Real neckbeards spoof their GPS coordinates using an android emulator on their PC.
And by that point it doesn't even feel worth it anymore.
I don't think I'm gonna buy a 1070, even for the vive. I just don't use graphics intensive stuff often enough to to warrant that cost
If you do upgrade, just keep it and use it as a dedicated physx card.
Cause fuck your electric bill, time for gaemun.

taking care of a mac is a matter of just paying for AppleCare and bringing it into the store every now and then when it gets wonky
My roommate's 4-year-old MBP had the occasional few things wrong with it but whenever it did, he just brought it into the local Apple store and they got it up and working within the day
I can't even fucking find any semblance of replacement parts for my 2 year old acer anymore
Well yeah. It's an acer. They are plastic shitheaps. That's not a great comparison.
You can get spare parts for a lenovo for years after the fact, and if you pay for the extended warranties it's a very similar experience to just having a mac at 30-40% of the price.

Unless you delete your Google account from Android after you launch the game, you're going to crash when you try to catch something.

My experience with Acers is that the plastic creaks, but otherwise good machines for the price.
HP on the other hand... although they also have lots of spare parts available.
Also with Thinkpads it's generally advised to stay with the T series.

The business grade hps are actually surprisingly non shit.
The consumer versions? Just buy one of these instead. It's cheaper, does the same thing, and has a lifetime warranty.

HP Elite books are pretty dam good, solid machines. Got a thrid gen i7 13" elitebook; a bloody quadcore in a 13" is great.
(Talking about all the previous gen ones that retailed around £900 for an i3, you can get third gen i5 ones on ebay for about £130)

for being plastic shitheaps with the only place to acquire replacement parts being aliexpress, they're pretty wonderful though
no other company does dedicated graphics on a budget with decent IPS screens as well

that's possible? i thought the cards had to be the same model
my electricity is free, but i don't play games :v:
:snip: I thought you guys were interested in that sort of thing
FYI you'll get banned after the launch stuff is done with. They're mostly only handing out temporary bans right now AFAIK.
Niantic is pretty decent at noticing GPS spoofing nowadays, and it's trivial to check that you're running in an emulator.
Why even waste your time playing if you're not actually playing
I don't play Pokemon but I assume any of the 3DS ones are objectively better once you remove the fun gimmick from Pokemon Go, no?
My area has no signal and everyone has taken the car so I'm stranded here for a week. It's the only way I can join my friends.
Even if my current account is trashed later I'm still having fun. If I start over at college then it doesn't really matter because I would have 0 progress in my current area anyway.

well you'll get banned now and you can't play later
so you might wanna rethink that
niantic really needs to step up their shit with the servers, not being able to handle this, being non-live gameplay is pretty sad
this is really something they should have been prepared for, since the us release was congested even
lost two pidgeys due to the app endlessly loading on the pokéball image after the catch, and it's just by pure chance if i can log in at all, and it's slow as shit to start, 20-30s

except it is live?
calculations are done on the server
there's only so much you can prepare for
there's a point where no matter how much you try, you're just barely keeping pace with incoming users

so is it using a live socket connection and updating stuff in real time? i don't see the need for that if it is though
and yes, you can prepare for stuff like this. they're fucking blind if they didn't notice the massive media/social media coverage and adjust accordingly for the upcoming europe launch

i'd like to see you sysadmin a game that's literally become a cultural phenomenon
It'd be a waste of money to buy and set up a shit-ton of servers that aren't gonna be used a week or two after launch. It'll smooth out soon, don't worry about it.

they're using aws so that's not an issue
but it's just scaling can only happen so fast, and incoming players are joining faster than they can scale
It took me ages how to figure out how to use Battery Saver mode on the app and I feel like a dummy.
Giraffen it seems like you're always so salty about everything.

but they even launched the game later to europe, they could have just upped another instance and had that balance the load
yes it's going to calm down, but launch is seriously the most important part of a game, if it doesn't work then people won't bother coming back
Giraffen it seems like you're always so salty about everything.
i usually don't write/express myself about things i like, i just take it for granted :v:

ah yes the mystical magical server that doesn't require any setup whatsoever
man what i wouldn't give for one of those
[editline]16th July 2016[/editline]
also generally speaking people have been understanding of server issues and are coming back anyways???

Virtual machines, templating and remote server farm deployment? It's quite common.
It took me ages how to figure out how to use Battery Saver mode on the app and I feel like a dummy.
Well it's not like the app actually tells you how it works or how to use it. I wouldn't feel bad.
