Is it just me, or did YouTube: 1) Change their UI again 2) It sucks ?
How about we play 'post the shittiest GPU you have'. Here's an NVIDIA P73 (or MS-8878). I've got version 130, whatever that means. [t]http://i.imgur.com/5VEZnSX.png[/t] With this beaut you get 64MB of DDR-SD RAM, a modern VGA output and an S-Video connector so you'll always be able to connect to anything! I pulled this piece of crap out of an ancient family PC (using a Pentium 4 processor) which was only very recently upgraded. Good riddance to that.
Worst GPU I have is an ATI Rage Pro IIC. [t]http://old.vgamuseum.info/images/stories/palcal/ati/rage2cagpati.jpg[/t] Whopping 2 MB of SD RAM, AGP 1.0 and VGA only. I actually have two, from two Compaq 6000 Deskpros.

q: i've got a 32gb kit of ram, with at least one stick dead (4x8gb) if it's just one stick, can i use it as a 24gb setup or should i just not bother since it's not a power of 2

My motherboard is picky about everything and will not work with matching RAM sticks, I have to have one of them with a lower speed and overclock it for my machine to boot. Also if I touch some settings (like fan speed) it will refuse to even POST until I reset CMOS. This motherboard is fantastic.
How about we play 'post the shittiest GPU you have'.
I'm going to be honest and say the worst (modern) video card I've ever used was the FX 5200. I don't know how many people bought them because they had a lot of VRAM and they were AGP but their performance was so absolutely shit it wasn't funny. Mine ended up burning itself out one day while struggling to run HL2 on Wine. I ended up replacing the whole machine with some fire damaged Pentium D PCI express shitbox.
How about worst as in reliability? NVS 140m or GeForce 9400m. Both rather shit at functioning. [editline]13th July 2016[/editline]
um what
Don't they come preapplied?

Some games would only play along with X driver version while others with Y driver version. All that hassle just to play Vice City and HL1...

just been a curiosity of mine but why did intel go from triple channel in 1366 to dual channel onwards (with the exception of 2011 quad)
just been a curiosity of mine but why did intel go from triple channel in 1366 to dual channel onwards (with the exception of 2011 quad)
1366's successor was 2011. They increased it. 1156 (dual channel) is to 1366 (triple channel) as 1150 (dual channel) is to 2011-3 (quad channel) 1366 isn't a consumer chipset.
I received my Asus Strix 1080. It's glorious.
Here's a question... How do you politely inform a coworker that in order to save the changes they make to something, that they have to actually go and click the "Save" button?
close the program when they're not looking
Somewhat impressed with powerline adapters. Renting an early 1900s house, no way I was going to be able to run ethernet. Some gigabit adapters happily get a link speed of about 400Mbps which is on the upper end of what I've seen other people reporting, the latency is a little high, but it beats WiFi in a 4 story house. Considering the age of the wiring here too, not bad. Only get 100Mbps internet anyway and won't be doing anything high bandwidth between the APs.
It's working fine for me at 150% for my 4k display, for games I just disable DPI scaling, only terribly programmed things like Steam have issues with it
150% is way too tiny on a 15 inch 4K display, it's only really good when you have a large display. The default for Windows 10 is 250% scaling on that little 4K display.
-Snip- TL;DR: His article isn't great, but he has few valid points, somewhere in there. Actually I changed my mind, he has a few good points, stuff which I noticed myself and things which did bug me a little bit, such as the kinda crappy manuals, even if his buying choices aren't the greatest. I don't know, I mean if it was up to me I would totally try to adress some of these issues, even if the article might not be the greatest. This argument makes no sense though. You are telling people to get ripped off, they might as well buy a pre-built from their local store. [t]http://i.imgur.com/e8Nrx0g.png[/t] Also jeez, does this really happen that often? [t]http://i.imgur.com/KVK5iQ9.png[/t] I've read that some people get cut while they install the IO Shield but I never had any trouble with it, I don't know. I recently built a PC for the first time and while the manuals sucked I still managed to not mess up anything, I was really happy when everything booted up on my first try, just made sure everything was plugged in properly, among other things. I'm the ultra-careful, kinda paranoid, quadruple check anything I'm not sure about type of person though, that probably helped a bit.

Because that's what they advertised as a "gaming" card back then and put in their PCs for a huge markup. We had one too.

Well this is slightly annoying, the stuff I wanted to buy from Amazon yesterday was "not available" during the Prime Day sale for the last few hours of the sale, and now it is in stock as if nothing happened. Too bad there is no more 20% discount for Amazon Prime users (Canada thing) anymore.
look at this fucking garbage lol https://archive.is/5glYU
Seriously, what a fucking retard.
The process of physically building a PC is filled with little frustrations like this, and mistakes can be costly and time consuming. I have big, dumb, sausage fingers, so mounting the motherboard into the case, and screwing in nine (!) tiny screws to keep it in place in a cramped space, in weird angles, where dropping the screwdriver can easily break something expensive—it's just not what I'd call "consumer-friendly."
"tiny" = Standard size? Why do these whiny, inept people get writer jobs?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/dXyMFd5.jpg[/t] Lightning speed?
Haha, I posted that! Check the username on /r/techsupportgore. I think that was plugged into a Motorola PTP300. Interestingly enough, once we removed the lightning arrestor on the tower and in the cabinet, then reterminated the cable top and bottom, the radio worked perfectly fine. The Cisco 3750 and the Motorola PMP100 900MHz AP were fried, though at least we didn't have to replace or realign any links that day. Cambium/Motorola stuff isn't always the fastest out there, but it can take a beating.
Lightning strikes are pretty devastating for tower sites. Even if you protect all your lines with polyphasers and arrestors, everything on the non-protected side is fucked. A tower site near us had over $10000 of antennas and hardline almost literally vaporized by a direct strike. Shit's not fun.

The fiberglass casing splintered everywhere, what was left was peeled open like a banana. I wish I could have had a look at the radio before it was tossed. [t]http://i.imgur.com/r9F5h8q.jpg[/t]
