrierGradeNATLyfe

Thank god for Amazon $3.99 one day shipping. The pump for my watercooling died. [editline]10th July 2016[/editline] Also reposting from Android because the time is coming.
So I'm heading over to Europe next month, basically just flying into Oslo and wandering south until I hit Germany at my leisure. Figured for my phone I could just route all my normal calls through google voice and pick up a local simcard for data/local calls. Any suggestions on a carrier to grab one from?
Found it guys: [t]http://i.imgur.com/5tusfjk.png[/t]

Hmm, I'm pretty tempted to try and get in on this... https://www.reddit.com/r/homelab/comments/4s5i2l/happy_710_perfect_time_for_a_great_deal_on_an_r710/
this is why I only eat birdseed so I can spend money on good server deals when they pop up
Eh, for now I'm happy with my $200/yr dedicated server rental. Probably better connections in a datacenter than my local network anyway. :v:

My grandfather in his 70s figured out how to use the right click start menu in Windows 10. I noticed it as that's how he shuts down. He figured that out when a nice chunk of computer literates don't even know it exists. Yet, in that same session, I had to teach him how to use ctrl click to select multiple items. He never learned that (or forgot) in the past 2 decades of using Windows. Bizarre.
So I'm trying to use a drawing tablet as a input pointing device. Well it's interesting. It just feels weird on dual monitors. Left and right is more sensitive than up and down.

I didn't know cron mailed output and ended up with 140 MiB of Moodle logs.
I installed the Wacom drivers for it (because I knew it would be a really annoying to drag from one side of my dual monitors, to the next) which is why the movement sensitivities are weird like that. I could have it set up for just one monitor or a region tho. I wanted to give it a try to see if video editing is any better with a drawing tablet. I've seen some video editors use it and was pretty curious on the usage. I currently use the Logitech G13 and G700s for editing and it's pretty awesome. I still end up going back to my keyboard because all of the buttons are there already, it's just a bit hard to press the modifiers when you're hand is near JKL. Also I like using the G700s for the macro buttons I've set up. Next thing to try for video editing: driving game step petals.. for.. JKL on the keyboard! Oh god..
So on the topic of tablets, for some reason windows 7 will only activate its tablet PC features for digitizers and not standard touchscreens, meaning that even though my toughbook has a touchscreen and a tablet mode I have no way to right click without flipping the thing open to physically click the RMB. Of course they wouldn't just add a button to manually enable or disable the tablet PC stuff; why would the user want the ability to do that ever?
